People sometimes don't understand the real meaning of this song. This was made for Robbie Williams while he had depression. I think it's really nice that not only did Take That make this song for Robbie Williams to help him during depression but it can be used for anyone else who is going through something like depression. I suffer severe depression and this song always helps calm me down. It's a beautiful song with a beautiful meaning.

Mark is the most underrated artist among Take That members. His gem of songs with underlying emotions and messages, were often downgraded by people who dislikes his style as an alternative pop rock artist. Because it's not the typical pop ballad and pop rock which most people prefer. Even as a solo artist, tbh his songs were genuinely written and sung from his heart. Only music fanatics and geniuses along with people with an ear for what real music is, can appreciate Mark's songs.
rosie77881 It was written in 2006 when at the time Robbie was suffering from severe depression. On their Progress Tour, Mark sings Shine whilst pointing at a man in a white rabbit costume, which later turns into Robbie.
What a wonderful tribute to Robbie Williams. They are more like brothers than bandmates. Another example here of how theatric Mark Owen is. He is one of the most underrated artist out there.
SHINE is one of the English band's masterpieces, initially it immediately pushes you to think of a cheerful song due to the lively music, the repetition of the chorus, the lights and the dance.💥 Thanks to the verses you realize that it's a song well aimed at motivating, encouraging people to believe in themselves in dark and difficult moments in life, situations of great emotional discomfort often occurred following trauma or addictions.💥 The song invites everyone to value and treasure their own qualities and to focus on the uniqueness of what each of us is in this world. 💥 It was written by Mark Owen for Robbie Williams, (former member of the band) , Owen still felt attached to, that that he was going through depression. 💥To Owen, Robbie was something of an idol, a shining star for all that he had achieved regardless of what people out there think about it, he believes in Robbie's ability to shine that light through what he loves most to do, to be seen and appreciated for the great talent and value yet to be given through the magnificent voice and indubitable talent. 💥From his side and the band, Robbie will always have their love and support. 💥Depression is a disabling disease, affected people are unable to carry out simple activities day-to-day, they have difficulty concentrating with consequences on cognitive functions which deteriorate, with later repercussions on decision-making and relational functions.💥 Depression can have causes in the very stressful daily rhythm, work stress, love problems or family problems.💥 In the life of the stars, depression has a simple cause, success, which leads to having a life in the spotlight, difficult to bear, experiencing great anxiety due to the constant fear of not losing the fame achieved.💥 Many artists have not kept their fight against depression a secret, they have spoken through music, on social media , interviews on TV trying to demonstrate that raising awareness on this issue can help people understand that they can get out of it or live with it with the help of psychotherapy, drugs and concrete support from loved ones and family members.💥 In the song "Lost", from the album XXV, autobiographical test , Robbie Williams talks about borderline behavior, how he had lost his place in life in the period between 1995 and 2000, while he was battling depression.💥 I don't know this profound discomfort closely, I believe that the most substantial help is in one's own resources by following a more balanced life possible by giving time and space to what make us feel gratified and happy such as activities, hobbies, love and affection of the dearest.💥 A depressed person must be contained and reassured with lots of love and patience, you must be that shoulder to lean on , you must be the arms that welcome and the hands that dry the tears when feeling lost prevails more than anything. 💥This song is moving because of the great contrast between the joy of the music and the veiled message of the verses. 💥Thank s for this meaningful song, Take Tate is still a band that has nice surprises in store for us .....💥 thank you. 😊😊😊..
I was 6 years old when this song came out & I loved it then, now I'm 27 & it hit so much differently. If you see somethine divine in the song, then you are absolutely right! It starts with the name - "Take That" is what the good guy says as he fights back against the bad guy. The rejection of the evil of the 2020s - that is our life now. The time is indeed now, and the lads knew it...
I heard this song aften several years that it had just been somewhere forgotten in the back of my brain. And now I am so glad to have rediscovered it!!! It gives me really a lot of energy!
This has such a few great Queen references (I'm not sure if that's intentional or not)....the guitar riff, the dancers (who remind me of the video for 'I Was Born To Love You'), the set, the piano...such a great song on its own, but the throwback to Queen seals the deal.
It's about Robbie Williams and that is so sweet of them. Nobody: Not even a soul: Morrison’s: shine plays faintly in the distance inside number 9 cold comfort, also year 6 leavers assembly (but mainly inside no. 9)
When I was a little boy and this came out new, I loved this song. Then over the years my tastes changed a lot, rap, rock, metal, went away from corny music. The last few years have been hard, after COVID and as my mental health degraded. It's been hard being incredibly low mood a lot of the time to make progress in small places, and even times when I've been happier, my anxiety and OCD has prevented me from wanting to make moves changing things for good. I have prayed for answers patiently. This morning, I wake up with this song stuck in my head. As I sit on the toilet I recall the lyrics thinking "those are pretty good lyrics" and here I am now listening to the song and they're even better than I remember and exactly what I need to hear, and the song sounds as great as I remember. Basically, God sent me my favourite Take That song as a little boy that I'd already heard a million times but needed to hear again at this time, 20 years later.

