You didn't explain WHYYYY scuffing the ball makes it smoother. You just said what it does. I'll explain it for ya. By Scuffing the ball it has more grip there for making it grab the lane early (depending on the grit) and using some of the energy that the ball creates sooner resulting in less back end hook. Because there's less stored up energy for later down lane changing the angle it goes into the pocket, hence making it hook more on an arc than angler down lane. How much is based on the grit. Shiny skids through the heads and stores energy for the back end ( depends on how shiny or even what grit you were at when shined up. Basically. You're Welcome.

It’s always ok to drill a ball pin down. It depends on what you’re looking for to drill a ball pin down.
I don't like how this ball reads either. I hit it with 3k and i don't know...

I bought this ball and had it for league on day one…..now I am a 2 hander with lots of revs….this ball with the shine from deep is friggin amazing…..had everyone around me since I was the first one with it and they loved the reaction…..if you are going to play deep with it leave the skid flip but if you are an up ten’r put 2000 on it
Hey I’m glad to hear that it works for you. For me it had to much over under with the shine on it. My rev rate is between 410-440 with 15mph speed so other balls give me the reaction I’m looking for. Like the DNA Coil for an example, but if I’m moving left in league I have 3-4 pearls I can go too. If I’m going to be way left like feet on 32-37 I actually ball up to a big engine asymmetrical.
@@badbadbowling101 yeah it depends on speed, revs, and the house you are playing on. It is all bowler dependent though but I only bowl hammer products mostly Widow balls…..this ball is the most versatile ball hammer has made in my opinion…..can play deep and inside but depends on the ability of the bowler to adjust speed and hand position…..I can respect your opinion though the effect is not for everyone but for a bowler like me it is friggin a monster
@andrewmoats3519 I agree not every ball is for everyone. I have a love for hammer products the widow 3.0 is in my sports shot bag along with the hammer extreme envy. However will throw any brand if I like the ball itself. I also have the new hammer black pearl, but I’m not sure how I feel about it just yet.

Nope im not knocking no shine off, this will be my transition ball from the BW 3.0 when I need to stay left.
I knocked the shine off because I don’t need it. If I’m going to use the ball I’m going to use it game 1. So I like it to be a little cleaner start a hair earlier for what I’m shooting on. I tend to do that with my pearls on a house shot. I did the same to the DNA Coil last week in league. I took the shine off to 3500 grit and had the front 9 game one and Front 10 game 2. What it comes down to is what you’re looking for there is no right or wrong.
@badbadbowling101 true, my center, mostly everyone (5 person team) bowls on the right of 20 and the oil is already flat and about 40ft instead of the normal 43ft or 44ft. So what I had to do was just move left so I have some type of oil with my BW 3.0. Now with this I will be able to stay in the same zone or move even further left with the Effect.

@@badbadbowling101 Not your own personal ball, just which ball is your fav to use. Say it's a Widow 3.0 for example, then that's the giveaway.

From seeing you throw I would say it might help you to go 4 3/4 on your layout instead of 3 1/2.
Thanks for suggesting that, but I elected the 3 1/2 for a reason. Bowling on a house shot just being honest with you means zero to me at this point. I only bowl on a sports shot with friends in league. Knowing the balls reaction down lane at the breakpoint is huge for me. So on certain balls 3 1/2 is perfect, and with other balls 5 it’s good. Just all depends on what I want that particular ball to do. Everything for me is about building my sport chat bag for nationals, PBA regionals.

Do you notice way more shape with the 3.5” pin versus 4.5”?
Why knock the compound off before you got all the way left? The hammer effect might have been better with the compound on it from that far left. Do you agree? It might have cornered much better with the compound.
That’s a very valid point! However I was just showing you guys the viewers what the ball can do. If I was bowling league or in a tournament, I wouldn’t want compound on the ball at all. I also wouldn’t be that far left, as you could see from 23-26 with my feet the ball was wonderful. So by the time I would have been that far left the lane would have broken down, and that ball would have been great from there also. However the lane wasn’t broken down, and that’s what made it challenging.

When a ball like the Effect is finished to 1500 then compound is applied what or how much does the surface change. Is it still actually 1500 or does the compound smooth out the 1500 surface like fill in the rough areas on the ball.
That’s a great question and to answer that question it does two things. Compound first clogs to pores of the bowling ball, and second it Can increase the surface from anywhere 1000-1500 from where it was off the spinner. If you would add polish that could increase the surface from 3000-4000 grit.

I well come the challenge! I’m not sure it’s a game 2 or 3 ball though. I’m pretty sure I can shoot really big games with that ball game one especially in league.

@@joethomas5922 I actually don’t like it all that much to be honest. However I found a place with it feet on 21-26 playing 13-7 and 15-16 to 7 where it was automatic with the ball surface at 2000 on the fresh. Fact is on the fresh I have a ton of options on a house shot. It’s the sports shot to me that balls separate themselves. I plan on going to regional evens later in the year so that’s my focus. I tried the Effect on a sports pattern it didn’t read to my liking.
