Voice isolation is incredible. I had an interview with a guy that I was moving quite a bit and could clearly hear the clothing rubbing on the lab mic cable. Voice isolation completely removed the unwanted sound and the voice was very clear and clean.
Went from Hitfilm Express to DaVinci Resolve in 2021 and oh boy ...never going back ...but as a real small time YT creator I could really use the Studio version to go to next level. I really love your tutorials, been following you since 2021 and just love your vids.
Probably the best infomercial I've ever watched. Been meaning to pick up studio for quite some time, but as a hobbyist I didn't think there were any features that would really help me with these stuff I normally do. But this showed me otherwise! Keep up the great work as always.
I’ve been waiting for a video like this! I just got studio as a gift for a gig I did and needed this exactly video. Thanks Alex! Never fail to bring the value brother
Scan computers are a superb company. I stick with them because of trust. About 15 years ago I bought an editing system from another company who actually bought the system off Scan (which I didn't know). It went faulty towards the end of year one and the company wouldn't fix it. They said by the time it got to them and was fixed, it would be out of warranty and the fault is probably caused by myself. Frustrated, I called Scan for advice. They then told me they had built the system for this company and it had a two year warranty (at that time). Anyway, they offered advice on how to fix it and sent what I needed. So, I'm updating my system this month and choosing Nvidia as Resolve performs better on their cards. 24GB of memory on the graphics card. That's 16gb more than I presently use. Crazy amount. Fun though. Another great video Alex, although your twin could be after your job. They now have 3 year warranties.
As someone who's agreed to do their first wedding shoot soon, that Face Detection with Smart Bins is going to be a HUGE time saver over manually organising them all. Top video as always sir!.
🔥🔥🔥 Big thanks to SCAN mralextech.net/SCAN 🔥🔥🔥 CONFIRMED! AV1 IS available in the FREE version too providing you have a capable GPU! I said this in the video but wanted to double check so confirmed with a dev this morning :)
Alex I have been wanting to get studio for a while and you just gave me way more reasons than the one I had (voice isolation). Super cool. Super helpful. Thank you much!
oh Alex my friend, you are becoming my favorite Davinci content creator on youtube for real xD I've started liking your videos before even watching them cz I just know they'll be useful 😂
Mate great videos. Well presented, clear, concise, enough extra detail to add context without all the stupid fluff (that too many YTbers add) , nice bits of humour, and again short sharp practical examples and demo of the things you're discussing. Informative and very easy to watch and listen to, keep up the great work, I'll def be going through more of your tutes. I also had no idea Studio could do all these things, impressive bit of kit!
I'd love to see more on the option of AV1. What exactly do all these settings do. Also instead of quality being at "best" it would be interesting to reason it like that: If the whole project was shot on a GH5 at 200mbps then you can choose "restrict to" and choose the appropriate data rate to match the camera. That way the file is no bigger than needed and no less.
The only one I've used so far is the voice isolation which is phenomenal. I didn't know half of these others existed. Super cool, must play! Thanks!!! 👍
Subscribed because of this video. Great stuff. I just used the face recognition for an event that allowed me to group all shots of the speaker together from the entire event. PERFECT! Thank you!
Alex just wanted to say your videos have been super easy to follow and between this one and the 18.5 beta updates I’ve pulled the trigger and ordered myself a Speed Editor with Studio. I think the time saving quality of life benefits, even for a relative novice doing hobbyist stuff (my film/TV essay/review channel) like myself will be worth it for sure after watching your videos! Awesome stuff, can’t wait to watch some more! 🙌🏻
This video is timely! I was sharing with creators in meeting yesterday the need to get DaVinci Resolve and upgrade to studio. I forwarded this on. Also, you showed me things that I didn’t even know. Thank you! Will test out my NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000. 😊
That Depth Map is flippin' BONKERS! If it can do that reliably, the ramifications are huge. e.g. I can't afford a full frame camera at the moment (I have one but it's old and much better for photos), but I can film with a M4/3 and get a similar effect with DOF by applying that. Similarly if you don't have good AF, you can just shoot at like f8 and apply bokeh in post!
Update: I actually LOLed at you saying "Speedwarp... It's basically magic let's be honest". 😂 I completely agree. There are a few things that I will never understand to be something other than magic. Auto-tinting sunglasses WTF.
Alex Love your concise videos - no messing around, straight to the point, sprinkled with humour. Other UA-camrs please note! Any chance you could do one on upscaling say SD to HD, or HD to 4K? I heard it uses AI and maybe takes a long time. It would be good to get some idea how long and how good a job it does. Many thanks.
It's super easy to do. It's called SuperScale. Right click on the clip within media pool and then click Properties. Option is in there. It's decent, not amazing tbh as it mostly just sharpens things up a bit but its never blown me away as a feature (not like the others).
@@MrAlexTech Umm - see what you mean. Not sure if it's much better than just cutting the footage into a 4k timeline. Especially if you're going to eventually downscale. I guess it works ok for the odd shot.
The Studio features are very powerful and definitely worth it. The price is actually more then reasonable for what we are getting. The full-blown top of the line professional video editor with a lifetime license including all the future updates. If you love editing, just get the studio version. You'll also never have to wonder if you should do so. Ever 🙃
Back in late 2020 when I bought Resolve Studio, the big thing for me was being able to work with the 10-bit h264 files from the GH5 I had at the time. There's also the noise reduction which means not having to buy a plugin like Neat Video as well. Oh, and all these newer features added in by software updates free of charge. Worst part though is having to download the whole installer just for a version point update (at least on Windows that is).
Cheers Alex, voice isolation I use a lot to take wind noise away, I also find a couple of the settings in dialogue leveller help change some poor audio
Great information Alex. I really enjoy your videos, very easy to follow and informative and funny!…I am a loyal follower of your channel. Keep it coming! As others have mentioned, as a hobbyist, I have a hard time justifying getting the studio version…the wife would kill me😬
The voice isolation looks like it might be good if you get unwanted background possibly copyrighted music playing as you are recording while walking around.
Thank you so much. A perfect introduction to these features. Easy to understand. I think what's als interesting about the studio version are features to improve (imperfect) footage as the deflicker and the denoise tools.
Voice isolation has saved several of my moto-vlog videos! However if I am also syncing to external audio at the same time (i.e. the sound of my motorbike) then there are timing issues between the two audio clips when V.I. is active so it's not quite as effective as I hoped Still awesome though and like I said, stopped several videos from going in the bin 😊
I-ve already bought it since 5 weeks or so, now i-m learning. My main target are slideshows, and maybe audio spectrums, but i can't find much about the latter.
Thanks for a great rundown. I was wondering if it would be possible to use the depth map function to fade different parts of an image in and out of focus using fey frames. For example, two people sitting at different distances from the camera, and simulating focus pull to move them in and out of focus as a scene progresses.
I need to try the magic mask for sure. As you mentioned, some of these are resource hogs. I find the face refine works well either face one or portrait but not if the person changes from one to the other. I tends to get lost. And if you have a long clip, it does take a while depending on your system. Thanks for the vid.
this voice isolation is probably better than the one in final cut which is pretty good itself. But i wan't to move to Davinci and these other features in the paid version is worth it
I'm thinking of getting the studio version even though I would probably only use a few of things it can do over the free version. I am particularly interested in the voice isolation and think this would be very useful.
Quick question, I have magic masked something, alpha output and all that jazz, it shows up over the clip that’s under it, but when I try to recrop it or move the actual masked video to different places so it appears in a different spot over the second video, it completely disappears, so I go back to magic mask, and click the re render both ways button, it redoes it and I’m back to where I was before. Magic masked video clip, showing up over the clip below it, yet I don’t seem to have any say it where it actually appears over the second video below it. If anyone has experienced this, or has a solution please reply, it is causing quite a headache.
Voice isolation is incredible. I had an interview with a guy that I was moving quite a bit and could clearly hear the clothing rubbing on the lab mic cable. Voice isolation completely removed the unwanted sound and the voice was very clear and clean.

