i remember when portal 2 came out i was so excited to play. me and my dad and bro and would watch each other play and help each other and my dad loved this song he would cry to it and he just passed away like a week ago and i just remembered this song and im sobbing it feels so real
If you think about the song from GLaDOS’s perspective, which I’m fairly certain it’s supposed to be from, it just sounds petty. It’s kind of fitting honestly, the song is emotional and gives the listener a feeling of sadness, but if you pay attention to the lyrics it’s just a slightly more aggressive version of “Still Alive” less passive aggressive, and more just normal aggressive. GLaDOS sounds annoyed more than anything, and she’s attempting to shame you for your choice. It works regardless of who it’s directed towards, be it Chell or Rattman, they both fought against her, and in a way they both won. It’s the “long sleep or the “long sleep”” as it were. I hope we one day get more information on Doug, he seems like an interesting guy, but I would rather his fate be left ambiguous, the man fought hard, he should rest.

By having as little as possible from the game it dissosiates the story from the game and it becomes its own story, a stop motion chell figure would have been the second option but it would take some of the drama away, with a live action chell we can better feel rattmann's point of view, chell is the only thing real for him, shes hope, she bested glados, he couldnt just leave her behind when he escaped because he only escaped thanks to her. A live action chell means much more than just chell, it represents how rattmann sees chell. That and a blank faced gmod chell would have looked awful
@@IsaSaien -- I highly disagree. Either use all stop-motion, or all live-action - trying to mix the two really weirded me out and took me away from feeling immersed. Other than that, though, I could really tell that this was made with love and hard work, so this was still pretty great.
I watched this video maybe a week or two after it came out, and every so often I remember this song and think of this video. I finally came back to it and realized it's been 11 years. Thank you, this video is a core memory.
Hard to believe that this came out when I was still in school.. Man, do the years fly by. Despite the age, this is still an absolutely charming and amazing piece of artwork. You can see the love, passion, and creativity, even to this day. It's still gorgeous, over a decade later, and the fact it still gets views just reminds me of how passionate the Portal community can be.. Even if Valve will probably not be releasing another mainline Portal any time soon.

Once playing, I thought he was so rich, he had a white bills hat ( Which was like 8 keys back then, it was considered rich). He and I were some of the best friends, his sister was too. As 1 year past, after summer break, we stopped talking after Christmas, during the period of Christmas my dream was to be better than him, stupid I was, I downloaded LMAOBOX. I never got to use it but I got banned because of valve finding it in my system. Being vacc banned. I did cry trying to look for them in my friends list to tell them that we couldn't play together unless gmod. But I couldn't find them. I was panicked, worried, I tried to find them all over steam, no use. They never left a message saying goodbye to me, I couldn't find them on steam. There names was " Nin CHEEZE US" and " Poptart Kitty". I was depressed. I avoided steam for a long time. Then I came back, made a new account and still have lots of fun, till this day, I still try and find hope in finding my lost lost best friends.

I can't describe how much I love this fucking song, it relaxes me too much and whenever I play portal 2 and I get to the part where they are playing this song I stay there listening to it hehehe
I return to this because it’s one of those few examples of blending mediums extremely well. The contrasting in-game engine to the stop motion clay really sells the mental disconnection between Doug and the rest of the story while also playing right into it… Portal can be so complex yet so simple which to me will always be the main attraction to the IP

+Hayden Franco I know that feel bro, back in 2012 when I played tf2 I used to play with this dude and his sister, we never met in real life, just steam friends. Once playing, I thought he was so rich, he had a white bills hat ( Which was like 8 keys back then, it was considered rich). He and I were some of the best friends, his sister was too. As 1 year past, after summer break, we stopped talking after Christmas, during the period of Christmas my dream was to be better than him, stupid I was, I downloaded LMAOBOX. I never got to use it but I got banned because of valve finding it in my system. Being vacc banned. I did cry trying to look for them in my friends list to tell them that we couldn't play together unless gmod. But I couldn't find them. I was panicked, worried, I tried to find them all over steam, no use. They never left a message saying goodbye to me, I couldn't find them on steam. There names was " Nin CHEEZE US" and " Poptart Kitty". I was depressed. I avoided steam for a long time. Then I came back, made a new account and still have lots of fun, till this day, I still try and find hope in finding my lost lost best friends.
+Nexus Prime the same happened to me I was playing tf2 and met someone called "Neo-Nyte" we played for a long time but it stopped all of the sudden then I went to send her an invite to play tf2 but she was gone I went to her steam group but she was gone and people started leaving but I stayed I was so sad I just sat there and stared at my friend list

I return to this because it’s one of those few examples of blending mediums extremely well.
The contrasting in-game engine to the stop motion clay really sells the mental disconnection between Doug and the rest of the story while also playing right into it…
Portal can be so complex yet so simple which to me will always be the main attraction to the IP
