Fantastic Video Matilda It Was A Entertaining Rail Road Video The Company Bombardier Of Canada Built The Flexity Trams In Blackpool And The Disney Parks Monorails Here in The States We Have The Canadian National Railroad Thar Runs Through Battle Creek Michigan To Chicago😊
Here in the USA, all trucks are covered in graffiti many are works of art. You call that long? We have them up to 2 miles long pulled by up to 6 DPU,s. They can take up to 10 minutes to pass. Bad luck at crossings if you arrive as the gates have closed.
@@SuperBarnaby12 We are not in the USA! Yes I call it long as it’s in England 🤔
In a moment there will be an Aussie along to say "2 miles mate? Call that long?".
The length of freight trains in the UK isn't limited by the locomotives capability, it's the length of the yard roads it is router for, the signalling sections and passing loops on the mainline because unlike the USA, in UK and Europe, passenger services get priority and freight has to wait. We could stack 3 or 4 66s on the front and haul a 2 mile train in the UK no problem. It just would cause chaos on a mainline with 125mph passenger services on a 3 minute headway. Something that most US freight services don't need to deal with.
@@typhoon-7 Ha Ha I know 😂 and it’s not titled longest train ever, it’s titled Have you seen how long it is? I don’t call it long it could be 12 inches 😂
Such a lite load. Over here in the states, we load the rock hoppers to 100-125 tons, and a single locomotive can handle up to 60 cars.
@@johnparker7874 We are not in the States, the States is about 40 times the size of England if not more on the plus side at least we don’t have Biden!
Yes, the differences are significant between here and there. I have spent the past 26 years working over the Stockton, Mojave and Cajon Subdivisions as a freight conductor. Our trains have gotten longer and heavier with larger car designs coming out of the 1970’s when the 100 ton hopper was a novelty. Now it’s obsolete! 130 ton grain cars and lumber, steel and more - but as she said, the two countries are not the same.
And you can have Biden if you want him, by the way.
@@stevenjohnson7086 Ha ha no thanks, even as useless as Sunak is we’ll stick with him 😂
@@matildariverwaldennews What if I said please?
These are 100t hoppers. The loco here can handle similar to those in the USA but the limitation is the length of the yard roads and the passing loops it'll have to negotiate on the mainline to let passenger services past. Unlike in the USA, in UK and Europe, passenger services are prioritised.
Go to America -we have VERY LONG trains. TOO LONG when you are stuck at the crossing gates at the top of a hill.

Another top job team Walden. There is so much more that goes on than many people think about freight trains, it's not just the transport but the loading and unloading logistics synchronising what has to be where and when with safety a paramount factor. Many thanks for sharing Matilda.

Seeing the gravel train in the video kinda reminds me of the Sand & Gravel trains I've seen sitting in Dover, New Hampshire.
During the day, they start from the Sand & Gravel pits in Ossipee, NH and travel down to Dover where the train would be tied down until evening when it would resume it's journey to the Sand & Gravel plant in Boston, Massachusetts. After the cars are unloaded, the train heads back to Dover and is tied down until morning when it would resume it's return trip to Ossipee.
But due to the trains running at night on the section of main line track I normally film trains on, I've been unable to film one of these Sand and Gravel trains in action.

Good questions and answers from everyone. Watching from New Zealand where we have a narrower gauge. Freight does 80 km/h (50 mph) and passenger rail does 100 km/h (60 mph). I have travelled on British passenger trains and enjoyed the faster speeds.
