All the aluminum rims I've worked on were heavily oxidized and needed 100 grit to start. But this video is spot on. Excellent tutorial

Good vid - quick question though. I’ve seen some vids that go to a 1000, 1500, 2000, and maybe even 3000 grit before buffing. What is the reason for doing that? Based on your vid, it doesn’t seem to be able to get any shinier, so why would some run all the way through the grits? Thanks again

There are several ways to polish Aluminum wheels (rims). Each one has it's positive and negative sides, however, at the end they are all somewhat equally shiny. What I am waiting for, for the last 30 plus years, is a method to keep them look nice for longer than just a few weeks. It seems to me that this is not possible. Not even Alcoa has managed the problem.
