Since Autism/Aspergers affects a persons social-skills severely, i have felt this way for a while now, some agree with me some don't, since it makes a person socially-awkward by nature, i feel it hurts men more than women because men are still expected to make the first move and be the initiators, expected to initiate when it comes to forming a romantic relationship, in other words, women will almost never go up to a guy and start a conversation with him first, or ask a man out on a date first, or plan, set up all of the dates, be the one to progress things towards a relationship. In other words, people say it's because men court women, it's been like that traditionally, thats why i have felt Autism is going to hurt men more than women when it comes to dating/relationships.
nobodysperfect06 I don't entirely disagree but I think each gender has it's struggles. The male may initiate but after that the social interaction that takes place and subsequent interactions are all going to be difficult to interpret.
Smallie Bigs well that's because I know one girl that has Aspergers and she has been prone to making social errors, yet it hasn't stopped her from getting a boyfriend she has had lots of boyfriends in her life, she was an early bloomer, had her first boyfriend at age 15, and she said most of the guys she has been with they were the ones who made the first move and initiated, meanwhile I've met a couple guys who also have Asperger's and they are around her age and they still haven't had a girlfriend yet
This is because Autism affects men and women differently. Girls are social imitators, they learn to copy what the other girls are doing and for that reason can often go under the radar and not be diagnosed. Boys learn in different ways, and aren't so inclined to copy what others are doing and learning about what is socially acceptable. This tends to be the reason for the gender difference struggles with Autistic people rather than the way that dating is normally done.
So, true. I was simply blown away by the level of unconditional love&support their Mums have towards Sam&Tania. I agree we all want our children to be happy& enjoy the very best that this life can offer, including the joy of having, raising kids.

It’s so important for people to realise that just because someone might be a bit different they still need and desire the same thing as all of us. Love, companionship, to feel accepted. Kudos to the mother’s for giving their children the chance to experience such things. It was cute how excited the mothers were.
True. Not easy for the moms, who are the one that have to bear all the hardship in bringing them up and yet still maintain so positively about their own children. Great moms!

I really really related to the mothers fear of men taking advantage of her daughters disability. I have two autistic sisters that are my whole world, and it is frightening just how vulnerable they are. I just hope that there will always be someone to love them and take care of them if anything were to happen to me.
Katty Okie I have autism myself and sometimes I worry about myself getting put in situations where I'm getting taken advantage of. I often consult my mum about romantic relationships and that helps me a lot. If you keep a good relationship with your sisters and advise them about these things, even if they seem obvious to you, they'll be fine ☺️
this made me so fucking happy. Im very high functioning but after finally being diagnosed even though id always been sure i had aspergers, i told my boyfriend of 5 years, which we planned on spending many more years together, and when i told him he decided we couldn't work. it's kept me from trying to date for so long because of that fear. but this..well this just filled my heart with hope.
Jami T A diagnosis changes nothing about you, just that it helps you understand your own condition. I'm really sorry your boyfriend broke up with you over this but there are guys who will love you for who you are, trust me 😊

I'm still smiling! Sam is amazing, going forward with a relationship when he's so nervous. The more he went out, the .ore confident he became. I hope they continue too be together, hopefully marrying. The mothers are fantastic - incredibly involved and supportive. Dedicated to enabling their children to have the fullest and happiest lives possible. Sam has encouraged me to walk through social fears, acknowledging them and still following through instead of isolating so much t home. Thanks to you, both! Best wishes!! 😀
As a parent of an 11 year old daughter with autism this not only melts my heart but gives me hope!!! I see that my daughter can go out on dates and find love no matter if she has a disability or not. This video makes me so hopeful for her future!!! Thank you for making it and I would love to see an update on these two
I am so very happy for you both! Everyone deserves to be loved! My eldest son is also autistic. He was a very large baby, a month overdue and had very little air during my delivery...it took what felt like hrs before he began to breath, his birth was scary! I noticed little things from the moment he was born. He didn't like loud noises, to be touched too much, and had a hard time keeping eye contact. I noticed that when someone smiled at him he would hide, believing they were going to bite him! ( when an animal bares its teeth it is a warning, you might get bitten!) I was told he would loose his language skills by 5 or 6, not to expect too much from him and that school, education, marriage and a job wouldn't be in his future. Max we to the queen Alexandre's school for autism and his life has never been the same! Max is now 27. He has a girlfriend who is university educated. She moved in with him two years ago and they are getting married! They travel all over north america and max is working, earning a living. He has surprised everyone and gone on to do great things! Don't let others put limitations on your kids! Thank you for sharing your date with us Sam!
This is all great! except the part assumed he hid because people smiled was related to an animal response ( most commonly with dogs when eating). That’s not a sure thing and a bit out of pocket. Child psychologist do not link hiding from smiles with animals thinking they’ll be bit with teeth showing.
