It's pretty impressive that you've gone to the trouble to learn all about architectural structures, terminology, and form - further than just symbols and carvings. Not many people go this far in theory videos about any game, never mind LoZ. You have my blessing as an architect 🫡😊

@@MoxieWatts Amazing. I very much feel that if you keep this standard of analysis of Architecture and Design for future videos, it will unlock a super strong understanding of the lore and set you ahead of others. Architecture in lore and world building is underrated. I find that Dark Souls is another game that integrates architecture in very well :)

For some reason I never considered that that canyon could be the result of an excavation, it seems so obvious now. The forgotten temple being the old temple of time is also something I never considered, I've always really stuck to the idea of it being the sealed temple and the lore books simply being retconned, but I really like your idea here! It would make a lot of sense given the location.
    2 things though:
1: The Goddess Sword became the Master Sword, the mention on the wiki about them both existing at the same time is talking about a temporary period. It follows a clear path from its creation to its reforging to its travel to the past and placement, there isn't really any room for it to duplicate. I know the point of the series is heavy speculation (and you acknowledged that the Goddess Sword might not still exist) and time travel can be pretty weird in Zelda, but I figured I'd point that out since imo the Goddess Sword still existing goes contrary to the events of the game, and would require a notable explanation if it showed up again somehow.
2: We don't know for sure that Demise's consciousness is still inside the Master Sword. Impa said she was sticking around to watch over the seal as Demise's consciousness decayed, and when you return in the future, Impa dies in a way similar to the Sheika monks in BotW who have fulfilled their purpose. I think it would be reasonable to conclude that Impa also fulfilled her purpose, meaning that Demise's consciousness is likely gone now (if it wasn't, wouldn't she tell someone?). In this case, I do think the theory about him still being in the Master Sword is possible and could be cool, but it's definitely still a theory at this point and I think it's important to clarify that.
Anyway these are just my thoughts, I don't mean to be a stick in the mud about lore since I know theorizing should just be a fun time in the end and not too serious. Thanks for making these videos!

    • @MoxieWatts

That was my thought when researching this subject. It is SOOOO obvious. When I started writing about this subject, I was also coming from the bias of it was the Sealed Temple, considering the evidence that Zeltik proposed.
      1. I totally agree with you. The Goddess Sword still existing is highly unlikely, but I felt it was worth mentioning considering the theory about the Master Sword I released and the connections to the Goddess Statue from Skyward Sword. It would have felt wrong to exclude this possible conclusion.
      2. Okay so this is out there, but I have some evidence he could still be in there from something recently brought to my attention. On page 167 of Creating a Champion, "The Master Sword is the only blade of its kind in this world. It was damaged during the Guardians assault during the Great Calamity as Link fled with Princess Zelda." The concept art supports my claim, the third image in it shows medium damage and covered in Malice. This is how it appears in the memories. It's worth noting that the Malace attracting to the blade could invite the possibility of Demise still existing in it.
I like the second theory more, but both the goddess Sword and the Guardian factory could both theoretically be true at the same time. Most of my theories are probably not possible or not true. But I feel like they need to be suggested for the dialogue we are sharing right now. I'm just opening the space for what is possible to expand your mind a little. 😊

Sheikah tech being powered by time shift stones make so much sense. The preservation of the sheikah monks, the time gates, the guardians, but most importantly, the little egg guardian from age of calamity. If he’s powered by the time shift stones, it would make a lot of sense as to why he was able to travel through time like he did. 10/10 theory work

I personally like the theory about ganon being sealed there. The small amount of knowledge about the location and how it is certainly bigger than what we can explore certainly allows it to be more open ended for tear of the kingdom.

12:53 if it was indeed going to be named that, it could connect it to tomb of the first king of hyrule from minish cap,
Gustaf, this is where he was buried and where the hero of minish gained the ability to make his way to the sky,
If I remember correctly in minish cap the region in which the tomb rested was called "The royal valley" or something along the lines of that, and what was directly to the left of the royal Vallely? That's right Mount cernal, and what is to the left of the forgotten temple?

I've pointed out that there is a major lack of dome, on his structure. I do think it's worth looking at the other end of the canyon, though. This sounds mind blowing- but I must say that the Master Sword doesn’t/can’t necessarily be destroyed by the Goddess’s Sword because, let’s remember, the Master Sword IS the Goddess’s Sword. In Skyward Sword we start with the Goddess’s Swords but as we progress and have the sword blessed with the sacred flames it turns INTO the Master Sword, so this names don’t speak of 2 different objects, but one in 2 different stages. Still I am mind blown with the speculations made in this video, keep it up with the awesome content!

Taking stuff back in time does not duplicate it, 'cuz it disappears the moment it goes back in time. MAYBE you could win one battle in the present by having your surviving soldiers go back and fight alongside their past selves to double your numbers for a short time, but as soon as their past selves go back in time, you have only the survivors once again. So it is with Guardians, Timeshift Stones, and the Master Sword. When someone travels through time, no copy of themselves remains in the time they traveled from - only their past self.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love your theories. But I do have one gripe with this one which is what you said about Hylia planning things out for the second theory. As far as I know about her (but that really is a whole lot), the goddess Hylia isn't an omniscient god, so she wouldn't know everything that's going to happen 50,000 years from when she put the plan in place.
Now, that's not saying that she couldn't have put the plan in place, just that she wouldn't have known all that would happen with it. Which makes sense imo, why would a god that knows everything that will happen, not leave plans of some sort so that the Sheikah could build their guardians in a way that makes them immune to Malice?
That's literally the only issue I have with either of the two main theories. Though I will say that the moment you talked about a cave being under the temple, my mind immediately thought of the third theory. XD

