You have been one of the best out there ! We have learned so much ! Our favorite is Johnson 9.9 "Jonnyrude" conversion... Yeah maan It's the real deal baaaaby ! That video is great. And the 40$ rummage sale 20hp that beat u up putting it on your side bracket...that was so halaroius.anyway we learned a lot from you and please make more videos of small 2 stroke Johnson's!! 4-15hp !
Hey awesome job getting to 10k subscribers and it's showing excellent fishing all the way through Thursday catch you next time and tell Cpt Mark hope he gets better from covid
Congratulations 🎉👏. I've been here since the beginning and this is well deserved. Thanks for all of the years of great content. Entertaining and informative. Keep em coming!
Great job on your 10,000 subs. you deserve it you have a neat thing going & I thank you again for helping me a bit for your shout out with the knobs .I also do it just for fun and a hobby too. I would lay that 25HP horizontal or tilt it horizontal and drop some WD-40 with a tad of 2 stroke oil down the cylinders to soak for a day or too and recheck it... Im painting one now as we speak a 72 Evinrude 25. I concocted crude rotisseries for the parts for painting it on the next nice day. Happy Spring from the TOT62!....
Hey. Thanks man! I'm thinking some of that STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner that I use to soak the carbs. It works pretty good! Happy Spring 2 U 2. Hahaha
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Yeah that would work too. I keep a spare electric starter and bracket ready to use if I get a motor that wants me to pull it million times to start too old for that now, LOLLL ! Could save me from a heart attack,LOL!
Congrats from the Netherlands! Your channel is my happy place, yeah baby!! At first i thought who is this guy? He crazy...but now im really enjoying ur videos Like you, im also working on old Johnson and Evinrude outboards. Im working on a 1988 20 horse shortshaft, trying to make it run smooth and make it looking pretty I have learned allot from you videos! Thanks and keep it up!
Thanks so much! I mentioned you, I think in this video or the next one. When you had all those bugs in your outboard. That was you, right? Hahaha Thanks again !
Yes that was the old 33hp ski twin. I deleted those videos. Be careful pull starting at your young age. Still recovering from rotator cuff tear from the 40hp over a year ago😡
It might be an idea to squirt some Auto transmission fluid in the bores, replace the plugs, and turn the motor over. If the rings are stuck,it will alter the compression.
Congrats on the 10,000 well deserved subs! Your giving us gold out here with all the great tips, tricks and mechanical advice. Hey, and the humor ain’t bad either. I’m always getting a good laugh out of the funny things you come out with. My favorite videos were of the Starcraft transom rebuild and all the Starcraft improvements. Since I have a similar boat, those videos will be very helpful when transom replacement comes my way. And love the fishing videos. Keep ‘em coming and soon you’ll be at 20,000 subs!
Congrats on the 10K!!! You've good speed. Just watched two lately that did prop tests and speed/handling. 1 guy had the 115 with a 3 blade stainless 3 1/4X19. Tried a 4 blade 3 1/4X17, hated it. To much bow ride, never planed right. Tried a 4 blade 3 1/2X15. Loved it. Lost 3+ mph-37 mph to just over 33mph but it went straight to plane, had never turned so steadily. Other put on a tilt/jack plate. 17 foot Sportsman 90 hp. Went from 34 mph to 38 mph. You've had yours from 33 to 38, different props, with a 70, plenty fast. My 15' dbl hull skiff runs 31.5 but I tweaked it with some motorcycle/car dragstrip tricks from the past. I planed .002 off the head, I used a .004 thinner gasket. I used a 35 intake/reeds with the 25 carb, 2 numbers higher on the jets and polished it like chrome. And that was before I recently discovered wires were holding my advance plate back 3/8th inch at WOT. Haven't been in the water in a month since then, getting old problems. Again CONGRATS on the 10,000!!
Hey good job on your channel. I really enjoy watching all your projects! Keep up the good work. Normally a compression check is done with the butterfly wide open. It still works the way your doing it but its best to have the inlet air unrestricted. You could check the runnout on the crank stub, but you would need a dial indictor. Harbor Freight has them. Any more than .002" and I would be a little concerned. It would be nice to get the motor running and warmed up then recheck the compression.
Great Video - the 60 sings. Lot of difference between top and bottom cylinders on 25. Might have a busted ring - do you have an endoscope you can use to look inside? You can get them relatively reasonable that will work off your phone. Hope it is just stuck rings and not ruined bore.
Hey Thanks for tuning in. No but I did think about taking off the exhaust cover. I got it to run, it actually sounded pretty good. I took a beatin pulling on it. Stay tuned for the next episode !
Damn! When those motors start screwing you hard, they don't pull out. It's not rings--that would be an entirely different set of symptoms. Pull the head and compare the positions of the pistons as you rotate them to TDC. That top one is going to stop further back from where the bottom one does. Defacto bent crank. And that low compression also hints at a bent connecting rod. When those cranks are bent, you don't always see the flywheel wobble. Complicated physics...but the bend usually occurs inside between 2 of the 3 bearing points. Only time you'll see it in the flywheel is if the bend occurred outside the block in the top segment, or if the crankcase cover is broken. Overall, I think it can be saved. It will be expensive, but I've managed to find really awesome deals for NOS parts on ebay. As of a year ago, $300 or less is a reasonable expectation. If needed, I can recommend a few sellers who've given me excellent service. I feel bad for your buddy. Whoever gave that thing to him...that was just criminal. Hard to believe they did not know it was that bad off.
I think the shake is caused by having a plug left in.Do you have the throttle wide open?Apparently, compression tests should be with the throttle wide open.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! No. No throttle handle and the linkage is all froze up. Thats what they say but I've never seen a difference. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. My Starcraft and Johnson outboard uses an external regular 6 gallon tank. So I don't have a clue how a built in tank is mounted on these things. Sorry I couldn't help you.
I have a 1975 johnson 25hp im struggling to restore would you be willing to take a look at a subscribers motor and get it up and running again? I have problems removing hardware without them snapping or shearing due to the corosion on most my bolts
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Well, sounds a lot like this 25. I'll tell you the same thing I told him when he first brought it over. It's just not gonna be worth it for you to pay someone, especially with bolts breaking. The hours spent on broken bolts alone can add up fast. When it becomes a "build" you can't put an estimate on it. Just being honest with the you. But somehow he brought it back and talked me into looking at it, Hahaha, so thats all I'm doing with it. Just looking it over. I've got a 25 Tracker coming in, hopefully this week, which is my motor that I'll be starting on. But Thanks for asking I appreciate that. If there's any other way I can help don't hesitate to ask!
Just keep bringing me a little Florida sun each week and I'll be here watching!
Hahaha! Okay ! Thanks so much!
