Can't tell you how many times I've listened to this song by Angelina. The sad honest 9:52 cry, the whimper, the register flip so tender and delicate, breathy glisando that follows a vibrato that quivers so delicately with restained pain . This always blows my mind.. She paints with voice.
Ho hum, just another masterpiece by Angelina Jordan! This is one of her "I think I'll just sit down here and do a masterpiece in one take" songs. Far, far better than the original.
Will there ever be a day we are NOT amazed by Angelina? She's incredible. 🥰

Angelina recorded this impromptu performance at 12 yo, long before Diana Ankudinova did her version. Grandma Mery originally filmed this, but the video was a slide show of AJ baby pictures that was very distracting to the music because the photos were so cute. Finally a fan, Sune Amtoft, made this video that complimented the music rather than distracting from it. It's one of her many Masterpieces where she just sat at her keyboard & started playing & singing on the fly. It's astonishing how she does this.
You are right. Diana did the song in 2019.
I don't think Aaron meant the "cover thing" - he just said that the style/tone reminded him of Diana, not who sang it first.

When this first came out, I listened to another reactor who said he was a huge Chris Isaak fan and didn't know how a 12-year-old girl could even attempt to cover this song. Then he listened to it and proclaimed it an absolute Masterpiece while standing and bowing down to her. All I can say is I agree with him. Peace and love.

Aside from the beautiful emotion we get from Angelina here, we also see again how a very young AJ feels so comfortable going her own way on a very well-known song. The musicality she’s had since she was a child guides her-and we hear the lyrics in a different way. Beautifully done. Her musical and vocal patience at 12 years old is unique. Another classic song that I liked before, but now I want to hear it the way Angelina delivers it.

It is worth Noting that Angelina recorded this at age 12, while Diana Ankudinova recorded her version at Age 15.

I have always thought this version done by Sune was so well done...the contrast of the visuals with the obsessive thrust of the lyrics...and he helped the sound quality as well, as the Mosarz sounded thin to me. After many listens, still Angelina wows every time..

This is clearly one of my favorite covers by Angelina. I absolutely loved this song by Chris Isaac when I first heard it. And once again, Angelina one-ups the original artist by honing her musical skills beyond what seems humanly possible. The “flip” of the register was brilliantly executed by Chris Isaac. And then along comes 12 year old Angelina Jordan to show how it really should be done.

Both versions were done the same year. Angelina was 12, Diana was 15. Angelina’s performance was recorded first.
I guess I need to be more clear...many of you are responding the same way as if I'm implying that one was INFLUENCED by the other. To be clear, I was only saying that Angelina's TONE sounded like Diana at times during this performance... something I hadn't heard from her before

Grandma Marie did the original that had photos of Angelina being 3 or 4 playing and even though we love Marie's videos but this one did not fit, it was so distracting, so I loved it when this video came out.
I think this version of AJ (Aug 20, 2019) is prior to Diana's version from Dec, 2019, her 2nd performance in the Super season and is very similar to AJ's version in terms of TPM.
To be clear, I was not for one second saying she was influenced by Diana just that that is what I was hearing

The best example of Angelina's lower register is her cover of Elvis's version of How Great Thou Art. You'll know precisely why I say Elvis once you hear it. I think it was performed for a Norwegian Christmas special, and the video background is a little weird compared to this one. She also does a low register with frybrato in the "jazzy" verion of her lastest composition Bad Valentine, with the master Toby Gad. There are at least 4 unique versions of Bad Valentine.

Yeap Angelina does Diana at 12 years old too, no problem. Funny to say this as an example, the Olympics, all sport is played by all different athletes, each their own sport. Angelina Jordan is the Olympics, an athlete that plays all sports.
What can you say? Someone who can generate so much power but some of her best is when she floats the notes like a butterfly in flight and sings like a song bird. Whom of you see a child in her eyes in the photographs that were used---I certainly do not.

Waaayyy before Diana, AA. I really like Diana's version -- but it's highly theatrical. AJ's performance is completely stripped down.
