We humans simply try to fill in the gapes when we hear random gibberish, infact I'd argue the fact that we can't tell what he's saying, or even if it is really Doug, makes it scarier.

@@Pyro725 It's unknown how old he is exactly, and it's possible that he was there when the Aperture Image Format was created in 1985 (he was in charge of maintaining it), which _could_ make him old enough to be Chell's father - but I still find it incredibly unlikely. I think Doug would have been far too paranoid to ever involve his daughter with Aperture, for one thing - but if every character that made it into the events of Portal and Portal 2 just so happened to _ALSO_ be related to each other (because a lot of people also think that Chell was Cave and Caroline's daughter, and Doug adopted her from them / raised her after they died), I would just find that INCREDIBLY boring and lazy of the writers, and we all know that Valve hired _far_ better writers than that for Portal.

The Borealis was stolen? Then why can you get an achievement for finding it in the aperture science industry. @@Pyro725 It's unknown how old he is exactly, and it's possible that he was there when the Aperture Image Format was created in 1985 (he was in charge of maintaining it), which _could_ make him old enough to be Chell's father - but I still find it incredibly unlikely. I think Doug would have been far too paranoid to ever involve his daughter with Aperture, for one thing - but if every character that made it into the events of Portal and Portal 2 just so happened to _ALSO_ be related to each other (because a lot of people also think that Chell was Cave and Caroline's daughter, and Doug adopted her from them / raised her after they died), I would just find that INCREDIBLY boring and lazy of the writers, and we all know that Valve hired _far_ better writers than that for Portal.
