FYI in a poll this year, over 1,200 Babymetal fans were asked to name their favorite song and _Syncopation_ came in at #6 out of 53 songs. So it is more widely popular than your first impression led you to believe.
Ok, here’s the thing: I’m relatively new to the fan base (and I really fell hard for these girls after more than 20 years of “ok, I’m out, there’s nothing interesting in music now, I’m out, screw you music business…and such and such”). So, i went to the Milan show in December 2023, they performed this song, and there was a discussion on the italian facebook fan page that was more or less “what song would you have change in the set list?” And i said “probably I would have change Syncopation with Maya, from the last album”. Well, after 6 months…there’s no chance in the world I would have said that…the drums alone for this thing are basically a master thesis in percussion. My point being this will grow on you because…this is really a great tune despite the fact that it only appeared in the Japanese version of Metal Resistance (the international version had From Dusk Till Dawn instead, which is another wonderful piece of music, btw). At least in my opinion, of course
I've seen them live last year and will see them again in Nov. It's about 2-3 minutes between songs. They drink alot of fluids. You can see them moving around on stage, in the dark. Love seeing you guys smiling and enjoying my favorite band. The hardest working ladies in music, in my opinion. Kitsune up🦊!

It is metal ... just better.🤘🦊 Once in a while one of them may make a mistake in the choreo .... you won't notice because the others spot it first and compensate to make it look like it was intentional. They've only had one real change in personnel - Su and Moa have been there right from the start. Yui last appeared in late 2017, from 2019 through to March 2020 the third girl was Riho, Kano or Momoko - from then on it was always Momoko - and she became the official third member at the start of April last year. This was a Japan exclusive track on the second album. The international release had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead ... a completely different feel but equally great song.
It's funny how different peoples favorite babymetal songs can be. Shanti isn't even in my top 30 and syncopation is in my top 5 babymetal songs. It's really a beauty of this band that there is something for almost everyone. Also this song really is a fan favorite so for most fans it really would be atleast near the top for them:D

The times I have seen them, after each song, they usually circle back around to a table in back with water, kind of hydrate and refresh, and get back to it. Great reaction guys, I have been a BM fan for about 8 years. Its great to see you guys enjoying the journey.
They practice so much, it's rather impressive. There's an oooold Fine Bros. React video of "Babymetal reacts to people reacting to Babymetal" and when one part of a song was playing all 3 girls tilt their head to the choreo in time with the music like it was subconscious. They work their butts off on the choreo side for the live shows.
I think that babymetal is the only band that can boast of not having bad songs, maybe some are less liked or are less better, but never bad. If another group came to tell me "Hey, we released this song that talks about the number 4, or this other one where we make bubble gum balloons" I would be completely out of it, but when Babymetal does it it guarantees a show from the beginning.
One of Babymetal's unspoken strengths is the superlative quality of the songwriting team. Most bands have a banger or three, and some good songs balanced out with filler. With Babymetal there is hardly any filler, some solid songs and then 75% is either awesome or it's 'OMG, all the playlists!' amazing. That's down to delivery too of course, but also to how good the song is written and composed.
Su and Moa are original members. Yui left the band in 2017 for health reasons and it took years to finally fill her spot with Momo recently. For a while they swapped “avenger” members into the spot but they had no mic.
This is such a great song and Su's vocals just soar! When Yui left and dealing with the death of guitarist Mikio Fujioka made for the toughest, hardest times for Babymetal. The somewhat temp solution they landed on was to have three dancers-known as the Avengers-rotate in and out for different performances. All these folks, including eventual member Momo are all highly trained and skilled performers themselves. I read somewhere recently-and this is the best I can remember-Moa was asked if they practiced seven days a week to perform the way they do. She-as I recall-responded a little taken aback saying "No, we only practice six days a week." That may be apocryphal but I do not doubt it as an accurate portrayal of how long and hard they work. FYI: just recently from the '23/'24 tour there is a newer performance of this song just released. And all the ladies are performing, Su, Moa and Momo. And I think everybodies performance is elevated from the high bar set by this one.
The atmospheric intros to a lot of their live songs not only serves to set the mood but also lets the girls for a minute or two get a short break to catch their breath, towel off and get some water. These ladies are incredibly fit but to keep that pace for a entire show with out the short breaks would be unattainable.
_Suki kirai suki kirai suki_ _Suki kirai suki kirai_ This is another banger track, and with the already mature side on Metal Resistance 2nd album. MikikoMetal (aka Mikiko Mizuno) is the dance choreographer and she's another important part on the foundation of this amazing group, the girls are involved in the making of some dance choreo but Mikiko-san is the responsible of all these thrilling choreographies. She's behind another famous Jpop group called Perfume and it was also the one behind Sakura Gakuin where all BM members comes from. They usually switch fast enough in between songs and even can fool around making jokes each other while drinking water and cleaning their sweat if they need it. There are mistakes here and there but most of the time are imperceptible, you can find some fancam compilation around about it especially from early era when YuiMetal was still in the group. Our queen and princesses are undecided if they are really in love, like a syncopated heart. Syncopation was the song exclusively for Japanese album while "From Dusk Till Dawn" was released for International version of Metal Resistance (of course that's my next recommendation), although later on they performed this song outside of Japan because is a blast. Along with Karate, is one of those songs many fans got that anime vibes, for me Karate would be the opening and Syncopation the ending, although it works like an opening too. Till this day those were the only BM songs with that anime vibes for me, but after the new single Divine Attack - Shingeki came out now i got three songs lol In this live compilation Kano Fujihira is one the avenger filling the third spot as a backup dancer, you can see the original trio performing this live at Tokyo Dome 2016. The Eastern Kami Band is playing in this live version but the footage also shows the West Kami Band in another live show. Babymetal kind of had an idea where they could recruit if they needed to from Sakura Gakuin, which is the school where Babymetal was formed. Personally I quite like Shanti, Shanti, but I'll forgive you :P I would agree with you though that Babymetal does a good job with pretty much everything they put their name on. I think it's because of how much passion and love they put into each and every song they create. You can see and FEEL the love they have for what they do and as such it makes it hard to do a bad job since they are putting their heart and soul into their creations. I think pretty much everybody on the Babymetal team love what they do and are passionate about it. They have an amazing team behind them!
If you pay attention, you'll be able to see Xes made of tape on the stage to help the girls with positioning. There have been a few mistakes and injuries in the past (particularly the 2014 Budokan shows), but those typically get cut out of the official videos that get released. Given the thousands of performances they've put on in the past 14 years, they really are almost flawless when it comes to executing the routines.
This song was released in 2016, it is on Babymetal's 2nd album Metal Resistance... my absolute favorite album, you must check out all the songs on this album🤘🔥😃