its actually a blatant homage to Electric Light Orchestra
Mark was always a cheeky chap, great voice too 💎
Awesome, timeless song and video! I so love Artists who write such uplifting, encouraging material. This world’s gone so dark of late, we ALL need to shiiiiiine, be it only to help light one another’s way. {{{God bless, guide and protect anyone reading this}}} 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
If you see somethine divine in the song, then you are absolutely right!
It starts with the name - "Take That" is what the good guy says as he fights back against the bad guy.
The rejection of the evil of the 2020s - that is our life now.
The time is indeed now, and the lads knew it...
So underrated. Always coming back here.
Красавчики! 😊😊😊
This song came from the universe. I listened to the words, and it's exactly the message I needed.❤
The ending to this tune is amazing "shine all your light over me" gets me inside
I a so happy they're back and performing again.. such a positive vibe!
I heard this song aften several years that it had just been somewhere forgotten in the back of my brain. And now I am so glad to have rediscovered it!!! It gives me really a lot of energy!
First heard this song in the 🇬🇧 in 2007 still fresh in 2024 🇺🇸..Take That one of my favorite band since '92
This has such a few great Queen references (I'm not sure if that's intentional or not)....the guitar riff, the dancers (who remind me of the video for 'I Was Born To Love You'), the set, the piano...such a great song on its own, but the throwback to Queen seals the deal.
Now I know it was written about robbie's battle with depression gives it so much more meaning
Take That are my guilty secret. I laugh at my mum for listening to them but I honestly love them
Love the Beatlesy/ELO vibes of this track. Detect a bit of Queen too in the guitars. Really cool.
Love that it was written about Robbie williams. Also reminds a little of Robbie Williams Lazy Days ( last minute or so)
Take That....Pop legends through and through💪💪💪 Love you boys xxx
Rhi Webber I love you to xxx
Classic and epic.
Я уже раз 100, посмотрела. Невозможно оторваться. БРАВО!!!! 💖💖💖👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🎤🎶🎶🎶

It's about Robbie Williams and that is so sweet of them.

Not even a soul:
Morrison’s: shine plays faintly in the distance
inside number 9 cold comfort, also year 6 leavers assembly (but mainly inside no. 9)
I'm here from Inside No. 9. Quite a chilling episode.
Did somebody say Number 9... number 9... number 9... number 9...
9
@omakase6 is that a Revolution 9 reference? If it is you’re a legend
Fabulous act ! Philadelphia 🇺🇸🇬🇧
When I was really young, I thought it was only marks song and the others were backup singers!
😆
Just heard this on the radio a few minutes ago. I just had to hear it again :)
Without a doubt one of their best songs ❣️🙌🏼🎶
Don't you let me hold you down
