Old video but its a revelant one if ya need to do the job and get to wrk tommorow....
I was asked by a young fella why I loosened bolts manually instead of all the air and cordless i have...... i answered.
'ya wanna feel out the last robot tightened the bolts/nuts...and if all else fails...... there is a torch over there"

My water pump came with metal gaskets, do I need sealer?

    • @FixItPhillip

Depending on how flat of a surface the engine side gets when it's cleaned/scraped off. The metal gasket should have integrated rubber gaskets where the coolant ports are. Me personally I would lightly coat the engine side and the the waterpump side coolant ports with sealer. Then bolt the water pump with gasket on

Just did my 4.8l. I'm a little low on coolant until I grab some more. If the level is ridiculously low will the overflow boil after 10 min of idle run time. I just finished everything you did in the video.

Make sure to fill it with coolant, turn the heater on and make sure it gets hot, thermostat opens ect.. then check the fluid again. Check your cap too and make sure the oring/seal is good

I’ve just replaced the water pump and put everything back! And now I’m in the stage of truck having no coolant and having to refill. Before I put coolant in should I flush it? And when I do, I just put coolant in to cold fill line and let the truck run with heater and squeeze radiator hose and fill until air and system is full?

Hey man, I’m replacing my water pump now. 05 2500 hd. I don’t have a air compressor or chisel. Only wrenchs. Can’t get the thing to break with out Turning it the other way. Any ideas how to get it to stop moving? Sorry it’s first time doing auto work. Thank you. And great video! Liked and subed

If you leave the belt on and try using a pry bar one the edge and hit the pry bar with a hammer (basically a manual air chisel lol) that should work to break it free. I've dove it before. Might take a few good hits to do it. Good luck with it

If there’s a water leak, would my truck make a weird sound when I just started up ? Every time I turn it on 5-10 seconds later I hear a noise and I feel like it’s because of the water leak. I really don’t know.

Its possible for a water pump to make noise when failing, try wiggling the fan clutch and see if the water pump pulley is sloppy

Great Video. Well filmed and great explanation. I have a 2004 2500HD and need to replace pump. Truck has 200k miles and I'm a bit concerned about the 10 mm bolts being rusted/seized. Is this typically an issue and if so any tips?
