Carlos Santana, was born in Mexico's Autlán de Navarro on July 20, 1947.
Carlos learnt how to play the violin from his father, Jose, a skilled professional violinist, however he ultimately didn't like the sounds he produced.
He would eventually pick up the electric guitar and become intensely passionate about it.
The American rock and roll and blues music of performers like B.B. King, Ray Charles, and Little Richard served as inspiration for Santana.
with David Brown and Gregg Rolie, two other street musicians, he founded the Santana Blues Band in 1966.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Santana in 2009 at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Santana was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors in 2013.
