How Daly gets picked to start and Murley doesn’t even make a training squad is baffling.
Maybe as Daly can play wing, 15 and even 13 if really desperate mid game. Can also add a kicking option and thump them over from 50-55 metres on the right day. You could argue that Murley offers more in experience than Feyi-Waboso. Maybe not the blistering speed but certainly enough pace and more experience.
@bradb868 Stick Murley and EFW on the wings, Furbank at full back. Furbs can play 10 or 15. I understand your argument of versatility but now consider how often that happens. When was the last time an injury caused a huge reshuffle across the team? Ireland in the Scotland game last year? Healy in at hoover, jvdf throwing in at the lineout, JimmyOB covered centre for early Ringrose injury. Can't recall any other recent occasions so I'd argue picking someone in case they have to cover other positions is a flawed strategy. Murley should be getting development at international level all the time. They didn't do it with Arundell, he's now gone. Slade didn't go to the WC but now can't be dropped despite being anonymous. How many different centre pairings have there been in the last 4 yrs? Selection makes no sense.
Not an argument. Simply an observation and based on England in the RWC, sub 1 player and end up moving 4 players on pitch positions. He may also be a club 10 cover but he isn't an international 10. Again, fair opinion but less likely.....
@@bradb868 Jones and now Borthwicks selections are mind boggling. Look at Scot, IRE, NZ, SA and until recently Fra...players given time at the top level to settle in, youth introduced regularly and consistent selection in key positions/combos. Wales have had to deal with retirements but even Italy are getting it right. England? It's like a game of spin the wheel every week. Madness.
rarely ever happens and having a player stay in on versatility alone is bizarre, however Daly hasn't been the disappointing part of the squad for me to this point. I want to see uncapped(or lightly capped) players get in in general though, you never know what they can bring to the table unless you give them a sniff.@sts
Marley and Pearson along with Pepper need starting in the full team.
Playing without fear
Don't worry, Borthwick and co will soon put a stop to that.
The portuguese should't have scheduled such a game. I mean, the portuguese national team, at the moment playing Rugby Europe Championship, has 8 players from those that played the RWC. The players at the national team, are those that should have played this test match, which makes this portuguese side completely inadequate to play at this level. I hope this test hasn't done more harm than good.
This is Portugal 'A' too. Their first team is busy with the Rugby Europe Championship.
thanks, that's what I tought
there was not REC this weekend
Actually this is a portuguese B side. The A team is currently engaged in the Europe Rugby Championship. The portuguese national team that played in the RWC was given a well deserved time off.
@@heldercosta515 'A' team basically means second team.
@@JM-nw2pb most of Portugal players 1st squad, are prod2 and top14 players and the clubs don't allow them to play a friendly... ofcourse
Considering this has more views than the actual 6 nations game against Scotland, is this considered a safe space for England fans?
Only joking, I'll be supporting you lads in the game against ireland ❤
I was at the game and although it was a walkover and easy to look good a number caught the eye:
Baxter and Heyes looked strong
Tuima has good hands
Pearson, Barbeary and Pepper could be the England proper back row.
Randall was no nonsense
Atkinson played clever
Muir and Murley showed great skills
Hodge I would have no problem starting full back
Hartley looks like a real prospect and again hopefully the long term 12 for England
Agreed completely. Would've liked to have seen Hartley given more time but Ojomoh looked test-ready too. Hodge provides an excellent alternative to Steward.
Baffles me how Hodge and Randall aren’t in the main england team by far knocking on the door for starting 15 and Pearson! These teams are coaches favorites that’s for sure never picked on the best it’s a shame
I think they would beat the English first team.
Bring back probables vs possibles and put it on TV!
Who? Portugal or England A?
Make them watch how to play with ball in hand
@@attackpatterndelta8949 both lmao
I think you'll find England's defence might offer a tad more resistance 😂
A massive win,great players for England,too easy!!❤🎉🎉🎉
That Portuguese fly half for the next 50 years: "Did I tell you about the time I scored against England?"
The A team look like they can pass.
And run at the same time. There’s something in that…
And actually catch a ball….
Everyone swooning over this performance should look at Portugal's woeful defence. Easy to score tries when your opponents don't even attempt to tackle.
England have found their level. I wonder How many in this England side will move up or be lost to the game?
Very good experience for portugals A team, hope they get better😅
Best game of the weekend
Great to see games like this, bringing over a rapidly devloping country to play a tough game in a sold out stadium will only help
Rugby is the sport in which it is more difficult to grow. In any other sports, if you happen to have a couple of talented players, you naturalize a couple of them more and the rest are good athletes (I'm simplifying a bit, I know) you can compete with the best. That's happened many times in basketball, handball, even in 7 rugby. In rugby XV you need at least a dozen of good players if you want to have a chance to compete.
We all know that this is England B or C, but this is not the best side Portugal could muster either.
Tier two countries need more matches like this to grow.
