Excellent! I especially loved the quote from St Ephraim and the way that you anchored the benefit of reading scripture to the very presence of the Holy Spirit who turns these written words into living words in our minds, soul and spirit. I am very grateful for this teaching series you and the other fathers provide for us in and by the Grace of God.
Sola Scriptura is a Modern (post-1500) Heresy. However, if we do not know the Word of God (the Bible), we will not know the Word of God (Jesus Christ). So said Saint Jerome. Christ left us a Church, not a Bible. In fact, it is His Church that gave us the Bible (complete). That is why we read the Bible, in the Holy Spirit, within the Church, with the Fathers (Apostolic Tradition). Otherwise, left to our own devices, we will come up with 40,000 different interpretations, like so many Protestants.