@@MA-zg2pz actually my doctor - the specialist at the queen Alexandria hospital for children and the doctors at sick kids in Toronto said otherwise...and my son would say " the bad doggie bites " everytime he hid behind me when someone smiled at him. So yeah, he feared being bitten.
i could NOT stop smiling throughout this video. i love seeing them happy. i love seeing that they have supportive parents. i hope they continue to lead happy lives :)
Tania scrunching up her face trying to decide what to order on the menu. Totally adorable. They are what all people should be - honest, open and innocently humble.
I can't help but find it sad how her mother was talking about her as if she's not normal while she's sitting there. Just because you're different, does not mean you are not normal. The way we talk and the language we use is important. There's nothing abnormal about Autism.
I love these two! I wonder about the economic disparity that is evident. Socio- economic issues are rarely discussed in our world, yet they impact much more than might think at first glance. I hope these two lovely folks find happiness and make it work, and their moms continue to support them. Also , wonder where the dad's are? They are making the best of it with love
Update: Sam is doing well with his Olympics, Tania is now in a new relationship and i believe she has recently had a baby! Unsure what happened, i think Sam went to LA for a few months... They seem to be very happy though!
Sam, the excited gentleman. He will make a lucky girl happy! Good luck, Sam! A great vlog, people living their lives, and letting others see them! Fantastic!
He reminds me so much of my son, he is high functioning as well and this actually gave me a lot of hope for him. He is 14 now and all he talks about is finding a girlfriend. I am trying to find a group where he can meet other ASD teens to be social with.
I think it's so interesting how Tania's mother says she has the same brain age as a 10 year old, but she has tattoos and a tongue piercing. It shows physically Tania is an adult with body mods but her brain isn't an adult yet. I wonder how she coped through the healing processes. Anyway, I was happy for them but for all who are wondering, they're not together anymore. Tania has a different surname which suggest she married someone else. But they're still friends so that's good!
Lovely people. It is interesting Sam can drive yet has difficulties in making decisions and other fields of life, this is an interesting condition , their mothers are wonderful and supportive.
I love this for them. Sam is very handsome and so thoughtful and Tania is cute as a button and I love how she helps Sam come out of his shell more. I hope one day they do get married. 💜
Please don't think I'm being horrible by asking, but can someone explain to me how Sam can pass a driving test, showing full understanding of road laws, safety, road signs etc, yet cannot construct a basic sentence? Plus after swimming he didn't know what to do...then said congratulations to Tania, giving the impression he's not quite sure what's going on around him. In the short clip of him driving (17:19) he nearly got himself rear-ended.....this worries me somewhat.
Autism affects the ability to socialise, so he may not function very well in social situations, but may excel in other aspects, like memory, artistry, etc. He may be able to memorise road laws, safety and signs, but he'll never communicate "normally." Autism also comes with sensory issues, so busy, loud environments can be overwhelming and confusing for autistic people. When they were congratulating him, he most likely was just mimicking what others around him were saying, as like I mentioned above, autism impacts our ability to socialise effectively. A way in which we get by, is that, we mimic those around us to "fit in."
2 things: 1. tonia seems pretty cognizant and aware of what's going on usually but she seems super uncomfortable when people are watching her or there are cameras on her. She also doesn't say all that much herself but idk how much of that is her condition and how much of that is being self conscious while on camera... 2. sam should get a speech coach so he can practice his conversational skills. no it doesn't have to be quick or even normal pace but he has incredible difficulty just saying simple responses. it would do him some good to just get used to a rythm.
she seems like a very nice girl. what a cute couple! 💚 @22:44 that was nice that she came out to support him. i hope they both find what their looking for.best of luck!🍀From Michigan, USA
Tanya looks so pretty in Pink. Her Mother needs to let them have a date. I understand if she wants to wait outside. There are already cameras on them filming.
Chris, you haven't gone wrong anywhere...you're on your own path. Have you ever looked into social groups for adults on the spectrum? My son goes to Hussman Center here in balto...and he also goes to meet-up groups...both have been really great.
Sam couldn't stop smiling when Tania was opening her gift, it's so great to watch two people be happy together.

@@thrcuddlygamer i am gay, muslim, black and native American. I like his shoes
So cute to see Sam’s keep smiling while Tania open the present 🎁
Can't stop smiling. Thank you for a wonderful little documentary!
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed our channel and keep coming back! 😀
Few autistic people can achieve this with the right support system.
What an absolutely beautiful story , I'm in tears of joy .. my little boy is autistic .. things like this give you hope for them . What a gorgeous young couple and Beautiful whanau ..
I'm autistic and didn't know I was until age 34. I realized I was masking most of my life.
*We need an update on them!*
Sam & Tania Mums did an awesome job. What an inspirational documentary this was. Thank you for sharing.
I love both of their moms. I especially love the moment where Sam's mom is teaching him how to order for Tanya. This is great.
The way Tania's mum talks about her just breaks my heart
Gives her daughter no credit ...cuts her no slack !!!!
And she could use all this because she is so progressive !!!!!
Thank you for making it and I would love to see an update on these two
My god, beautiful, beautiful, inside and out. Much love to you guys and your amazing mothers.
