      fall back are you kidding me? he even said it himself, it's his first time doing a pull in the car and in a manual. of course he ain't gonna do such a fast time when he has no experience in a manual. Plus i meant this camaro will whoop that "hot car" easily on the track. That's what the 1LE is meant for.

    • @oldblood_eyes
      @oldblood_eyes 7 років тому +3

      fall back rationalizing? So you're saying he's lying? and dude, can't you read? I already told you why i don't bring up the streets. The camaro 1LE was meant for the TRACK. And no, for straight line performance, the 1LE is not aerodynamically fit. For the track yes, but not for drag racing. It needs to get rid of that duck tail if it wants better straight line performance. You really don't know shit huh? And of course, most would think he downgraded. Most of his viewers are dodge fans.

      You probably shouldn't call it a POS if you want to be taken seriously. It's far from that.
      If you take stock numbers weight vs power from the scat vs the SS, the SS on paper is on par or may beat the Scat with perfect drivers. I love both cars. I'm debating which to get in the next year. You bring up the Hellcat. While it's a beast, we are talking $20K+ more. Maybe he could afford it, maybe not. But, I think it's better to gradually climb up the car ladder. That way you get to experience different cars over the years and feel excited with each one.

      fall back, come on bro. "Senselessly"? He said in previous videos he was interested in more of an all around sports car/well balanced car. I liked his SP, but the over 600lb lighter 1LE is indeed a more complete performance car. Plus in that Dark Blue it looks good imo

      Regardless of what happens to the price of the car you're still investing money into it. Obviously we would all love for cars to go up in value but that rarely happens; a slow depreciation on something you use everyday is what you hope for.

    the first inital miles are due to testing...not breaking in the car per say. but there are lots of engine builders that say break the cam in then tune it and do max rpm pulls.

      Exactly!
      REDLINE'n a few times is good to cam and setting seals properly.
      Don't go crazy ALL the time but running through the gears flooring it once every 400 miles till you get to 1200...then, its broken in.
      IF the manual states specifics, follow those! GTR, 911s and several other cars have specific break ins but most cars can follow the rev it out every 400 till 1200 and you'll be good to go.

  • @100aventador
    @100aventador 4 роки тому

    So this break in period is not a myth. However it does apply differently from car to car. BMW limits the power on the M cars until the break in service is done at 1200 miles. The M cars come with very different than they would normally under normal operating conditions. all to help with engine and differential bedding. once the break in service is concluded, we connect the vehicle to the computer and deactivate the break in system. and insert the proper engine and differential oil. (i know this video is old but i figured this would be informative)

    Your car has launch control. I have a 2016 camaro ss manual. You go to track mode. Double click the traction control button. That puts it into "competition mode". Then you put the gas to the floor (engine will set to 4000rpm). Then just drop the clutch.

    I don't think that the factory intentionally puts on those 4 or 5 miles. Instead I think it happens as the car is moved off the production line, loaded on to a transport, truck or train, then unloaded at the dealership, then taken for dealer prep, then taken out to the sales floor.

  • @JMCDetailing
    @JMCDetailing 7 років тому +1

    Read the owners manual. They all tell you to take it easy for the first 1500 miles or so. The whole factory miles as the most important is not necessarily ture. You want to go through the owners manual for the correct break in progress

    Hi ,
    First time I watch your channel As you stated leave comments below well I am a Auto/Diesel Tech 36+ years.I have built many engines and I do not agree with any manufacture manuals as to break in a Engine.These manuals are written for the guy that is not mechanically inclined.With that said not to offend anyone BUT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT ARE DOING WITH ANY HIGH PERFORMANCE CAR DO NOT DO WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY AND I MEAN IT! AS YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF YOUR CAR AND ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU!!!!!THIS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT ONLY.
    1 The engine when new is partially broken in from the factory as they do a cold break in on the engine.
    2.The first 300 miles should be somewhat easy but engine needs to be pushed to 4000 - 4500 RPM ON 3/4 throttle accelerations.Reason being break the Camshaft in and this is usually the component that fails first on a new engine.
    3. After 300 miles you can do hard accelerations off the line to near red line you should hold the HIGH RPM A FEW MOMENTS AT A TIME.NEVER OVERREV THE ENGINE INTO RED LINE OR YOU WILL DESTROY THE ENGINE.ALSO DO NOT TRUST THE COMPUTER TO PREVENT THE ENGINE DROM REACHING RED LINE!!!
    The reason being for doing this is to stretch the connecting rods to there max length.Although this is a small amount .002-.005 thousands of a inch it's purpose is to set the ridge for the top compression ring up high as it can go.Not doing this usually is the number one reason for compression ring issues later on down the road.
    Changing the oil at 1000 miles is fine as I do this myself.But if you need proof of how hard a new engine can be pushed if it is built correctly watch Hennessey take a 2017 ZL1 TO 174 MPH WITH 24 MILES ON IT.If a Engine is going to fail it will happen in the first 1500 through 8000 miles.This does not apply to the 2017 Malibu with the scotch 1.8 liter as this engine explodes all by itself.

