@@ComplicatedKnots Yes, dear CK. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you make it, we will watch. We promise to gently let you know if we don't prefer something.
I think the planning part is what makes your channel so special and valuable! It’s what teaches us how to make our own art come to life, instead of just executing an existing piece.
I'm so glad you did the coral reef! Pro tip from an illustrative artist, most paints need at least two layers to be opaque, smooth, and completely cover your canvas. (Especially cheaper paints, they often need multiple coats.) Using a little bit of water with acrylics can make them lay down smoother and easier too. I admire your patience and creativity throughout this process though :D These are coming out so gorgeous! Very inspiring, I love them x3
This turned out really pretty.😍 💕😊 I have made an entire Ocean blanket for my great niece & nephew - Crib size of the ocean. It has water, waves, sand, seahorses, seaweed, crabs, sea cucumbers, bat ray, starfish, clownfish, and sea turtle etc. Honestly the most time consuming part is sewing it all on to the blanket.😊
i love when you share the planning parts! I also love you showing your process. I learn about so many techniques I didnt know existed like spike stitch
omg using the method for making the first durable/usable model for hyperbolic space in order to represent a creature we've later realized exhibits hyperbolic geometry is genuinely VERY cool
im so so so happy youre doing more of these! not only is the outcome super beautiful and i could stare at it forever but i also loooove seeing the process you go through for it so my excitement for the remaining two seasons is through the roof!
many years ago i saw a massive installation of under sea flora and fauna ... it was before the internet i think .. it was on pbs and it was a colab with a huge number of contributors,,, this reminded me of that instantly.... love your interpretation
Definitely want to see the remaining two seasons. Also I love watching the entire process of how you make your pieces. Talking and all. I learned so much from artists better then me just by watching how they craft.
Don't forget to write the month and year on the back of those canvases! maybe even with the season theme! These are gorgeous - I can't wait to see the other ones!
I love the planning parts! Keep showing them, they're the best parts of the video because it helps me break down my larger projects too. I also love this series so much, i cannot wait to see my two favorite seasons fall & spring!!
I'm a huge fan of processes, me personally i love to see someone's path and the building blocks to get there. i often even enjoy that more then the final project! so if you're able to share the processes keep them coming.
You asked in your livestream what patterns we want to see. I really want to see an armadillo pattern that actually curls into a Ball 😂 great video and artwork!
There's one somewhere on ravelry! 😅 I can't remember the name, but I'm sure if you search Armadillo in thebsearch bar, it'll pop up. Would love to see @ComplicatedKnots take on it, though.
Tbh I loved the whole process with the succulent one and this one is just as fun! I love to see how you approach the whole thing and would love to see the other versions of it.
This video could not have come at a better time!! I’m working on a huge ocean cave installation for my final year of art school, crocheting lots of deep-sea creatures and ocean flora and fauna, and this has given me so much inspiration!! Love your work🥰🥰
I absolutely love this video! The planning part was really interesting, seeing how you tackled the pieces was cool and the end result is amazing! I would definitely love to see the last two pieces for the series!
I borrowed a book from the library last month. It's called the "Mad Hatter" book. There is a basic pattern for a ski mask type hat and then lots of patterns for little bits and bobs like mushrooms, flowers, fish, and so forth. I started one hat and decided I wanted it to be a salad hat. I have all my bits made except the lettuce because I can't seem to find the right shades of green... but I also made a coral reef hat. There was maybe 4 patterns out of the book that I used, and then everything else I freehand and I feel so very proud of that hat! I love everything related to the sea! I also live free form crochet but never had any way to "make use" of it before (I'm not that creative to think "this would make a cool hat!") I did try to make a canvas before and I was not ultimately happy with it. I really love your design process and your creation! My mind can only work out little creative things once it's been sparked by someone else's creativity 😅
i really enjoy how you go through the planning process. the planning i always find is the toughest part and prevents me from actually getting started on projects.
You actually helped my trypophobia a little bit. I always tell people that mine is triggered by corals! But your crochet hole guys are so cute! And not scary at all 😊❤❤
This was the last video i watched with my dog before he got put down last week. So in honor of him, I would love if the starfish could be named Scout. It even matches the color of his collar. The best boy ever, I miss you so much Scout
I absolutely love this piece ! I am à diver and I can tell you you perfectly captured the coral reef aesthetic ! The colors are perfect (you can never put to many colors or details in a coral reef !) Thank you for your videos and for inspiring us always !!
That turned out fantastic! I think with all those bright colors black background would have worked just fine too! Makes me want to make a more neon reef with a black background but I don't do this stuff XD I make stuffed toys XD I really enjoyed watching you make this!
Oh my gosh, I love these art pieces so much! Can’t wait to see the next two! I love to see how you planned everything out, as well. Thanks for sharing these with us!
You are very creative. It's fun to watch you. I am going to try your canvas projects!!!! I love watching all your videos. Keep imagining ideas.....so much fun!!!
You can add a second layer of paint to a dried canvas if you want a more opaque look next time but I love the way it all turned out the way you did it. Has a more of a sea feel. Also, that starfish is flipping amazing! 😆
I very much enjoy your videos. Your creativity and obvious pleasure has inspired me to try new things and it has helped me to succeed. I never had the confidence to try to make a pattern and you showed me how to do it. Thank you and I look forward to your next video.
Incredible work as always and I can't wait to see the continuation of this serie ! Very inspiring ! Just thought I add something, at 17:13, for the stitch you are using where you twist the yarn before single crochet, I've seen it being called both the twist(ed) single crochet and the crab stitch ! Don't know if crabs really like coral reef, but it stays in the marine theme at least !
I just want to let you know that I would love to see the final two canvases and even more if you're up to it. I also love to see the planning stages so I could learn how to do this myself. These canvas projects look so cool they make me want to try and tackle one, thanks for being so inspiring!
This is so nice i love how everything invites to be touched, the textures and shapes all together. I did love the idea of a cube shaped diorama as well though, definitely an idea for a later video 🤔. The twisted single crochet is also known as the faux crab stitch, very fitting seeing as this is a coral reef 🦀💓🦀💓🦀
I love these and am very glad you did the coral reef (though happy you're doing all of them in the end!) It turned out amazing! Can't wait for the other two!
Love these and I really like the thought process you put into your videos. For me, as a crocheter working on learning how to design my own patterns and finding my own style, seeing projects start to finish is helpful. (side note: I love the music.)
Eeep! Love the colors you used! I love the little starfish! Maybe for the next ones the flower can have a monarch butterfly or caterpillar, and the mushroom could have a frog! I'm absolutely loving this series! :)
I think the barnacle chunk would look cool as a headband! 👀 I haven't watched the whole video yet but I'm so in love with this entire project, I might try to make sth similar if I have time 🤩💖 I studied marine biology so I'm extra invested in this particular one 🥰
It looks so bright and colorful! I'm glad you ended up going with such a vibrant color scheme; when I think of coral reefs I think of the tropical colors first, and I think it turned out really well. These compositional pieces on a canvas are really cool because they're a whole scene rather than just a single creature, and I'm looking forward to the mushroom and flowers when you get around to those. (Also I left a comment on the succulents video suggesting a coral reef so I will pretend that this was all my suggestion, even though I'd imagine others suggested it too and/or you got the idea from elsewhere.)
These pieces are so beautiful, I'm excited to see the full series!! You are very skilled and creative, it's obvious that you've devoted a lot of time to your art!! :D
I love this so much! I've been wanting to make some crochet artwork for a while and watching your videos have given me the inspiration. Not the wrist strength quite yet though lol Also all I could see from the little sand bit under the starfish was a sand dollar.
This is great! I am amazed by everything underwater so this definitely is a favorite piece... Love how you always manage to incorporate so many different textures! Btw, I have trypophobia and mine wasn't triggered by this piece at all, of course everyone is different and someone else might feel about this piece how I feel about foam, sponges and beehives (🤢) though I do really hope that no one actually does because as I said this is beautiful! 🫶🏻
I really enjoyed that! :) I think it's my favorite series, and yes, I love your patterns, but I usually skip thru some processes. This I always watch from beginning to end
"We've got brains and balls and most of a starfish" is my new motto
Gonna make that my senior quote
I loooove the planning parts! They're so often my favorite part of any crochet vid, and I love how you talk through your process.
Oh yay! Thanks for watching :)

