Yes, be loud and proud and expect to always win (even when you don’t always) just as we Millwall fans do, but your supporters (like a number of supporters from relegated Prem teams - Burnley, Norwich and the like) take it to the next level. You honestly believe that you’re too good for the Championship, and shouldn’t be mixing with the likes of Millwall and others, but really, what has your club achieved over the last couple of decades (since your heyday of the 1970s)? Yes, you’ve won promotion to the Prem a few times but for a club with the money and the support that you have, you really should be doing so much better. Now, I’m not saying that to be nasty or as a put down, but it is a fact, and maybe some Leeds fans will agree with me (though I know most won’t)! I would say Millwall supporters are much more realistic in their footballing expectations than Leeds are, precisely because you’ve sampled the big time and naturally you want more of it. We, on the other hand, have never had any decent money to buy the top players that Leeds have had over the years. Our only claim to fame is an FA Cup final loss 20 years ago, and before that, two seasons in the old first division. The most we’ve ever spent on a player was this season (€3M on the Serb striker IvanovIc) but because we don’t have the money we don’t have the expectations that Leeds and other clubs have. Even if by some miracle we got promotion to the Prem, we know we’d only last one season, but the money for getting there and the parachute payments afterwards would put our club in a much more solid financial footing. I’m hoping that the game tomorrow night will be a great advertisement for Championship football. All Millwall fans ask, whether we win, lose or draw, is that our players give 100% commitment to the cause.
