Rebels just made the Stormtroopers look like incompetent idiots. I'm not biased towards them, I'm fully for the Rebel Alliance, but I know that the Stormtroopers were elite soldiers who were incredibly skilled.

@@carlycrays2831 I mean to be fair, soldiers on the field need to survive off combat rations. By exposing the Clones to only this type of food, it meant that they genuinely had nothing else to compare it to... even if the rations were awful, the Clones would never know.

A mix of clones and humans would have been good in the Empire. You have normal humans for police jobs and zones where there wasnt alot of combat and clones (from multiple people so they are not all the same) for full battlezones.

Not exactly. For one, the Stormtroopers are just plain cheaper. More importantly, allowing normal people into the military creates jobs and, ultimately, loyalty to the Empire.

@@OptimusMaximusNero stormtroopers are elite warriors (see the opening of ANH). They had amazing aim and harsh training. They also were a police force. Regular citizens make way better police then some genetically identical clones who were isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The stormtroopers were a much better choice for the Empire.
@@OptimusMaximusNero Sure, but at the same time, you need jobs for regular people to keep loyalty. Part of the point of the clones for Palpatine was that they kept normal people out of the war, to keep people poor before the Empire and to give them jobs afterwards.

I don't think the fact that they had no covering on their hand was an oversight I think they did it on purpose because they knew that they would need the extra movement because if you think about it a B1 you see countless times get completely destroyed by civilians but a Super Battle Droid the only thing that I could think of taking it out without a gun would be r2d2 in Revenge of the Sith and that was with oil and Flame other than a Jedi you have no real reason to engage Super Battle Droid hand-to-hand a B-1 you don't need any special plating to destroy in any of the other droids that they might have encountered we're usually so rare that you can't outfit the entire Army to deal with it maybe he's special forces groups could use them more efficiently but a normal clone just has no reason

Best way to handle the melee problem would obviously to give them electro melee weapons, like swords or knives, along with underbarrel shotguns and EMP-loaded handguns or hand-shotguns. That way they wouldn't have to worry about going fists-only on droids.
the commando katarn wristblade seems like a good option, rather cheap, fits in the hand protection, and allows for easier melee

Another flaw is that very few clones could adapt when things didn't go as planned.
Essentially, most clones couldn't counter guerilla tactics and/or would be defeated by unusual tactics, as seen during the Battle of Jabiim where the Jabiimi nationalists were able to drive the Republic off of Jabiim in what was basically a Vietnam-style battle.
I don't think that's so much a clone flaw as it is them being rank and file infantry.
The Roman Legions for instance were invincible in an open field in an infantry vs infantry fight because they were trained to fight as cohesive units but if you put them in rough and/or forested terrain like when they were invading Scotland or Germany they could be placed at a greater disadvantage because unit tactics left them too slow to effectively fight back against a smaller more agile enemy force.
It was also used to great effect by the Irish in their history.
Plus there is the very nature of Guerilla tactics which is they are the ones operating on the offensive which also puts you at a disadvantage.

Clones aren’t suited to fighting organic armies and mandos would be hard to have a large scale army of, unless we’re during the Mando Neo-crusader times. In which they still lost to the republic.

Gaius Wyrden and they still couldn’t beat one Mandalorian. Maul’s army on the other hard was giving the clone army a hand time. They’re warriors from childhood to adult.
@Gaius Wyrden Clones had long training experiences at Kamino since their inception and birth as well. The difference in quality of armor and weaponry between the clones and stormtroopers isn't that extreme, as opposed to the drastic improvements made in the Imperial Navy compared to the Republic Navy (ISDs and Executor SSDs were far beyond Venators in power). Clone armor also does look more advanced than stormtrooper armor, even considering that stormtroopers came first in the Original trilogy, whereas clones came from the CGI-Prequels trilogy. Even in later stormtrooper iterations in other Star Wars media - i.e. Rebels or comics - stormtrooper armor just looks less advanced and more restricting in terms of body movement and agility.
Also, consider that the U.S. Marine Corps is oftentimes not given most up-to-date field equipment as the other branches oftentimes, but is considered superior in terms of quality and skill to U.S. Army soldiers.