Very nice video, I never heard the theory about the sealed temple being the temple of time from Lanauryu before, it makes sense! However I think you under estimate the amount of time between Skyward sword and BOTW. Hylia preparing 50,000 years? Hundreds of thousands would be more accurate. I mean time travel in Skyward sword is already thousands of years, surely as we look at the huge timeline and the way Hyrule castle moves on the map and Temple of Time moving around, gotta be at least a thousand years between games but that doesn't even take into account the gaps in the timeline where new games could fit.
Anyway I just don't think the royal family would have any knowledge of the past by the time of BOTW. King Rhoam's past is the 10,000 years ago first battle with the calamity, he wouldn't know about time shift stones, the ocarina of time, the harp, Demise and all of that. They knew the existence of Fi but they didn't know her name or that she's sealed Demise, right? She's just a voice in the sword that's supposed to help the hero. So did they know about the mining facility, time shift stones? No way. Maybe the Sheikah knew about an ancient facility stocked with the stones 10,000 years ago but the royal family likely knew nothing. credit to you though because they likely did cause the canyon that made the lost temple come out from under the surface. As to why those guardians were placed there? Likely by the Sheikah 10,000 years ago to protect a holy site of the Goddess Hylia or to stop people from finding those time shift stones.

Short time watcher, first time poster. Could it be possible that the calamity was actually caused by the excavation by the royal family in the first place? Maybe they disturbed something in the lost temple and then tried to cover it up by putting all the guardians there. Then they began gathering the team (Divine Beast heros, Link, and Zelda) because they were afraid of what they had awoken in the temple. Idk... I think to me it is literally an identical replica of the sealed grounds almost exactly to the detail. I don't know why it wouldn't be. I feel like people are making too much of a big deal around the location being changed, when its been possibly hundreds of thousands or even millions of years since the events in skyward sword. I feel like tectonic plates switching, or perhaps they moved the location of the temple of time to protect the actual sealed grounds. or something. i dunno. I feel like the updrafts coming up from beneath the forgotten temple are definitely from the sealed grounds, which is not only sealing a great evil, but also is literally filled with hot air pockets coming up from under it. It seems pretty clear to me at least. Or the theory that the lost woods and the great plateau switched places at some point, which would make it line up with the actual lore of the temple of time being built on top of the sealed grounds, because it would then line up. something like that. I guess I just don't find this as a very satisfying answer personally. but i appreciate how you looked into these things regardless.

Hi Moxie, I'm an avid Zelda theorist fan and I've been following your videos the last couple days (found out about your channel from that Capt Burgeson collab, super great stuff!!!) and I'm really on board with lots of them. From them I've been branching out to other zeldatubers I hadn't seen before. One reccomendated video that popped up was this one: ua-cam.com/video/8JbRFuFNOFM/v-deo.html by the youtuber Broseph LaCasque, where he talks about the fitting in all the maps of Hyrule. The first video he made, like many others, I noticed he didn't mention the Forgotten Temple. This was the main topic of his 2nd vid (linked above). At 14:00 of his video, he shows a quote from Creating A Champion, that I noticed you hadn't touched on:
"The Forgotten Temple was constructed in order to keep a record of the heroes throughout history who aided the royal family of Hyrule in the countless ancient battles against Ganon, who unleashed the Calamity on a recovering world."
Similarly, he agrees that the Forgotten Temple cannot be the same Sealed Temple from SS. He more or less sums up with a speculation that the Forgotten Temple was built for the purpose of the above quote, to honor those who fought in the Calamities, as the sage Rauru's Temple of Time was built on the remains of the Sealed Temple. Along with how it all fits with his video of the map aligning, the location of the Forgotten Temple is on opposite ends of where the SS Temple of Time/ Lanayru Mining Facility is located. It is possible it could be a similar facility, but for it to be the same one, would have to mean it traveled via tectonics, etc, or was purposefully moved, North for hundreds-thousands of miles. I highly reccomend the map video, it's really cool and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!!! Thanks for reading this far 💜✌

ummm wrong province of hyrule.... That factory and gate are in Lanayru which in BotW is just to the northeast of Kakariko and north of Hateno. The map of Skyward sword is more of a "suggestion" of a map. nothing is noted as being below Skyloft but at the end of the game we learn that it is perfectly above the sealed temple.
Which is the case on the map only if height is upwards on the map as well as north. In fact Lanayru on the map is flipped, the ocean is to the east of Hyrule and to the south east of the Eldin Province. If you drop into an area and have no sense of direction all directions are the same so the flipping isn't an issue, neither is the false placements. Link simply wasn't able to identify the positions and was going by a relic that looks like a map while being more of a three piece key to portals.
The time since the era of Skyloft is so long before BotW that Lanayru probably recovered from the strip mining desertification since that wasn't it's natural state, so rather then it being the Geruda desert I am inclined to say it is the very same Lanayru we see in BotW and since the mine and factory were in a natural low point they are now submerged in the channel of water which passes through Lanayru.

@moxiewatts i added you to discord (even though I hate discord). Maybe, one day, we will be able to talk about some theories. I have so many in my head but due to my sever ADHD I'm incapable of writing them down or thinking one to the end haha. So maybe, a great mind like yours, with the same passion and energy towards Zelda, will be able to help me with some of those and find a new Theory for your videos :D
See ya. And keep those videos rolling ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
Btw. I'm a 29 years old female, and not a creepy stalker or something. Just a person who genuinely tries to find some Zelda enthusiast, who are willing to talk to me about this game. No one around me, who has played Zelda, is interested in theories. Just in the game in general. :(

Funny you mention ADHD, I am diagnosed and take meds for it everyday. I have to force myself to do stuff like this. I would love more homies to help me with these theories, they can be quite complicated.
