I think he's nervous because he's stepped outside of his comfort zone. I think he's real brave.
Just a thought here dude......with the next one, try lengthening the VW body and put a flat spot in the top for the seat.
I know it’s more work, but not in your capable hands, then a regular minibike could fit it.
If you made it so it fitted a regular minibike, people would pay good money for them. Drop the rear section down to a small point and you’ll keep that Beetle look. Perhaps even narrow the fenders in the middle a little and put Beetle side steps on it for your feet. 🇬🇧👁
I like the idea of the beetle side steps for the feet, that should look really nice.
I'm building one ! First test ride yesterday... next paint.... hope to have a U tube post in a few weeks. And, yes... the project is a pain eight inches below the 4th belt loop. :)

Lots achieved this episode. I am locked in and hoping to get some of my old photos sorted out. I don't think I have any old car ones let. I had a 1964 VW beetle and changed the engine to a 2.2 turbo it pulled wheelies that was in the UK early 80s.

Another thought is that once you get the fender completed (and seeing that you already add to it and alter it so much) maybe you should measure and map the finished design so you might be able to fabricate a full one in the future yourself from scratch rather than needing to find the pieces of a diminishing item. Might end up being a cheaper solution?
Without the whole fenders gimmick a bike like this would make a great portable vehicle for the city. With a frame that small and some folding pieces you could easily get it to the size of an bag.

You should really consider adding a working headlight and taillight/brake light this time. I’m sure a lot of people would love to see how to do that!

Ok not to kick you but probably check out how to fine tune your oxyacetylene torch look a little light on the oxygen! but your doing a great job! Check into oxygen~propane this is what I use been a welder for over thirty years now. It is the poor man's Gas no getting around the oxygen but propane for a gas is great and cheap. I personally think it cuts better than acetylene but some might argue with me... Regardless dialing this in will make your life easier!

If you make 2 with the beetle Fender body I think you should create a template, jig, because I guarantee you you will make a 3rd, 4th, and the all out grand finale 5th.😁🙃
I think you're doing a hell of a good job with this and the first one. They look so cool I may have to try it in the future. I do have two questions.
1. Could you add a wheelie bar to help from tipping?
2. If you also used the rear fenders could it be made longer to keep from cutting the frame shorter?

To answer your questions...
1. Yes, I’m working on a design for a wheelie bar to put on my blue one. But I might have to do some modifications to the fender to make it fit.
2. Yes I believe you can gain a bit more room if you used the rear beetle fenders to make the body. But I believe you will still have to modify the frame in some way.
I can't remember if I've suggested this before, but do you watch a guy named "Urchfab?" He does a LOT of fabrication work and is building a custom cycle frame from flat steel right now. He may be worth checking out.

I'm locked down here. My plans are to not get the covid-19 and live to ring in year 2021. On a different topic if you could figure out a way to do pretty much the same project with either the 1998 to 2011 new Beetle fenders I'm betting you can get those cheap. You might even be able to do something similar with PT Cruiser fenders and they are probably cheap too. Stay safe.
How cool would it be to cut the front fender about six or eight inches up from the bottom of it and have it articulate back and fourth with the front fender? It could be attached right to the front forks from behind.

You should re-gear the bike, look up Jack's small engines for different rear sprockets I us a 48 tooth no wheelies

@@ultimaterebuilds7127 Well, I'm in Australia so a different choice to what you would have. We would still be able to use VW products and other European vehicles that we got here but then I suppose anything with those rounded shaped fenders would be good.
Maybe something like an old Citreon 2CV? Or maybe just something you make from scratch.
