- Finally! Lets put answer this question, once and for all.
The MOST important video you need to see if you're a Dentist or a Dental Student and want to pursue FCPS or MDS in Pakistan. Up until recently, FCPS was considered the "Gold Standard" but everyone who pursues it is frustated with it even before they start it, if they are able to get a residency that is. Is it really still the Gold Standard if you want to practice in Pakistan?
This should provide graduates and the soon to be graduates a lot of clarity in life, thereby also reducing the prevalent frustration/depression.

10:07: Exactly, this is one of the reasons, why people consider preparing for NEET-PG entrance.
In India, though we have nothing like FCPS .
But, still a lot of graduates aren't left with any choice other than doing MDS ; which ofcourse means preparing for entrance exams like NEET-PG and INICET.
Getting a good government college means a high stipend and affordability of the academic tuition fees along with other expenses.
Some students start preparing as early as 2nd or 3rd year of U.G to get a good rank in order to get a good college and branch of one's own choice in P.G entrance counseling as there are limited number of seats in top government colleges that offer specialisation courses.
Admission in private colleges for MDS means heavy expenditure.
Still, a lot of people in India are of the opinion that doing MDS is an absolute necessity, especially during the recent times.
However, the exact reason behind this is not known to me.
Nonetheless, I can only be hopeful and put best of my efforts.
And the best thing that I've learnt in my life is to let go and stop worrying about the things that I cannot change or control.

Very good points doctor, however the main reason I know that people choose FCPS over MDS is just because of stipend. Not a few but many of my colleagues did their BDS by taking loans or atleast selling some things to afford the fee and the stipend they got in Housejob was used to return the loans or getting the things back they sold before.
While giving attempt for part 1 they only had to say this one thing 'Yaar itne paise to hain nahi k clinic khol saken apni, fcps karke kam az kam 4 saal me itna jama kar lenge k apni clinic khol saken or post grad ko b afford kar saken'
Still just bcoz of very less slots of residency, two of them started MDS and left it within two months due to the daily expenses.
MOST clinical MDS supervisors are themselves FCPS and FCPS is degree or postgraduate diploma whatever you call it is a degree with long term success in Pakistan. Yes MDS is equivalent. The problem isn't FCPS vs MDS because the country is getting saturated with the opportunities and seriously the quality of treatment provided here seems even BDS is overqualified.
Only solution for Juniors is that if they want to stay in Pakistan then open your clinic from very beginning. Postgraduation unfortunately for Pakistan either FCPS or MDS should be secondary priority.

For a person who's more clinical oriented I've heard fcps goes a long way eg for OMFS. You develop better clinical skills as compared to doing MDS.

FCPS is not diploma but it is fellowship. Diploma is 1-2 yr program, but fcps is 4-5 years training program. And became fellowship holder of college after passing.
Then you have a English problem, what is "fellowship" in essence, obviously its either diploma, certificate, or diploma; It definitely can't be something else such as "fellowship", what does fellow means it means a colleague, mate, or a friend. Surely, in terms of Clinical perspective, it means extended house job.

Aren’t the professors teaching both fcps and MDS the same in some universities? (Not sure if all?)
The whole video is a diplomatic way of saying choose MDS over FCPS if you want a full level 3 degree and don’t have funds to do a 4 year MSc from abroad.
For sure, MDS by design is better than FCPS in terms of khuwari. In terms of actual skill, they might still be the same as the teachers are the same.
Which is exactly my point, if the eventual outcome is the same, why not go for the less khuwari, more predictable way to get there ? :)

FCPS is paid so you don't need scholarship. You first need to get your dental degree recognised by Pakistan Medical Commission.

FCPS is not a diploma.

It's a fellow ship from the standard national CPSP.
Diploma us a university level degree.
MD is also a university level degree.
FCPs and diploma and masters CNA never be of same level.
For MD it is...... Apna ground apna refree apnay players.
No standard of diploma and masters infront of FCPs.
