Allen What a job to replace a hose you would not think you would get a air leak from that hose to affect the running of the engine revs then get rid of the oil fumes I think you must service the complete unit all the seals and hoses same tine save revisiting it a other time has it is such a pain of a job to do but good video mate I would imagine a none mechanic would find d it hard to trace that leak their selves and take it to a for a big bill knowing this could save owners a let of money well done mate for sharing this Phil in stoke
Just got a 99 Focus 1.8 16V Zetec, was told it was mechanically sound!! Well this hose you speak of was collapsed; causing the valve to cease up and all the new lower seals to blow out... I have replaced the hose with a silicone one and applied a new valve. The beast runs much better now, only got the oil pan and RTV to replace and it should be good for now!
👍 Hi, there are special pliers with cable extensions for these spring clips. You also need them when you work on the hidden cooling water hoses. There are a total of 8 bolts on the intake manifold. By the way, mine now has 340tkm with LPG and is still running well. If something is wrong with the PCV (there is a small spring behind the ball), the MAP sensor can be damaged and negatively affect the fuel mixture and emissions.
I like to take a thermos mug of hot water from the kettle to pour on stuck hoses. Helped alot whne I was working on the clutch master on my mk3 last winter. Was still a pig but the hoses have me no grief.
Thanks for the tip for how to remove fans easyer... 8:22 yeah its clued (@bottom of the clip) by factory for easy install and allso that clip is hold of by cap until install... 12:04 personaly break cleaner or lock oil. Lock oil/ gun oil is my poison as you dont have to be so fast to fit that manifold in. And yes when you are working for customer put new seals for the manifould its like 4 bucks and job is 200 or so no point to be back for those. 13:20 thanks for the heads up! ...not meny stil drives hear but anyway if one cums up and i see that hose is fine then ...
all duratec engines had the same problems no matters titanium or funarium. after several failure this short rubber s..t i produce my own from soldered few pieces copper pipes and elbow, and use just coolant pipes (proper diameter) to connect manifold with engine, problem solved forever I think. I driving with this 15 years now🤗
Watched this and a customer rings me next day 2004 Mondeo 1.8 my revs stick between 2500 and 3000 rpm guess what I’ve got booked in next week, ain’t had to do one in years what a jynx lol
I still run a 2L Duratec. Now 17 years old and done 79,000. I hope I do not have to do that job. Glad to see others using them. I wonder what mileage yours had covered? My ticks over below 1000 about 850. You are a genius the way you approach jobs in such a neat and effective way. Lucky folk that live near your garage.
Taking a punt on asking a mk5 question in a mk3 video 🤣, can the halogen unit be swapped out for ford led dynamic unit or does it require a different loom or code? Don't wanna get after market bulbs for halogen projectors.
Hello Allan , my mk3 mondy is blowing lots of air out of the oil filling hole on the engine, could this Blow-by be a clogged pcv or worn out engine ? Thanks
My duratec used to suck a lot of oil thru this hose, and it seems like this engines did that too. I installed a simple oil catch can and the problem is gone.
I've done it mate I've bought a mondeo lol, 2014 titanium x business edition it's fully loaded what a car to drive. Any advice would be great, my first ford for years last one I had was a mk3 escort xr3i which I turned into rs turbo replica lol.
On the MK3 TDCI's its the hose from the intercooler to the EGR that splits on a regular basis. Over 100 quid from Fraud. Much cheaper from euro car prats....
Bloody terrible those PSA 1.6 petrol engines they have loads of problems. One came in last week with 60k on it and the rings had gone was be.ting out blue smoke.
@@FatHead1979 well I’d does he mentioned an engine swap into a mini at the end of the video with that engine. Anyway those 2l Mazda Duartecs are no where as near as bulletproof as the original silver top and blacktop in the mk1 and 2 mondeo.
Can you check for me and tell me if the PCV valve is causing the oil consumption? the car smokes blue even when accelerating hard, it is a petrol 1.8 duradec 2006. the values on the link were measured today with a warm engine. the language we speak is Dutch, and the man is talking about the fact that the Lambda is probably broken, it indicates too low. and the CO is too high, it should be 0.29 and is around 1.75%. I hope you can tell me whether the catalyst or lambda is still good, what do you think? ua-cam.com/users/shortsmOCU7ezdwzU?si=24KsytL-hp6MeouX
you probably will not want to hear this but those duratec engines are common for burning oil which is no doubt contributed to destroying the catalytic converter causing a high co%. it wont be the pcv valve, it will be a combination of valve stem oil seals and piston rings
@alan4x Thanks for your response. but then I understand that the Mondeo is actually destined for scrapping. because in the Netherlands they are very strict with emissions. And I don't have the money for a revision block. What a shame because the car is super sleek! and otherwise in top condition, there is no rust, not even on the door panels, and everything works. But okay, sorry again. And thank you for your honesty
@@alan4x To get to the PCV valve, the intake must be loosened by 8 bolts. but the leftmost one is under the power steering pump. I don't like that. I've looked everywhere. but where is the leftmost bolt???? I know which location on the drawing. but can't you post a link with a photo and circle the bolt? I have a 1.8 petrol from 2006 Mondeo Mk3
yes i would be concerned, the crooks who set the take me name up were fleecing the companies they took over, extorting all the money out of the companies.they are backed by a public company in singapore called mbh holdings which is legitimate but the 2 guys who were running it in the uk..john gardner and david something are a pair of crooks and need to be avoided...we got rid of them and are now dealing direct with mbh holdings

Hi there Alan great video Can you tell me what the problem was with the mini engine ?
head gasket or cracked cylinder head..we just put a new engine in the car to save time
A lot of great information here 👍 Thanks!
😊
Are the hoses for the crank case the same on the 1.8 2009 mk2.5 and your engine
Taking a punt on asking a mk5 question in a mk3 video 🤣, can the halogen unit be swapped out for ford led dynamic unit or does it require a different loom or code? Don't wanna get after market bulbs for halogen projectors.
no it would require a different wiring loom as well

@@Davethedadof2 that would be a lot easier, those dynamic units would be an expensive modification

more than likely the engine but check that pcv hose is not collapsed
Hi Alan, I have a Focus Duratec 2.0. Can the PCV Valve cause Oil consumption?
How about making a video on how you put that mini back on one piece? An taking Moni for a test drive with that Mini
lol

A Peugeot engine failing on a Mini! There’s a surprise. Bore score by any chance?
overheated badly, we believe cracked head
I did it twice at least, never removed anything only inlet manifold, not too hard with the right tool.
