Thanks for the video Sir ! Can you please make next video on 8 bit footage and its settings, especially the render settings. Because after rendering, graded footage gets distorted. Thanks !
I was literally about to search "color correction Casey Faris" but here you are! LOL Diving into this right now! Hoping this is a good tutorial for improving the color quality of a clip, then applying that to rest. I noticed on the video I'm editing right now the color/lighting varies between clips. Thanks both of you! Edit: well that question was answered @1:23 lol. Okay back to the vid.
Sir how can we put the red color box around thing which we want to highlight like you do... And make part in the box highlighted and part out of box less highlighted or little dark.
So I got the new Mac from a previous video. Saw that Mac preferences should be changed to Rec 709 a and tick the box using Mac viewer. What’s your opinion on this?
Just woke up and learn something new! THX for that! Your a great teacher. Clear and straight to the point! That's one reason why yesterday I bought your Ultimate DaVinci Resolve Bundle (Black Friday Deal). I woke up very early this morning, excited to start it!
Thank you very much! I'm new to color grading and I'm shooting with three different cameras. A Sony a7iii, canon T3i, and Iphone 8. Color management has helped greatly. I have them very close to looking like the same camera. I"m still working with in camera settings but they look pretty damn good. Thx again!😀
Awesome video, but what's the difference between setting the Input Color Space AND adding a new node and apply COLOR SPACE TRANSFORM to it? Would love to get an answer for this. Keep going w/ the great work!
Yes! I've tried explaining color space to so many people, the potency of unifying different cameras this way. But you've done it so succinctly. Well done. Question: what's your thoughts on working in DaVinci Wide Gamut?
Thanks for the very useful video! Finally one that made sense to me. A question though... What if my camera (a simple S22 smartphone) is not in the input color space list of Resolve? Is there a way to import or create such things accessible to newbies?
Grading with a new m1 mac. Non calibrated monitor. What do you set in preferences ? I notice when I upload to Instagram my Davinchi viewer does not match my Instagram post.
This i knew already but it was still great to listen in a different explainer. Good stuff. Question. When compared to Aces color transform, which one is better at bringing the cameras closer?
Great way of explaining this! I would love to see a part 2 about handling colorspaces/gammas not in the preset list. The new iPhone “ProRes2020” HDR format is BT.2100 gamma w/ BT.2020 colors. But it’s not in Resolve’s input colorspace list. Would you use a colorspace transform for this (and bypass color management)? or is there a better way? Thanks!
Grt video..thank you. Great title too.. I would love to see a video on the actual science ..e.g...how do 'they" decide exactly which shade of a nuanced blue, say, to match with a particular shade of blue in rec709...etc..i.e. is there a standard industry accepted conversion for each camera etc..? I assume for example that most cameras can capture more colors than are available in rec709 displays?
Sir how can we put the red color box around thing which we want to highlight like you do... And make part in the box highlighted and part out of box less highlighted or little dark.
I shot in Cine like D (Panasonic), But I only see Panasonic V Gamut/V-log, when I choose this it make it worse than it was before. What should I do or choose in this case?
Hey, I noticed that qualifying skin tones in an auto color managed project is way easier than doing it when using the cst or a cst lut.. so when to work in simple davinci YRGB an when in auto color managed
Can anyone help. I'm quite new to this and still not sure about colour management settings. The camera I use is the d5 mark 3 by canon. My main viewing monitor is a 49" HD TV 1080p, what is the best color management settings to use. And also if I was going to use a CST what setting would I use for best results.
Color Management "simply" applies a color transform operation on the Y & Z axis whenver you control the Gamma color wheel and move it five degrees to the East . . . 🙂LOL!
what are the default settings of color management incase I do not want to use it ? I am trying to make a short version video of a film in resolve and once I bring in the file, open in source monitor, it looks really washed out and pale like a log footage. I don't know what to do now :( please help
I always try to use professional color correction in my UA-cam videos, but it takes so much time (8 hours per 153 scenes on average). Any tips on how I can speed up this process?🙃
I film all my footages with a smartphone made in China. I upload all my projects as 4K UHD. I hope to make some money on UA-cam to be able to buy a better camera. Then I'll return...

