Glad to see your still doing the series. You can already see changes to the region since your first videos. Love the narration as well, fascinating to know about the history of places I'd normally just drive by.
My g/ ma lived in the Holy Cross & Rosehill area all the time I knew her .Mam was born & brought up in Wallsend & married in St Peter's Church up by Burnside School It's more interesting with dialogue ,especially for those of us who left many years ago .Thank tou
My mate and schoolfriend Dekka Read lived in Holy Cross. Passed away a few years ago sadly, lovely lad / fella. Spent a lot of time around these streets from Burnside school, at the Burn - many a great summer ( anyone remember the " monkey tree " ), the Tavern on Churchill Street was my watering hole and the Bewick ( up Denby Avenue , into the " Morry ). Had a very very happy childhood and I love this vid. Many thanks. By the way my first NB home was Murrey Road, years at Rothbury Gardens. Wonderfull memories.
I remember when there no houses on the other side of Churchill St,green grass all the way to Howdon, think it might have been a golf course at one time, there were prisoners of war there during the war,as kids we used to have snowball fights with them, the coast rd was only about two cars wide from the toon to the coast,my family lived in Savory rd,I was born in Nelson St Willington Quay 90 years ago ,no trace of it now, enjoy your blogs thank you.
