I remember fishing in a small creek in West Alexander PA when i was just a kid on my friends uncles farm. we caught brookies for hours on bread. a couple small rainbow in a decent sized pool right under a 6 foot waterfall. that day and image will forever be in my mind. such a beautiful clean little stream. I doubt it's still as pristine but one can only hope.
Corn does work but here in Wisconsin we use spawn sacks on Lake Michigan for big trout and salmon. The smaller one looked more like a brook trout than a brown especially with all the colorful spots. Another great video Alex!
At 3:44 those are mussel shells. This place looks a lot like our blue ribbon trout fishery here in KY on the Cumberland River. I’ve got several trout fishing videos on my channel from there.
Realistic Fishing yes the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery is at the base of the dam. They raise rainbows, brown, and brook trout for streams and rivers all over the state and country. They have a “hatchery creek” that feeds trout directly into the Cumberland River. Those trout also come back there to spawn naturally.
Nice video! They looked like brown trout. I’m glad the water is getting colder. I’m ready to get back out there and try my hand at trout fishing again. I will have to try the corn
I used corn when I would fish down at the point in Pittsburgh, it worked amazingly well and is cheap but I never thought of using it for trout fishing, I will now thanks. Also I used ivory soap as a bait and caught catfish with it, it really works, but it's not as good as corn or worms.
I need to go trout fishing again only have gone once when I was a kid. That was a really nice brown. My grandpa used to tell me about him using bright orange foam earplugs for trout. Never tried it but throwing it out there to see if anyone else has heard of something similar.
I find that the main difference between using corn vs power bait is that trout will swallow power bait but short strike corn. Stocked trout will take off running with power bait but with corn the hit at it kinda like fishing for catfish. It helps to hold your rod so you can set the hook when they hit the corn. If we are using power bait we put our rods in rod holders and just let the trout hook themselves! Nice area your fishing!!!!
Not true...fishing with corn the right way I have never had a rainbow that didn't have the hook swallowed way down so you catch only what you want to keep and at times it is so bad that you have to cut the head off to get the hook out
Powerbait is extremely effective for rainbow trout. Especially when rigged with a weightless octopus hook. And attached to a bobber. Use 2 feet of line between the bobber and hook.
I must be honest I like how you show snags limbs baits hanging up thats realistic and then you catch a good one .awesome video Keep on keeping it #Realistickfishing
The trout in our Tasmanian waters don’t fall for any of the powerbait, bobbers etc. you have to use natural baits, flys, you might get lucky with spinners. Would love to see a video for newbies using those methods. The methods in these vids only work on our “farm stocked ponds and rivers”

Nice brownie! I would try a slip float rig, especially for that water. Just put a slip float above the swivel and set the stop so the sinker sits about a foot off the bottom. Gives the bait a natural drift presentation and you can cover a lot more water with that current.
Quick tip try snipping the tag end down on the hook also try hair rigging the corn with a couple of imitation curnals to make the bait sit up off the bottom

One small advantage of PowerBait is the growing number of waters which don't allow corn and similar to be used as baits. However, even in those areas, I still prefer natural baits (worms, eggs, insects, etc) over PowerBait. I remember as a kid/child finding out corn worked well along with cheese to catch fish which was nice since it was cheap. I do not know for certain as I know little of fishes digestive tracks but it is disappointing to hear as me and my brothers had many great times fishing in the old river beside the house with corn or going bank to bank with a long net applied to polls just walking up the bank and in to catch fish. Oh, this is what I tought was the case... Commission fisheries biologist Tom Bender at our Benner Spring Fish Research Station conducted a study in 1992 that examined the impact of corn on trout. For the study, two groups of hatchery rainbow trout were held in separate tanks and tested for 54 days. In one tank, 20 rainbow trout (average size 8.3 inches) were fed a diet of whole kernel corn. In the second tank, 20 rainbow trout of the same size were fed a standard trout pellet diet.During the 54 day study period, no mortalities occurred from trout of either study group. However, study results did show that the trout fed with a corn diet did not digest the corn particularly well. The growth observed by the corn-fed trout during the study period was only about half of that observed from the trout that were fed the standard trout pellet diet. The conclusion from this study was that there appears to be little reason for concern about the short term health hazards for rainbow trout when whole kernel corn is used for bait. Although there are better diets for trout than whole kernel corn, this study confirms that mortality does not occur when trout ingest whole kernel corn.
I hadn't meant it like a complaint was just what I had heard and while I'm not certain I think in Iowa it is illegal wasn't meant to judge or criticizes just looking back on the memories as a child feeling a little disappointed others may not get a chance to have the same experience :)

Most states don’t allow corn as bait because it’s not digestible by fish. But I did catch a trout once that had a HUGE belly on it so I kept it to see what was in it and when I gutted it open I found 3 senkos in its belly!! Obviously rubber isn’t digestible either so......