Argghh didn't make it for a day! Any chance to do an exception? :D
Excellent video. Love the analogy of having an assistant who helps you.
Thanks. Love your color management video too.

Finally, THANK YOU! I watched so many videos to try and solve my "washed out" look issue and nothing worked...until now! Woohooo

I bought the program last year during their Black Friday sale and it was so worth it. I am still using it to this day.
Just buy this course..I bought it last year and never regret it..you will learn DaVinci and much more

Never knew color management could be explained this easily.
Great. Perfect sync with my documentary film with Nikon, Canon, BM, GoPro and even an old Sony cam.
Just to let you know, I clicked the like button before I even got into the video. I already know your stuff is going to be good.
We need ACES in depth tutorial in your version,Please. Had enough .
Very cool and simple explanation!
Just found your channel. Great source of info for a beginner. Just need to wait for the next Black Friday now! 👍
RCM became such a relief for grading braw videos. Just click that checkbox and apply contrast.
Excellent explanations. I've bought the Ultimate DaVinci Resolve Bundle + Lighting 101 (Black Friday Deal) as a result. Can't wait to start.
Truly simplified. Thank you.
The perfect video for what I needed!
Loud and clear, excelente tutorial. Thanks.
Amazing tutorial! Thank you.
You’re a fabulous educator my friend. Thank you!
Awesome video, but what's the difference between setting the Input Color Space AND adding a new node and apply COLOR SPACE TRANSFORM to it? Would love to get an answer for this. Keep going w/ the great work!
Did you ever figure this out?
@@DeeAreDee no one answered
As far as my understanding goes, the main difference is that with a CST node you can decide where you want to place it in the grading process.
@@lukotube And what does it mean?
@@joaomestre2584 who knows..... LOL
Alex, ur beard is cyan :)
This is definitely a helpful function, thanks for talk about it :)

Hi, thanks for the video! What is a difference changing color management / input color space vs. adding color space transform ofx node?
I think it still works in rec 709 since the timeline color space would still be rec 709
This is a man who dyes his beard cyan so his face pops more in real life
And I thought I was the only one seeing a beard in a strange cyan color.
wonderfull ❤🔥❤🔥
Hi, Thanks ! That was very helpfull....✌
Thanks for the very useful video! Finally one that made sense to me.
A question though... What if my camera (a simple S22 smartphone) is not in the input color space list of Resolve? Is there a way to import or create such things accessible to newbies?
Great tutorial! What can we do if the camera is not in the list of Davinci Resolve? The only solution is a LUT file for this?
Good question. Also curious. 😊
Grading with a new m1 mac. Non calibrated monitor.

did you find any work around for this Eric?
Nice intro......and video

I shoot from my Galaxy Device. How do I Color Manage it or what Input Color Space will be used for a Camera from Phone ??
Sir how can we put the red color box around thing which we want to highlight like you do... And make part in the box highlighted and part out of box less highlighted or little dark.
Color management is great if all your camera's recording spaces have a profile, but what if there isn't one that matches your camera?
I shot in Cine like D (Panasonic), But I only see Panasonic V Gamut/V-log, when I choose this it make it worse than it was before. What should I do or choose in this case?
Hello there. Maybe you are filming in a Gh5, right? If so, we also use this camera and it doesn't have V-log. Wich are 2 different color profiles.
Very nice ❤️

What if you shot with an iPhone 13 pro max? There is no choice for that camera in the color management drop down menu. What would you do?
What did you do in the end?
Can anyone help. I'm quite new to this and still not sure about colour management settings. The camera I use is the d5 mark 3 by canon. My main viewing monitor is a 49" HD TV 1080p, what is the best color management settings to use. And also if I was going to use a CST what setting would I use for best results.
INPUT COLOR SPACE does not appear in the right click menu?

Hi, is anyone having an issue with top bar not becoming part of full screen on new macbook when using full screen on resolve?
I found it always has some color shifting when I put the graded footages from davinci resolve back to my fcpx. Is there any soloution?
5 degrees to the east 😭😭😭
Great tutorial, thank you !