Thanks for watching Deidre!Hope you enjoyed our channel!
I have Aspergers and there is no way you would ever get my into a theme park. Sam does so well!
the noise is too much ...I have aspergers and I can hardly bear supermarkets as too much contrasting noises and lights too bright
It’s great they choose to expose themselves to a challenging place sensory wise. I’m sure that was difficult for them
I love Sam’s mom! ❤️ i like how she talks with him and includes him.
( when an animal bares its teeth it is a warning, you might get bitten!)
I was told he would loose his language skills by 5 or 6, not to expect too much from him and that school, education, marriage and a job wouldn't be in his future.
So yeah, he feared being bitten.
he is such a beautiful energy! no words needed. And she gets him.. pure love
My son is autistic, and this gave me more hope than I can possibly express.
That was great.! My nephews son has autism and it great to see his development over the years.
Are y'all gonna update them.. they are so cute together
i could NOT stop smiling throughout this video. i love seeing them happy. i love seeing that they have supportive parents. i hope they continue to lead happy lives :)
The mother is not ignorant she knows what she's on about she's lived with her daughter for a long time..
in a few years am hoping this for my son.
Thanks for watching Minerva!😀
you commented this two years ago, any update on your son? hope everything is going excellent with him
Can this please be a tv show!!!! I'd love to follow their journey!!!
Netflix has a show called love on the spectrum. There are two seasons of it. It’s a good show.
When he’s looking at her before their dinner date it’s so cute. I love this episode 😍
They are making the best of it with love
what a sweet couple. I hope the best for these two. they seem really good together.
Thank you for watching Shaunalea 82! 😀
11:00 ☺️ the way he was happy because she was opening his gift.
Update: Sam is doing well with his Olympics, Tania is now in a new relationship and i believe she has recently had a baby! Unsure what happened, i think Sam went to LA for a few months... They seem to be very happy though!
Daniel N ooooh really they were so beautiful together if Tania is happy in her new relationship that’s wonderful God bless her
HER SIBLINGS WERE SO EXCITED FOR HER LITERALLY YELLING "SAMS HERE" CUTEEEEE
shame job Mama bear with her tablet at the restaurant 🍴 lol, fair enough 💜💜
Attitude please always update about them :)
awwww shes beautiful! i wish them the best!
Thanks for watching Kendra!
I hope to see my son be that happy and well-adjusted. I know it's a tough road ahead but stories like this make me hopeful.
Sam, the excited gentleman. He will make a lucky girl happy! Good luck, Sam! A great vlog, people living their lives, and letting others see them! Fantastic!
I hope my son gets to experience this
Laura Noyes he will
I hope mine does too❤
Laura Noyes me too I hope my son does also
I hope my lonely ass gets to experience this
He reminds me so much of my son, he is high functioning as well and this actually gave me a lot of hope for him.
But they're still friends so that's good!
i hope tania & sam love happy always & forever. the biggest hearts & love in your family & home
Thanks for watching Cody!Hope you enjoyed our channel!
He may be able to memorise road laws, safety and signs, but he'll never communicate "normally."
Autism also comes with sensory issues, so busy, loud environments can be overwhelming and confusing for autistic people. When they were congratulating him, he most likely was just mimicking what others around him were saying, as like I mentioned above, autism impacts our ability to socialise effectively. A way in which we get by, is that, we mimic those around us to "fit in."
Tania’s mum with the iPad at the window was too funny 😂 😂😂
2 things:
1. tonia seems pretty cognizant and aware of what's going on usually but she seems super uncomfortable when people are watching her or there are cameras on her.
He is fully in love cant stop looking at her you go my man
she seems like a very nice girl.
what a cute couple! 💚
@22:44 that was nice that she came out to support him. i hope they both find what their looking for.best of luck!🍀From Michigan, USA
Thanks for watching Gar!
Tanya looks so pretty in Pink. Her Mother needs to let them have a date. I understand if she wants to wait outside. There are already cameras on them filming.
I thought it was a bit much threw the restaurant window.
Tanya has a tongue ring
I would love to see an update, this is the sweetest thing : xoxo
Oh my goodness, when Tania opened her present ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Sam's reaction was absolute JOY ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Her mum talks like she isn't sitting right next to her. I'm sure the daughter doesn't appreciate her mum saying she's too naive to look after herself.
I grew up in a narc household so I get where your coming from!
I am much more high functioning than Sam yet he's light years ahead of me in socializing and relationships.... Where did I go wrong?? :(
Thanks for watching Chris S
Chris, you haven't gone wrong anywhere...you're on your own path. Have you ever looked into social groups for adults on the spectrum? My son goes to Hussman Center here in balto...and he also goes to meet-up groups...both have been really great.
It seems as if his mom pushes him to have social relationships. Do your parents do the same ?
@@perfectlyhonest4139they don't, but it may be due to never being diagnosed with ASD. I will look for groups though
Chris S That’s good.
Being proactive pays off
Lol he and his mom are funny how they interact.
Hope you enjoyed the episode ! Thanks for watching!
