You are the FIRST person to mention the detail of her using magic to redo the braid in her hair!! I was so freaking amazed by that small detail Gigi put in and so sad to see no one talk about it! So thank you for pointing that out!
One detail i love about gigi's animatic is that in the shot where the men are fleeing, you can see someone on the roof. It's meant to be Elpenor, who, as we all know by now, gets drunk and dies after falling off her palace.
I’m SO happy you did Gigi’s animatic for this song! I love all the little character details they put in. How Circe undoes and re-ties her hair, how she circles Ody, how the nymphs are weary when they see Ody but relax when Circe assures them it’s okay. The way the color palette changes when she mentions the Underworld, and the animation for the smoke, how it’s all sketchy looking. Ugh I could gush about this animatic forever. I also just love this Circe design. She’s kind of has a lion motif happening. It’s really neat. The little drawing at the end card with Ody missing his wife and Circe just looking so done. It’s so cute and funny.
"You can show a person that you trust them, when you stop & lower your guard" Odysseus DID lower his guard, though not in the way Circe wanted. He stopped being that cocky guy who came to her palace looking for a fight "I must be a god like you" & instead laid his heart bare & simply _asked_ Circe for help/mercy Also "I'd like to show my friend that kindness is brave" "Maybe showing one act of kindness, leads to kinder souls down the road" We get A Lot of references to Polites' belief system in this saga Oh, I'm so excited for your takes on the next saga!
So Funny story about the rejection thing. "I have been in love once before" Circe was in love with a man who loved another, and so turned her into a monster out of jealousy. The woman's name was Scylla.
If it's not on the playlist then PLEASE watch Ximena's version of "No Longer You!" It's one of the best ones in my opinion. I love her design for Tiresias and there's an amazing ending part to it. Ximena's stuff almost never gets reacted too besides her version of "Wouldn't you like" and that's very sad in my opinion. Also, loved the reaction!!!
I hope he goes with TheeArteest's "Underworld" or falperio05's The one on the playlist has VERY different designs for the characters which I _know_ can easily throw casual fans off And tho the art is nice, the expressions are minimal, which might also not give him a lot to go on (And falperio05's Underworld is tragically underrated
I LOVE that you caught the viola melody! It’s not saying persephone, but Penelope, his wife’s name, with her signature instrument :) to say he’s thinking only of her in that moment
You mentioned alternative animatics and I wanted to add something quickly. There is an animatic in the next saga called ‘No Longer You’. There are two versions that go for that one- Gwendy’s, and Ximena’s. I’m not sure which one is on the playlist, but I _highly recommend_ Ximena’s.
Not really a paragraph but in the original Story after convincing cearcy to Let them stay on the island, they actually stayed there for about 2 years. Allowing Odysseus and his men to regain their strength and refill their stores of food. And oddly enough. I'm not too sure how many but at least one man dies. Whilst on the island in the stupidest accident, you could think of.
0:46 That actually makes some real sense I had never really considered that interpretation of odysseus's reaction to cersei'dropping her dress, I had always kind of interpreted it as him simply being so focused on his wife that he didn't want to engage with any of that nonsense, but I didn't even think about the fact that she went from "die you worthless mortal" to "paint me like one of your French girls" in about 3 minutes flat, that would definitely set a man off balance
What's really funny is that Odysseus doesn't have *any* reservations about sleeping with Circe in the original. And he spent *how long* warming her bed?
Yeah, making Odysseus an exceptionally faithful husband is one of those changes to the original that I think works pretty well, in part because it's obvious that within the context of his culture, he's unexpectedly and *weirdly* monogamous.
There is the whole part about how Hermes basically tells Odysseus that his only course of action in order to survive Circe and save his men from her is to let her seduce him, but make her swear she won't hurt him in exchange, which technically makes it pretty questionable how consensual or without reservations their sleeping together is. (basically every translation also pushes its own opinion on the events too lmao) It would be easy to argue that he kept warming her bed because he wanted to, but also that he did it to keep her happy, since she only really swore safety and aid to him, and not the rest of them. You're right that the difference between that and Epic is really funny though, cultural context reasons or not.
So I have a strange question related to the discord. Apparently I am unable to message in any of the channels. Is there someone who can help, did I miss something? Or what?
And to add to that, there's one where that chd goes to Othaca and kills Odysseus and marries Penelope and they have a child. And through the advice of Athena, Telemachus marries Circe and has children with her.

10:29 yes absolutely that would be so incredibly amazing to be able to do, I’m so tired of braiding my hair so much, if any hair somehow slips out I have to redo the entire braid, my fringe section of my hair is always shorter no matter what and it always slips free so I have to redo my braid like every hour 😭 seriously I’d love to have that ability.

That would be Elpenor, who died cuz he drank on the top of Circe's palace and fell to his death lol
Not a woman myself, I'm nonbinary, but yea magic easy hairstyle alteration powers would be wonderful.

Probably what's happened is you need to check the rules out, that's normally what's going on
In the actual myth, Circe fell in love with Odysseus and had a child with him.
