    To be honest, the noise and that "crackieness" kinda gives you the old school vibes

    • @TheCratesMotel
      @TheCratesMotel  Місяць тому +3

      Yes of course, I agree. And I love it. But sometimes if you have a really dirty break with a lot of ambient noise, it’s difficult to have control over the individual sounds with EQ and compression. As I said in the outro, you can use this method, and then run the original break in parallel, so you have the control in the mix over the individual sounds, and have the original vibe and noise quieter in the background. Perfect situation.

    Some sound engineers do the opposite
    Gate first, then compress. You get way more pop in the attack portion. You can also just compress and then use adsr to shape sample.

      Yup good shout. I used to gate then compress on my SSL in the 90s, but I find on the MPC, you get more consistent results with the compressor first. But there’s no right or wrong. Also I have found over the years I get more pop compressing first but it depends on the gate and the compressor. As I said in the video, there are always plenty of ways to get the same result, this is just one of them. ADSR has mixed results on the MPC in my opinion and doesn’t sound as natural. There’s a thin line between not enough and too much. With that all said, the aim of all my videos are to inspire people to try things they may not have thought about before. I am not into those UA-camrs that say “this is the only way to do it” lol. Thanks for watching.

    Wow.... When you show the waveform of the drum loop after you bounced it was so sick. Now the threshold chop will have no problem getting the chops PERFECT!

    you're the best MPC teacher on here by miles. The way you explain things and link them to standard studio practices is really helpful for me. do you offer any courses? How can i pay you back for all the help?

    What a difference , wow, and transciënts came out perfect. I kinda wished we had visual refference when we mix/eq stuff in standalone , so i learn what im doing. But thats to much for the machine to handle i guess