Have to get some of these players in the first team
A momentous victory. The greatest in the history of English rugby
Really?
the gap between tier 1 and tier 2 is huge
To be fair, this wasn't the normal Portugal first team that we saw in the world cup. Would still expect them to lose against England A but not quite to this degree
@@THEslimmy89 well that is not a given... we were close to beat the welsh team in the World Cup. I don't think Fiji is weaker than England A team???
still close match I am sure that could have gone either way...!!!
Borthers hasn’t got a clue. He needs to be shown the door.
Hard to say we learnt anything from this, but it is good to see England A back. Hopefully they can get more fixtures against sterner opposition.
Were we meant to learn anything? England were always going to win.
You can learn a lot if you know what to look for regardless of the opposition.@@attackpatterndelta8949
England A should have their own tours. Maybe a tour of the pacific would be good? Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, USA and Canada need more games. Even a test against the NZ Maoris would be epic
None of those Portugal players were in the WC last year, lol.
We know Cassandra.
Caden murley and feyi waboso should be England's starting wingers. And yes this guy is right ⬇️ this team would be England's '1st'
Let’s not get too carried away, this was Portugal after all. However certain players stood out, as a Luctonians supporter Pearson is the real deal, he was when playing second row for us. Barberry looks destructive and Heyes also looked solid. Randall was lively. Beard looks like he has the talent in the centre where we desperately need people to challenge for places. Murley is a strong contender as an orthodox winger. There is the elephant in the room issue of Zac Mercer, who, so browned off by the England set up, doesn’t even feature here. However players seem to put themselves up for contention and disappear into the quagmire initiated by Jones and seemingly carried on by Borthwick. For heavens sake, strip out the has beens, bring in talented blood and create a “Bazball “ mentality, rather than a conservative can’t afford to lose mentality. Talent ( and we have plenty of it) will out. You might even get not just the well heeled Twickenham crowd excited but the millions of us watching on TV
Re Mercer, he's gone public and told Borewick to stick it , in as many words, as he was so pee'd off with not making the WC or 6N squads after being told he was a strong contender.
Why Tom Pearson STILL isn't in the England 1st team squad is a baffling mystery. To me anyway.
Was there any point to this fixture? Randall should be playing for the first team
Shame the first team can do the same ....very entertaining game ..
Why the hell isn't Randall given more games?
The A would beat the normal team
They would certainly test em.. throwing the ball around would confuse the shit out of the Full Side..
England A are playing with the blueprint of ehat a real England are about. Physicality. Set piece. Kick for territory. And everyone on here raving about how good they are - the senior England team are bad because these are the same people who have been screaming for "exciting" attacking rugby which is not England's style, and then moan when they can't pull it off. Give me a break. It's these same people and the media who have pressured England to change their style, go off type and ultimately lose their edge.
Have you ever watched the premiership?
Portugal B team. Not one Portugal player who played in the world cup
So? Do you think the result would have been different against Portugal's first team?
@@attackpatterndelta8949portugals first team would clap england A wdym?
@@attackpatterndelta8949 Portugal main team, is mostly prod2 and top14 players at the moment.
They are better than in the world cup
@@attackpatterndelta8949 I don't know if the portuguese team that played the RWC could pull a win against the Saxons, I know the would not loose by 86 points.
@@attackpatterndelta8949 I mean, yeah... they would not be slammed like this. Probably they might lose, but not by this much
Looking better than the 1st team. When is Borthwick going to bring some of this young talent into the first team squad?
Why do they put the score as the click image? Fools.
What exactly is the England a team??? looks to me like they are an England team who are allowed to play exciting Rugby
I still don't understand some serious comments about this game ! U are just not aware of the team that Portugal pick to play. Unfortunately, a lost chance to grow up. Some of those guys are subs in the 2nd division of Portugal!! Do u know what does it mean??
And let me tell u, while some of u laugh, they were brave! 🇵🇹
Don't put the score in the thumbnail FFS
Pointless game for both sides. This is effectively Portugal's 3rd choice side, most of their WC squad play in France and weren't released for the Rugby Europe championship, so the 2nd choice players are playing there.
Errrrrm what was the point? Pun
You're still telling me Radwan can't even get into the 'A' Team????????????????? FFS.
There are so many good English wingers, eg Thorley, Sleightholme, Roebuck, Woodburn, David, Lynagh and Reed (both now lost) Ibitoye, de Glanville, Segum, Lewington etc. Radwan is great, but just one among many who are not going to get a chance.
@@ianburton9030It is hopeless that Elliott Daly still gets selected ahead. (For Saracens, he plays 13 or 15 more.)
I like Daly, he's balanced, skilful and quickish. But he's a 13 not a winger, for sure.
Too many foreigners in the England 1st team.
It should be renamed The England Commonwealth 15. This would reflect what it actually is.
Why have a national team and call it a national team if the coaches are continually poaching players from overseas?
at least the racist c---- have stopped calling themselves saxons
