Don’t forget about protecting yourself. A good pair of off-road boots will save your feet when that bike falls on you. I recommend the AlpineStars Tech 3 Enduros. They saved me a couple of times.
That's next on the list lol. I have leathers, but I don't like wearing those for short city rides. I do need some better shoes and boots though. Those were recommended to me before. They must be good
I only know of SW motech and emperor racings skidnplates that give u foam tape(emporor) and rubber bushings(SW) to dampen vibration noise. All companies should do that
Looks great. Thought about this kit myself. She needs barkbusters man. You drop the bike and break a lever you're gonna feel stupid when it can be avoided. You'll be ready to find balance point on those first gear wheelies too, without risking too much.
Barkbusters are the next cosmetic upgrade. I've already bent one. If it breaks, it'll be a good time for upgraded levers lol. I've been practicing wheelies for what feels like forever. Hopefully, I'll get them soon
Hey Jeff, you should do a comparison on exhausts for the KLX. Get all the popular exhausts and see which one makes the most horsepower. That would be an awesome vid
Nice vid. Sorry if you already said it where and when did you learn all you know on mecanic stuff ? I want to do more by myself on my bikes but I'm so bad at it...
Thanks! It all just came from my interest in stuff. So, that led me to videos, research, and whatever I could find. If I could offer any advice, I'd just say take your time and go by the book/service manual. I'm by no means a pro, but it is just something I'm interested in
Hello mate I love the 351, great job 👍 How often do you have to change the oil? Are the service intervals the same How high is the compression now. Thanks
I don't remember the exact compression ratio that it is now. I just know it's higher. I usually do it every 500 miles because I primarily ride off road. If I was street only, I'd stretch it to 1,500 to 2,000 miles. Valve checks and air filter checks are still the same interval.
Hey little bro, I just want to say thanks for putting the work in your videos man, you are one of reasons I am going to get me a bike. The thing is tho, that I can only find a 2019 KLX250 standard or the camo edition at my dealerships,I am totally new to this but want it to make it as project for my self to mod the bike when I got it. So question is: Can I use the same mods on a 2019 KXL ? I would appreciate an answer and keep up the great work🤙
Thanks for supporting the channel! I wouldn't make the videos if it weren't for you guys. The mods are applicable to the 2019 as well. So, you're good to go!
Just FYI, the klx250 has been functionally unchanged since 2009. It went away for a few years on the U.S. market and then recently came back with fuel injection and a few new emissions doo-dads, but other than the efi/emissions related stuff, (unfortunately including the fuel tank,) everything that fits one pretty much fits the others. This is why there was an aftermarket right from the gate when they released the "new and improved" klacks deuce-n-a-quarter. The most significant difference between any of the mods will be jet kit or pumper carb for the older ones or EJK or some other controller and emissions delete for the newer. (FYI, a lot of other fuel controllers can work for this bike, but a number of them have bailed on the American market because of draconian emissions liability laws. The EJK is simple and proven. It's a good product.) It's somewhat arguable as to which is "better." My opinion is that depends on whether you are a spring chicken, who wouldn't know any better, (in that case, efi is new, reliable and plug-and-play,) a dinosaur who is kind of old and set in your ways, (there's nothing wrong with sticking to what you know, so go with an "s" model and have fun with the old reliable carburator,) or a bright, adaptable nerd/tinkerer capable of learning new information and putting theory into practice, (you now have a choice of old skewl or new school, but you can't go wrong.)
Do u think if i put this kit on my klx300 SM that if and when i learn to take really steep lean turns it will likely hit the bashguards? I dont think so cuz it seems like when u laid it down it makes contact 1st wit the peg. Also i am putting lil bigger aftermarket pegs over the smaller stock ones so even if i lean i certainly should feel the peg scrape before the bashguard right?
You would have to be pulling some serious lean angle on the street to scrape this. I found the cage to only be an issue on the trails trying to fit through tight places. The cage scrapes first if I remember correctly. I still have mine that my friend welded after I cracked it. I took it off for better trail clearance.
Man I think that kit looks sweet I'd put that on my wr250r I ordered zada hand gards with tern signals in them so I can get rid of them big stock ones blinkers that's what you should get it would be sweet
I wasn't sure on how I would like the look, but I think it looks awesome! Integrated signals within the handguards would clean up the front a lot. Are they barkbusters or just handguards?
Plenty of things that will come into contact with your flesh in the woods :)....... lol j.k. I like the idea ... personaly I would just get the skid plat but I have crashed mine over a dozen times lol so I dont mind if the plastics and stuff get damaged... thanks for the awsome vids imagunna make a 351 boar on mine once I have to rebuild it but at 12000 miles I took my compression test worh a brand new compression tester and it was 160 psi!!!
That's true, I figure the cage will be good for street riding. I can take it off for off road riding. Surprisingly it does not get in the way too much. Good to know some compression numbers. I have yet to test mine, I guess it would be a good idea to
I dont understand you wheelie issues my friend would ,Infinite wheelie a 50 cc BWS all the time just let it rev and release the clutch its will go up . Im no moto expert and Im looking to buy this bike it seems good , whats up with the EJK can you preset it on you own or it some mecanical job to do?
It will come up, but I need to develop my skills to keep it at balance point. The EJK comes with a preset map, that you can adjust in three RPM regions. Low, Medium and high. Then, you can adjust the transition points between them
Christ I might as well invest in an air compressor and gun. everything on this bike is impossible to take off by hand lol. Which is a good thing I guess.
Lol, it's good to know things won't just rattle out. The toughest bolts for me were the motor mount bolts and the sprocket nut. Both of them came off with my corded impact though. It definitely is handy!
@@jhmotorclub6916 haha same here! I attempted the motor mounts yesterday by hand, and yeah that was futile. I’m going nuclear this morning with the gun. I’m sure that bottom bolt will be hard to get to though. I’m just going to hold on to my friends gun and compressor for a while in case I need anything else changed 😂

I bought the crash bars and the center kick stand. All top quality stuff.

I got their rear rack on my KLX. I love it.
Hey Jeff, you should do a comparison on exhausts for the KLX. Get all the popular exhausts and see which one makes the most horsepower. That would be an awesome vid
It would be really informational. The bill would stack up quick though at about $500 a piece lol
the cotter pin you took out has a very important function so what if your wheel nut comes off while riding
Bark busters should be on your list of protection for it since if you do drop it you won't break a lever.
They definitely are on the list. I have quite a few things that I need to get for the KLX
Excellent review and tutorial.
Thank you 👍. Nice video
swotech skid plate looks a lot easier to install and a lot better coverage. That engine guard looks liffy for trail riding, sticks out really far
It looks a little but beefier. I'm satisfied with the coverage I have now. I'll try it out on the trail. It doesn't feel really wide while on the bike

What is the weight of your build after your all done very curious to know
I'm not sure. I would think I'm close to stock with the weight reduction from the exhaust, and the crash kit
My skid plate rattles like the dickens at certian rpms. Coming off soon if I can't resolve
I wish you would have shown putting in the axle slider rod that goes through the wheel
Sorry about that, the front just requires a quick tap with a hammer. I didn't feel like like having to pull it back out. The rear just slides right in
