Just a note. I had the worst New York strip dinner at 7th and Delores. Not only that but the roasted brussels sprouts where roasted yet not cooked. It was so busy no waiter paid attention to me or ask how my food was. I had to start eating the steak or let it get cold. Finally, after cutting away a large amount of gristle some one, who turned out to be the manager asked me how my meal was. The meal was so bad the manager gave me a large discount. I will not go back to 7th and Delores to pay 65$ for a bad steak again.

My wife and I are going to be visiting the Monterey Bay area this May on vacation from Oklahoma. I grew up just south of you in San Luis Obispo county, and I appreciate your local recommendations! I know when people visit SLO, Pismo, etc., I try and steer them off the 'tourist trap' path. Looking forward to some of these establishments.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! Did you try SUR at the Barnyard? It is one of the fine-dining restaurants in CA. Their popular dish is fried chicken and waffles.