Literally the only channel I watch for Resolve tips and tricks. Never stop bro!🙏🏾

Brilliant tips as always....that smart reframe will be very handy when I want to repurpose normal landscape videos into youtube shorts ..thank you
For me the noise removal feature is the most important feature
I went from Shotcut to Davinci Resolve and never looked back lol. Your tutorials and effects have helped me edit so much faster much appreciated!
I came back just to hit the like button! Better late than never 🤪
Thanks for all you do Alex!

I’ve had studio for a few months now and didn’t know about some of these, really helpful video!
Didn't expect Smart Reframe to work this well. Will have to play around with some of these.

Been on the fence about the speed editor and studio for a while. You've just given me the shove I needed! Ordered from SCAN today.

I purchased today so this video is timely

This is why I love this channel.
Bro your clones were so clean!!!! 👍
Wow that intro: making a pretty complicated special effect look casual! :)
@13:56 is an amazing tool. More on this, PLEASE! Thank you for your effort.
Sweep warp ai in davinci is something special. Especially when used with 240fps 4k RED raptor footage.

you always hit the nail right at the head. love it. thank you.
This is a great list! I wrote your info on my grease board so I know what to practice.
Thanks for that, was playing along with my own footage as you were going and made some of my clips I was already happy with, even better!! Thanks!!
still learning Resolve but i will still buy the Studio version because it sound great.
