- I demonstrate and review the 4 ways to record your performance on Yamaha PSR E463 and Yamaha EW 410 keyboards.
In this video, I will show you the 4 ways you can record your performance on the Yamaha PSR-E463 keyboard. A few of the techniques can also be applied to other models such as the PSR-363 and the PSR-E263.
The 4 methods of recording are melody recording, style recording, groove recording and finally multi-track recording.
USB audio recording will be covered in another video.

This has been driving me nuts, but finally found it.
On the display you have a row with 1 2 3 4 5 6 A.
Make sure these are switched off. Especially the last A. This is done by pressing the Phrases button.
Once you switch it off, press rec and start playing.

There is another way to write to an external USB flash. Also, when listening to a multi-track recording, you can turn off and on previously recorded tracks. Thanks for video! All the best!

hi Jeremy, great tutorials on the keyboards. Watched some of your old and now new videos and subscribed. Is there a way to record the ACOMP only in the PSR E series into a DAW like Cakewalk. I tried but it seems to pick-up the Voice only on my track. Hope you can share light on this. Looking forward to more new videos.

Hi Jeremy, very useful video. Which of these techniques can also be applied to the PSR E453, the older model? By the way very nice rendition of Twinkle, twinkle little star in a minor key.
Thanks for your support. All 4 methods can be used on the E453. The Groove Creator is just a name change. It's the same as the pattern play function.

One question....In addition to creating your own Grooves, is there a way to create and save your own custom styles either to a USB or the internal memory or maybe both? If possible, A and B sections with fills would be great but not necessarily intros or endings.
Reason is, I'm working on the song "Drive" by The Cars and while the keyboard/synth part sounds great using Voice #9/Piano Strings, I can't find a style that matches the percussion very well. Each measure of the verses has a 3 beat rhythm that kinda syncopates (echoes) with the keys, followed by a hard synth snare shot on the 4th downbeat. And so far, I either find rhythms that kinda match the syncopated part of the 1st 3 beats, but don't have the 4th beat shot, or have the 4th beat shot but doesn't syncopate on beats 1 thru 3. Any suggestions? Hope that's clear enough. Thanks again!

I'm DX 7 Generation and algorithm.. This was a important lesson to learn.. 😉 USB Stick and etc.. When I began learning computers.. There was no Windows but DOS 💿 Damn it! 🤣
I found an abandoned PSR E443 in the mud. Let it dry for the weekend, tried it out and cleaned it up-can't find anything wrong with it so far and it's a step up from my PSR 172.

I noticed there's no way to loop songs I record on tracks.
I also noticed there's no way to individually adjust the tempo of a track, the Tempo/Tap key speeds up or slows down all tracks which is not the outcome I was trying to achieve.
Are these limitations I'm running into with the PSR-EW410 ?

can i while listening to my playback of what i recorded add a track in the middle of my song or near the end? like push pause where i want to enter another sound (track) and then where i pause it click the record button and my track number? or will that completely destroy what was previously recorded ? because sometimes i'm listening to what i recorded and i think oh wait i remember there's a certain instrument sound i forgot to add to that song. So waht i usually do is stop the song so it starts from the beginning then i click the record and then the track i want but then i have to wait till the middle or end of the song so i can fill in the sound that i wanted to add.

I use some style from my android via midi cable. When I record, it only record my piano sounds , not the styles from my phone. How can I record both ?
my psr e463 has a habbit of recording the accompaniment rhythm when I don't want one and attempt to record only a right hand point how do I fix it. somehow going into the song mode works but when I am wanting to start with another voice it will play the rhythm when I requested no accompaniment or rhythm. especially given the fact I want to create orrigenal midi files with a rhythm that I manually input
Whenever I record to USB and or PC audacity, the audio recording volume is always too low when played back on any pc speaker or mobile phone. Is there a way to increase the output volume in recording an audio? thanks

Hi Jeremy. I posted a question couple of hours ago and now I have another one. I want to start recording playing voice number 11 then switch to voice number 95 while continuing to record. But when I key in 95 it stays on 11. Is there a way around that?
Hi. Maybe you can help me. I'm on Yamaha's website trying to find a keyboard like my old one that has 5 tracks for me to record on. I can record drums, bass, keys and two more things. Seems like a lot of the new Yamaha's only have 2 tracks. Under "specs" where it says "Number of Tracks 6 (5 Melody + 1 Style/Groove Creator)" does that mean it has 6 tracks available for recording 6 separate tracks on one song?

Hey great video! I recorded a multi layering track and tried to export the file to the usb or pc but i could only transfer the user file as a midi file which was without sustain and sounding different. Is there any other way to export so that it can sound the original way it is?

just got a yamaha djx1..how do you realtime record..it keeps adding a beat over my recording...since 94 i have used an akai mpc, usually i pull up a drum program, record the drum pattern to track one, then go to track two and lets say record the high hats, then ill move over to track three and record a few bass notes, then ill copy lets say sequence three to sequence four then make new changes to that track for variation so on and so forth..but this yamaha djx is kinda different, its in realtime recording mode and the part and pattern controls are off...when i hit record a beat plays over the drums that im trying to tap out...can you please help me silence that beat..thank you,

If I understand your question, you can play from your phone through the psr e410's speakers with an aux cord (same as you would have in a car). Find the "aux in" hole at the back of your keyboard and connect the aux to it and your phone.
Just bought E463. Sound through Scarlett interface is horrid compared to board speakers. Is this board just not useful for daw recording? My Casio and Roland record flawlessly so concern is not with set-up.

Hi there! I am trying to record a track on my E453, but when I pres record, even though the display doesn't show acmp on, it still plays some drum pattern along with my recording. I am a new user, never had an arranger before and don't know how to disable that. I want to record clean tracks/layers with only my sequences of keys/drums/sfx. What am I doing wrong?

Great explanation! Any way to create and playback loops? Repeat A-B kinda works, but it plays an annoying metronome sequence before every loop, so it definitely doesn't serve the purpose. I'm desperately trying to a Yamaha Keyboard that can simply create and play a loop (sequencer) and then I play my leads on top of it. No success yet.
Only the upcoming Yamaha PSR-SX has that feature. Just buy a loop box.

@@matteowormcke9074 With the piano idle, choose the Voice (i.e., Grand Piano, Flute, etc.) you wish. Notice that the Track "1", and the Track "A" icons are lit on the Display. Press the [A / Phrases] button (located above note A3 on the keybed): the "A" track icon should turn off, and the Track "1" icon remains lit. Now, press the [REC] button. The keyboard will start recording only your keyboard performance as soon as you start playing the keys -- WITHOUT the drums/Style track now!

The multi track recordings are saving as .usr file in the keyboard..how can i convert it to other formats like MP3 ...
Use a USB cable. Connect to PC. Use Audacity to record. Press play on your keyboard.

Just add another voice of your own choice to remove the previously added voice.
My midi, Mp3, .kar files from a computer copied to a USB. Works in a PA700 and PA1000. But when I put it in a DGX 670 USB drive, it could not read the files. Please make a video about this. I really love to buy Dgx 670 but because of this i will not buy it. I am ready to buy it this week. Maybe you have the answer to my problem. Make my USB work on the DGX 670, please. Or else I’ll get the pa700.