The name alone isn't enough. Their performance must be up to the task at hand. And their performance in the films is absolute garbage.
You could call Marines the Puppy Brigade, and they would still be far more effective on the battlefield and devastating to morale than those "Stormtroopers".
On a side note: When it comes to determining the quality of troops, it's somewhat of a bad sign that they get singled out for guard duty...
The slide with the Clones fighting and getting infected by the Flood was rather interesting.
The Grand Army of the Republic was a stable fighting force, but biological weapons were effective against the clones, and irregular enemies were extremely effective as well compared to the Clones. Their training was great, but actual warfare would be a shocking experience for all clones troopers who couldn’t realize why they were fighting for the Republic.
Sort of sad when you consider that the clones really had absolutely no idea and no choice about what they were getting into.
Carly Crays The Republic Commando novels opened my eyes to this dilemma. I hate how the clones are forced to perform as the child slave army for a Republic that treated it worse than _droids_ .

@Gaius Wyrden To be honest though, clone armor at least looks more advanced than stormtrooper armor - even when considering that stormtroopers appeared in the Originals first and clones in the newer Prequels. In later iterations of stormtroopers, aside from the Originals, they still continue to look less advanced in terms of armory.
And like how in real life, marines are oftentimes not given the most up-to-date personal arms and gear, they're considered more skilled than their U.S. Army counterparts.

i love it how you pull most of this stuff from legends and the republic commando series.
Honestly the biggest flaw in the GAR wasn't even the clones. As many singular clones led directly under Jedi were very personable toward others and gained levels of individuality even if they were still first and foremost fall in line soldiers. The biggest flaw with the GAR was that (likely due to Palpatine) there was no call to active arms for building militia forces or a volunteer army to supplement then take over for the clones after the war was over. Replacing the standing army of clones as units died. The biggest clone flaw was that they were the only soldier in the arsenal on a grand scale.
Wrong. Legends features a massive draft effort of non-Clone soldiers starting part-way through the war, which would later form the core of the Imperial Army while the infantry Clones went on to become Stormtroopers.
All loyalist sectors and many wealthier loyalist worlds also contributed their own militaries to the Republic war effort.

The one about the hand armor is very accurate, in one of the clone wars episodes/movies a clone is at the front of a charge, he loses his weapon, he whacks a seperatist droid in the head, it stuns it, he cries out in pain holding his hand, the droid then fires into his chest.
All liked the same food? the Kaminoans gave them nutrient-rich protein cubes for all the dietary needs to make them into the strongest soldiers possible, they didn't give a shit about if the clones liked it.

One of the major uses the clones could of had in a continued republic army, would be using the clones to help reconstruction of the galaxy, similar to how the romans used their legions in construction when they weren't campaigning

A major oversight of the clone army is that at any point they would be forced to kill all of the Jedi. That’s not very helpful when fighting in a war with the Jedi. :/
The best thing about living soldiers is that solders are incredibly adaptable and can adjust a lot faster then a droid.
But with that said I can’t find to much things that are special in the clones from for example the US army but the Us army is still cheaper

@General grievous does not like Fortnite lmao, no. First of all, any time they fought an organic army they literally got destroyed, even when they were fighting droids they still struggled sometimes. Sorry to say but it’s evident that clones weren’t really suited for fighting organic and even struggled against the cheap inorganic droids in some cases. But yeah, almost every time they battle an organic army they get destroyed. Examples listed below, umbara and geonosis were blood baths.

Except for the fact that they’re time consuming to train, utilise, and often are killed in droid wave tactics, or god forbid a single battle against an organic army. Because in most cases they’re just massacred hard. Even with decent tactics. The CIS had generally incompetent generals. No matter how “intelligent” the show says they are, their performance always tells a different story.

If you really think the clones needed "better hand protection", you should probably try operating a firearm in adverse conditions while wearing a gauntlet.
