People should know this show was remade in many other countries "Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Singapore". This show is hilarious and brings people together.

Amazing show - They don’t make em like these anymore. And the characters, all so simple individuals and likeable.
Masterpieces like this wouldn't exist on this decade because of the soaring number of politically correct people whining about everything. Every culture has stereotypes of other cultures and this show used to bring out these qualities in a very light-hear'ed kinda way.

There is no such thing. What he is using is called received pronounciation to make it clearer for his students to understand. It's only used by teachers (the good ones that is), the posh and richly educated and BBC people. Everyone else uses accents. My accent is the shame as Sean Bean's (we are both from Sheffield).
NeelyFanForever Actually this is his real accent. There’s plenty of people who speak very clear and pronounced like this. It sounds like South Eastern English. If you listen to Tom Hardy’s real accent it’s very similar but Britain has a huge variation of accents so there is no such thing as a British accent or even an English accent.

people of my generation grew up watching these shows and loved Mr. Brown specially. i feel guilty the way Barry Evans faded away and then died in such tragic circumstances. he drove cabs for a while but quit and died penny less, and alone.
That is so sad for Mr Brown. I loved him and he was so cute he was a good actor. Made me very sad to hear that.

I’m African Muslim and I always wished they brought an African stereotype lmao that would be soooo hilarious. Of course people without a sense of humor would complain about racism...
They actually played on that in another manner when the inspector and, later, his wife show up. It's clever because it turns the negative stereotype a lot of ppl had on its head and made it funny. Great acting too despite both being minor characters.

Actually this is a must watch for aspiring English teachers.
Once I got to know this comedy I watched all of them just within 2 days (5 seasons)I don't know if there are more ..old days was full of humour and no one complained about racism..

My parents used to watch this show and loved it. I watched the re-runs on TV in the 80s and 90s. This classic comedy, had me in stitches. Miss shows like this. All we have on TV now are reality shows and someone being killed in one of those long running serials! 😢