There is knowing all the choreography but then there is being able to do it while never breaking their facial expressions. I mean there is never a moment where their facial expression isn't intended. You won't see them grimace or there facial expression won't go blank. They never let go of the kawaii no matter how aggressive the dancing.
This. Everything, including facial expressions and hand movements is choregraphed. Now they do occasionally break character, especially in the smaller shows. But for the big Japan shows where they are being filmed for a DVD they are more controlled.
The japanese metal always had 5-7 key in 1 loop of a riff. Meanwhile most american only had 3 key on 1 riff. Thats why so many change like you say. That said by marty friedman. And yes the dybamic between the loop is different too
Su, Moa and Yui are the original members Yui had to retire because of health reasons since then Momo is the newest member of Babymetal. Also Babymetal has the ability to warp time!!!! I went to the Babyklok Concert in Dallas 2023 although Dethklok was very good with their performance it lasted a good hour then Babymetal came on and played for what seemed like 10 minutes but my watch said it was an hour 😃 it was over so fast! It also happened before in Dallas in 2019 they warped time again played for what seemed to be 10 minutes but my watch said it was an hour show yep they can warp time. Also there cannot be any other bands like this because there is only 1 Queen
👍 👍 Only about 55 and counting more amazing LIVE song/performances to go and each one is different (as you are seeing)😉 BABYMETAL has some ofthe most intricate, complex and beautiful intro's to LIVE song/performances I've seen that not only give a breather to the ladies (and Kami's) but also set the mood, tone and buildup to the performance. Sometimes they are Kami Band solo instrumental intros, sometimes recorded backing and other times a combination of backtrack and Kami Band instrumentals.
Nice one! Also, to your comment on “metal”: they are not “metal” metal, they are Babymetal 😂. They always done their own thing, so that statement can be somewhat accurate. For their concerts: 1 HR - 1.5 HRs, 10-15 songs. They take small breaks during band solos, extended intros to certain songs, encore intermission, story videos, etc. some songs will blend into the next with no stoppage. And yeah, all songs have their own unique choreo. Do they make mistakes? Haha yes. Moa and Momo goofs off on stage multiple times, causing Momo to mess up her choreo. Su accidentally sang Moa’s part once and just played it off. Various equipment malfunctions, mic not working, Su/Moa both have slipped and fell on stage. Su isn't the only one who isn't interchangeable. Moa also has been there from the beginning to this day.
