The initial planning is meticulous with future capacity in mind. I have lived in the UK for more than 50 years. London Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world. It has 5 terminus but only 2 runways. We have debated about the 3rd runway for over 30 years and eventually it has been approved for two years, but no physical work on the 3rd runway has yet begun. This is a real contrast between the rapid development in China and slow progress in the West that has too much bureaucracy. Valuable time is wasted, and in Heathrow's case 30 years.

Chinese infrastructure is of the highest quality in the world. Chengdu is such a gorgeous city displaying the best of traditional Chinese architecture with the convenience of modern living. I hope to visit one day soon and see the airport for myself as well as explore all the glorious sights of Sichuan.

As a Chengduese live in the US. I see there are some dislikes....why would some "people" do that? Why can't some "people" accept this is a great airport ? Jealous? or just stereotyping that China should always dirty, poor, or never should have a beautiful airport like this?
i particularly applaud the alcohol test for the pilots. here in north america, i have read news about drunk pilots pulled from the flights in the last minute. i guess alcohol test is not compulsory here?? love from canada.
Some pilots in North America are only paid minimum wage and sleep in cramp quarters. Colgan Air's Flight 3407 ua-cam.com/video/h5xF9KwNCHA/v-deo.html China is is an incredible place for pilot development with so many local airlines and daily flights !
Why can't the UK make up its mind to build another airport terminal to relieve the congestion in the south of England ?. We talk about and nothing gets done. In the meantime, Chendu builds a first-class airport.

For a huge nation, transport infrastructure is of vital importance to ensure her economic development and obviously she has made it handsomely all these years. Developing economies can follow her approach to this end. There is no doubt that some central planning is a requirement and such approach does not necessarily monopolized by a Central Government which wanted to control such infrastructure, hence the rate of developments in China.

This is very nice, and very informative. I never know flight crew requirement are so strict, but then again…they’re responsible for hundreds of lives. Do more informative videos like this, we live outside China would love to learn this country.
I don't know what the significance of the double water cannon ceremony though I have seen it on TV in the past. But, after you explain the story behind it on your video, I feel it is an honor to experience the ceremony because it is an once in a life time thing.
Chengdu will help China expand trade to Eastern Europe. Pleased to see an inland city competing with Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou for visitors in the coming decades.
