All the information you need is in the bottom corners. Dont neglect what the game tells you. Glad to see there are still new people playing the game and finding their own way to success!

    Some little tips for food
Hunting is a very good way to obtain food during winter or in general, in the bottom middle in the category wildlife you can see the list of wild animals and know which ones attack back if you attack them
Plants cannot grow without the necessary light The light from the torches is not powerful enough; you need either sunlight or the light of a "sun lamp"
Putting a roof over your plants stops them from growing due to lack of sunlight
You can check if a plant is growing by clicking on it and reading the information (It's okay if the plants don't grow overnight, it's not normal if they don't grow during the day.)
There are several small icons at the bottom right they allow you to activate different overlays and functionality (For example the hammer activates automatic reconstruction)
One of these symbols is a house It allows you to activate the overlay to see roofs
The symbol just to the right of that one is the symbol of a plant it allows you to see the fertility of the soil
Plants grow faster when fertility is greater
Some plants even need a certain fertility to grow and some plants are more or less influenced by fertility
For example, potatoes are less influenced by fertility (This means that they will have a smaller penalty on non-fertile land and a smaller bonus on fertile land.)
It is not necessary to designate plants in fields to be cut, it will be done automatically
It is possible to designate them in advance if you need food now but you will get less

Important learning advice for this game.
When it comes to cooking, I highly recommend using the "Do until you have X" bill on your stove.
This will ensure that if your prepared food reaches below a certain level, and you have raw food stored, your assigned chef will go ahead and cook.
Also getting yourself a generator (under power) and a proper walk in freezer (A room with an AC Unit attached to it, lowered to freezing temp) for proper food storage.
Frozen food will never expire. Its a great way to stockpile food for the winter without ever having to worry about it spoiling.
Game is complicated, its a lot to learn. Theres gonna be struggles, keep at it.

hallo little tip, you meed a stockpile/dumping stockpile stone that allows chunks for your pawns to start hauling the rocks. Helps a lot to build a little shack with a stonecutter and a chunk stockpile zone to buold stone bricks

One thing I'm surprised I've never trued yet is nutrient paste. It's supposed to be more efficient because it eliminates the need for a cook but there are probably downsides like the food giving a negative debuff because it's probably gross but if your pawn has a certain ideology then they might like it

im pretty sure my very first winter back when I first bought the game resulted in death due to no food. I hugely underestimated the amount to stockpile. Tips going forward try and spend time in summer growing multiple different crops. Try a medium patch of rice in rich soil, small corn patch in rick soil, and a medium patch of potatoes in normal or poor soil. Scale it up a few tiles each crop for every new new colonist you obtain. If you have the time to spare slap a few healroots down in rich soil. Like 10 or so.

If you get too many prisoners and can't feed them all, you can always turn some of them into food
    It is an option.

Rimworld is such an awesome game, I sank way to many hours into it but I cant help myself from coming back :) Especialy with the Biotech DLC, where you can make not only your own religion/cult but also your own, brand new species ^^ And kids. Lets not forget about the kids.
So about winter... as I said, I already sank a lot of hours into the game but I still get super nervous when winter comes. Do I have enough food stored??? One of the many stories that game told for me was when I was running out of food, in winter, and got attacked by some bandits. I killed them, and just left the bodies out. In the freezing cold. Not paying them much more attention... until I started noticing my empty freezers. There were no berry bushes, no wild animals to hunt, no tame animals to slaughter... I keept scanning the map up and down, left to right... nothing. Just those frozen corpses. Well, I guess you can guess where this is leading too XD
So I managed to keep them all alive (in fact, I had one cannibal in my crew who was kinda happy about the whole thing), but in my history book, it went down as "the winter we not gonna talk about!".
But I wont leave without dropping some random tipps I picked up in my time:
    - I love to put 3 small storage areas/shelfs near my cooking area. 1 for veggies, 1 for meats and 1 for meals. Priority set to important/critical, so they are always stocked first. That way, my chef has very short ways to get what they need and put the meals away, resulting in more time cooking and less time fetching.
    - if you have no one who is good at cooking, consider a nutrient paste dispenser. Folks wont like it very much (unless they are transhumanists), but that is a lesser evil compared to getting every body food poisoning.
    - if an attacker has good gear (clothing) you want to use, try to down them without killing them. Then strip them before they die so the gear does not get the tainted status.
    - if you are low on food and there are wild animals around, what I like to do is: Wait until the animal sleeps, gather all your colonists with firearms, put them right beside the sleeping animal and have them attack it. Even if they suck at shooting, the close range often helps a lot and even if the animal manages to get away for the moment, they often are hurt so bad that they bleed out. Just keep an eye out for them because if they die, the game sets them to "forbid" by default so your folks wont pick it up
I could ramble on for hours but I will leave it here for the moment, thank you so much for your entertaining videos :) Enjoy

I love the storage/shelf tip! Thank you so much!

    • @sonjag.3563

@@missfunerella I am glad that you like that :) I often end up having tons of different storages all over the base, all designated for specific resources. Something I always do, right from the start:
A stockpile area outside the main base for everything that does not degreade when unroofed/outoors. Like silver, steele, plaststeele, gold, stoneblocks...
By doing so, I greately reduce the amount of stuff lying around inside where my folks trip over it. Later, when you have workbenches, you can set up shelfs where the needed mats can be put into. But in the beginning, not needed imho.
Oh, another thing: I like to make a big "hut" (just walls, a door and a roof) near my fields. Most veggies just need to be indoors to last for many days, so there is no need to make huge freezers in the beginning. Those are better used to store meat and stuff that rots quickly.
Another tip to safe space (and earn good cash) in your food storage: When able, make packaged survival meals. They never go bad if stored normaly, make good rations for caravans and can be sold for a nice price. And are a far better way to store your ingredients than by having them just frozen up all over the place

butcher humans is my best tip i can give to u although u will get -7 in the colonist mood but crafting some clothes with human leather and selling them (dont let ur colonist wear those unless they are psychopath's cuz they ill get a mood debuff) also use the human meat and make some lavish or fine meat lunch and sell them for great profits :DD since human leather is for some reason more profitable than other leathers exept the thrumbos fur. You will need alot of cash but if u wanna make money without the mood debuff yayo is more profitable just farm and become the cook :)) just farm psycoid also u can use a column to put the roof on that 1 area of ur base fr fr also the information in the bottom corners are really important like the chess table needing chairs to let ur pawns use em cuz aint no way id be playing chess with no chair fr fr
ps:dont let ur colonist eat human meat unless its lavish cuz fine only give +5 and the human meat debuff is -6

    • @missfunerella
      @missfunerella  3 місяці тому

Yeah, I was too scared to kill humans because I didn’t want to traumatise my colonists, but the leather being so profitable…is interesting. And yeah, unfortunately I can’t make chairs. For some reason my colonists skill level enables them to make beds, tables, chess tables, shelves but NO chair. So I have to wait till they gain a skill level. And yeah, someone already gave the tip of the roof, which I fixed but you wont see that until the next video. These were all recorded before I posted my first video, so some tips from you guys I won’t be able to use until the next video. Thank you for watching and for the tips!