Exactly! I love watching the though process and seeing how I might do it differently if I do my own version
The “ha” though 😂
I’m really glad you didn’t go monochrome. Coral deserves to be colorful! And you deserve to play with pretty colors.

As a fellow artist, i enjoy watching others' creative process and thought process. Helps me understand my own.
i find these great background noise if i am not in the mood for long focus music XD

I love the planning bits! It makes me go "Oh, that's how you start this kind of project? Maybe I can do that too." ❤
im so so so happy youre doing more of these! not only is the outcome super beautiful and i could stare at it forever but i also loooove seeing the process you go through for it so my excitement for the remaining two seasons is through the roof!

16:36 🤣 Squirtles sunglass on the hardest working tortoise in the universe cracked me up
It's like 3D painting, so cool!
I love this a reasonable amount!!! And the only reasonable amount is HUGELY. _Yes please_ show us the making of the last two as well!
Don't forget to write the month and year on the back of those canvases! maybe even with the season theme!

Oooh good idea! I'll do that!

Curling Armadillo! Got it! :)
There's one somewhere on ravelry! 😅 I can't remember the name, but I'm sure if you search Armadillo in thebsearch bar, it'll pop up. Would love to see @ComplicatedKnots take on it, though.
The planning part is the best! Seeing how you lay it out gives me the most ideas! Also it’s a UA-cam video, if someone gets bored they can skip ahead.
I love this series! The planning is what makes your videos so much more unique!
Excited to see how this goes! I didn’t even realize today was Thursday XD
Same! Lol ❤
...It's definitely Thursday though, right?
@@ComplicatedKnots it’s Thursday morning in the Americas ^_^ the video posted at 9am CST, to be exact (middle timezone of the USA)
The concept design process is the best bit. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm here for all of it, but the concept design bit is magnificent.
Tbh I loved the whole process with the succulent one and this one is just as fun! I love to see how you approach the whole thing and would love to see the other versions of it.
The spinning of the hook on the disks made it look like a super fancy animation in a video game for crocheting xD
