I'm on that email list and the emails asking for donations were INCESSANT. Often multiple times a day. My favorite part of them was saying that your donation would be matched - up to 1,000 percent - but it never said by whom.
Their new tactic is asking you to do a task - fill out a survey, sign his birthday card, etc. - but you can't submit it without giving them money.

@@Orangemochafrappuccino I filled out a White House survey towards the beginning of 45's presidency and it got me onto the mailing list. I decided to stay on so I could stay informed of what is sent to his supporters. It's....a lot, but I just don't open the emails if I get overwhelmed.
Interesting variation on the old Hari Krishna "give a trinket, ask for donation, get a bigger one" psychological trick. This one exploits the "sunk cost" fallacy or the "gambler's" fallacy, that being the tendency to want to continue to do something, even though it's a bad idea, because you don't want to "waste" the effort you've already put into it. So gamblers chase their losses and lose more, people in abusive relationships keep going back without any significant change because "they have history" (lots of other factors at work in those situations, too), and 45 gets you to pay some bucks to submit that survey you just spent time filling out.
The trick is remembering that past bad decisions can't be undone by continuing to make the same bad decision. Whatever you put into a bad-faith situation is already gone, and you're never getting it back. Grieve, move on.

I responded to a Facebook ad for the RNC to complete a survey and ever since I got text messages from it. They were so pathetic, so numerous and so relentless that I didn't want to stop them. I watched with morbid fascination as my phone dinged up to 30 times a day. Begging for money, gaslighting and degrading the receiver. This is all now believable to me.
More of this should be brought to light.
I worked at a bank and when Trump lost then he started this donation crap. So many customers who donated kept getting charged every three days. They were scammed and thought it would be a one time donation. By the end of week they were scammed for about 200 dollars. They tried to cancel the reoccurring charges but they were so trusting of trump they gave their direct debt account information. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

That's a real bummer for the video team, regardless of what the real story may be. If the team really was unable to meet the deadlines, then they probably aren't going to have jobs after this. I've spent MANY all-nighters creating video content for conference and event deadlines, and I never once had a client postpone things because I couldn't get the job done. I mean, it's "the show must go on", not "the show must go on... unless you need more time, in which case we'll just postpone things." And if there's some other reason for postponing the hearing, it REALLY sucks that they just threw the video team under the bus.

The DOJ don't need a referral to indict. They can do it with or without.
Congress has no prosecuting powers but legislation powers.
Their investigations are about finding out what happened, inform the public and propose actions to prevent this from happening again. I could imagine things as giving the speaker of the house the power to call the national guard if the capitol is under attack.
If criminal misconduct is discovered they can refer to the judicial branch (DOJ) for criminal prosecution. DOJ decides if there is going to be a prosecution. They don't need a referral. Ofcourse the committee will share all the info with DOJ.
If the committee makes a referral it can (and will be) used by republicans to tell the voters that it is all a democratic hoax.
One way or another DOJ will make its own decision about prosecution and will be happy to use the data from the committee.

Does anyone remember a news story back in November or December 2020 about people who donated money to Trump stop the steel campaign and were furious because the donations App was designed to keep charging them the same amount of money every 24 hours.
