    Always being the new kid can really fuck you up. 13 schools is a LOT. In the USA we say 13 as an unlucky number....

    At first I was very happy feeling good when I quit drinking but then couple of months in,,,,I was sooo crazy that good feeling” wasn’t there anymore!!! I didn’t know what I was going through?!?….well what I was going through was I had to deal with everything, the real shit” WITH NO BOOZE!! ITS REAL!! So now I just have to learn how to deal with life….Your so right, it’s not easy…

      Oh gosh how I relate! Yeah, quitting drinking is one thing. The next big and most important part is self-development. We are like new born babies.. we have to teach ourselves how to cope in healthier ways, what we like, what we don't, setting boundaries, making solid friendships, owning our sh*t and seeing what works. It's gonna take time - probably a forever thing but it's the most worthwhile journey any of us will make! 😁

    I’ve only watched a few of your videos but this is my favourite so far, completely agree with everything you said - it’s scary at first when you realise you don’t really know yourself as much as you thought! But also fascinating and exciting. I’d also love to hear what your favourite sobriety/mindset/self improvement books are at some point? Always on the hunt for new ones 🙂

I've been talking about making a list of books/ resources so thank you for the reminder!! I'll get back on that and share it on my channel soon! 🧡

    At 6:24 made me laugh..just literally fucking sit with it....the facial expression is like the person your speaking to is not getting it and you've had enough of explaining it ha ha

      Hahaha i hear so many people say 'just sit with it' but always thought it sounds so abstract?! When actually it can mean just literally sitting. With it. So the frustration was aimed at myself 😂😂

    Hi, Only just started watching your channel and I think your videos are really helpful. I’ve been sober now for 4weeks 💥 but this weekend I’ve had a few bottles of Alcohol free lagers. I was wondering if you used them or leave them alone? Thanks.

    • @recoverywithme
      @recoverywithme  2 роки тому +2

      That’s fab, thank you so much! And nice one on the 4 weeks!! 💪🏼💪🏼 I find people have varying opinions on the AF alternatives. I kind of sit in the middle - I’m one of those odd people who actually likes some of the AF wine options, so sometimes I pick one up to have in the fridge. I don’t find them triggering and I don’t have them that often. I guess it depends how the AF lagers make you feel? If you have a neutral relationship with them I think it’s more than fine - if they remind you too much of booze or you find them a bit triggering, I would choose something else. I hope that made some sort of sense? 🤞🏼🤪

    I have a drinking problem but also a gambling problem too. Whenever l get drunk l head to the bars and drink gamble and wake up the next day with a hangover and an empty wallet. I then hate myself.

      Thanks for sharing this - I've worked in the gambling industry (many years ago) so this did touch a nerve for me. I left after 8 months as the damage caused to people is undeniable (staff included). It is designed to get people addicted and play on our weaknesses. Alcohol is toxic enough on it's own but as we know it is also a gateway. I think you're doing great by opening up and starting to accept that you're not happy with the fallout. There are many many organisations who specialise in this area, seek them out and see how many likeminded people are there to help. There is no shame other than what you choose to put on yourself so get out of that comfort-zone, seek out what you need in terms of support to pull yourself out of this 'habit mind'. Re-wiring our brain is possible, but we have to choose it and do the uncomfortable stuff 😁

      @@shawndavidson8745 waheyy that's awesome! These seemingly small steps add up to some big change. I'm such an all or nothing person I want things to happen NOW!! So I've had to teach myself to be patient as we really are creatures of habit and that takes a bit of time to undo 😁Rooting for you!!