    You should get more than one camera. It would be nice to see different angles of the exterior while driving.
    Also when you talk about tracking the car, do you mean strip or course? It would be nice to see it on a race track to see how it handles.

  • @theworthywatch9846

    Initial break in miles are best rolled up in cooler temperatures with night time best for the initial 200-300 miles. Heat is the enemy early on because friction is highest as parts shed very minor, but very real imperfections.
    Limit revs, but vary them also. Chevvy recommends no more than 4K during first 1,500 miles. If you change oil and filter after first 1,500 miles and you can open up the filter you will see many very small bits of metal.
    As far as top performance, my experience is an engine requires a few thousand miles to rev as freely as needed for top performance.
    Just my two cents.

    I want to start off by saying that I own a 2007 jeep srt8, and yes I am a mopar fan. With that being said, I really like the Camaro and the 1le is a bad machine. The only question that I would have for RP is if the scatpack would not have had the little irritating problems (air, remote start) would you have gotten the Camaro after only 8 months of ownership with the scatpack. I know all the comments about you wanted a more well rounded sports car sound great, but was that truly your motive... I think a lot of your subscribers would have loved to see you upgrade the scatpack and show us what it could really have become. Either way I love your channel and I think the Camaro is really nice. I just think the scatpack and charger srt8's just look so much better.

    Did you know that Chevy warrants your car? They said from the factory you can go straight to the track the day you buy it 👍 but on my SS I did TRY to break it in but I was flooring my car after 500 miles lol my car sits a lot and I barely drive it unless there's a meet in my area👍

  • @Jonathan-dv8lx
    @Jonathan-dv8lx 7 років тому

    Like the new car Riley. That being said I just wanted to drop my 2 cents, investing in a car these days (unless rare or limited production) is not an investment because they depreciate as soon as you drive off the lot, but I will agree that some cars need special break-in periods depending on how they come from the factory. For example: I know that Hellcats (or at least the ones I've driven) have been ran hard from the factory so babying them won't do much except make you miserable until you hit that 1000-1500 miles mark lol. But as long as you enjoy your purchase that's all that matters.

  • @danbongo503

    you're gonna LOVE that thing after intake, headers, exhaust. Chevy small blocks love to breathe. And if you do end up camming it, nothing wrong with a mild cam. Can make some good power that way. Mild cam, intake, headers, cats, heads, and exhaust got me above 450whp on my c5.

    • @danbongo503
      @danbongo503 7 років тому

      I'd disagree with that. For the little amount of money (single cam and all, not to mention c5 prices are down to 10k) and effort, a 430whp car with near 50/50 weight distribution is pretty impressive. Gotta keep in mind 450whp is almost 500hp at the crank, that's on par with all but the biggest baddest muscle cars up until 3-4 years ago.

  • @tbone1493
    @tbone1493 7 років тому

    Some manufactures put an additive in the factory oil to help break in so doing an early oil change may be counterproductive. For example BMW puts such an additive in so its not a good idea to change that out early. Having said that for my M2 the initial service was 1,200 miles, they did an oil change and changed the diff fluid also.

    and not go over 3/4 throttle for the 1st 1500 to 2000 miles.
    then beat it like u stole it..
    my opinion.
    and same with brakes
    don't jam them on for the 1st 500miles

    I never waited to break in a car but if it called for it I probably would. I daily drive a 15 Cammed 1LE. The new 1LE looks good!

    How you liking that manual vs the 8-speed auto in your Scat? I recently traded my 2015 Sublime Scat 8-speed auto for a 2016 Shaker Scat with the 6 speed manual and I love it! Makes the car so much more fun to drive! The car also sounds so much better going through the gears with the manual than it did with the automatic. The 0-60 times with the Scat and Camaro are about the same at 4.2 to 4.5 seconds I've read. Both are plenty quick!

    I'm an independent hauler and when new cars come up from the factory, basically anything fast or has an v8, the guys that unload the cars hammer down the lot every time to the parking spots. No warm up time before unloading or anything smh. Especially when hellcats and or focus rs shows up lol

    The reason all cars come with miles is because they test them. They are not break in miles. Also most modern vehicles the engines are ran prior to mating with chassis, this is to break in engine.

    The proper break in procedure isn't really based on miles but heat cycles. Typically, it's suggested 5 good heat cycles is proper break it. Most people finish this within the first 500 miles so why not just tag it at 500 miles and call it a day. Personally, Romp on it. If it's gonna break, it'll break regardless. lol

  • @TehZured

    4 miles can be put on in just the assebly line and moving around getting loaded and unloaded. worked at a railyard and seen many things. Lots of abuse from unloaders and damaged vehicles from not being secured or just shifting on the train, even being put on trucks to the dealer.
