You don't see what it really mean like a big chunk raw of thought that you'd have to swallow the first time. Rather slice it into different parts and let the opponent that incorrectly interpret the move fall for the sac.
But the Trojans accepted the sacrifice (of the horse) as the majority of the opponents of the genius of Riga. Tal (and also Fischer), remind me sometimes the figure of Odysseus.
i don't know if it is right to write here another chess commentator's word but, it is good. "Houdini would melt in the presence of Tal." MatoJelic once said that.
Jorge C. Check out Queen sac. houdini vs stockfish TCEC. computers that good would never end up in a position where tal-like moves can totally outplay one. Its just good moves only and a lot of games that dont look so crazy. Although that aint always the case.
you are doing a great job brother....chess is not the same without tal...tal's games are imortal... if not the best ever, for sure the most fantasy player ever...
Very impressive action by Tal.. Enjoyed this game too much.. thanks.. I like your commentary because it is straight to the point without much non useful talkative commentary like other chess coaches
I feel like you should explain a bit more why the final position is lost - sure, white gets a queen but so does black after 1 ...Rxg5 2. Kxg5 d3 3. g7 d2 4. g8Q d1Q. We all know that queen vs queen endgames can be difficult to win (even with an extra pawn), however white has the move 5. Qb3+ forcing a trade of queens and leaving white with an easily winning K+P endgame.
Matthew S Good point, but this should be easy enough for the audience to figure out by ourselves and probably that’s why Agadmator didn’t spend extra time on it
Tal was amazing. The way he played needed excellent health and stamina. I think it was impossible to maintain it once he was no longer young. I loved his games and he was a source of inspiration to me when I was playing competitive chess as a young boy.
it wasnt impossible to maintain it, he simply chose not to, yet he still managed to compete at the top level up until he died. who knows how strong he would have been if he had actually taken care of his health instead of drinking and smoking all the time.
Wow! What a brilliant game. It stands with either of Fischer's Games of the Century or Spassky's Bluebird. Kudos to Tal's trainers. And kudos to you Agadmator, for your great analysis.
I'm only six months into chess and falling in love for this game. Watch a new video from your channel everyday, love the content! Also, Tal was, indeed, The Magician
The whole sequence of moves throughout the game gives the impression of having been calculated almost from the beginning, but it's so complicated, with seemingly disparate and isolated pieces interacting in critical ways at the end. I barely play chess, but it's clear even to uneducated eyes like mine that something magical was going on when Tal played.
Tals games are a work of art. It try to model my style after his, but it's literally impossible to be that unpredictable and brilliant for a normal human being
Everytime I watch this I'm amazed. How does one acquire such vision and foresight? I'm sure lots of practice, but surely you must be born with a chess gene.
In case you are wondering at 9:31 why Hecht resigned, it is because after Black's unstoppable promotion to a queen at d1, White has qb3+, which is forced unless Black wastes a move by moving the king. After forcing a trade of queens, the f-pawn cannot be stopped, and will reach promotion well before the promotion of the a-pawn.
I'm not a good chess player, but man how can one not appreciate the level of thinking here. Also great job with the videos, I have watch many many of them. Thank you.
In the second hypothetical scenario - _i.e._ the "knight contingency" - following Tal's optional knight/bishop sacrifice, everything is forced up until 5:24 whereupon the king has the option of moving to one of either two squares: *b6* or *c8.* You had played‐out only *c8* as if it were forced, yet *b6* seems a better square for black as it maintains rook connectivity. I feel that the king is safe there, because after *b1+* and *d3+,* black can respond with pawn to *c4.* After bishop takes giving another check, the king is transiently safe on *a5* because white's bishop is then preventing his c‐pawn from advancing - thereby giving _checkmate._ If white then tries to retreat his white‐squared bishop to allow this c‐pawn move, . . [. ..never mind, I didn't see bishop to *d6* followed by *b4* checkmate. Black appears to be completely screwed either way, even when considering this third contingency.]
hey, i just discovered your channel, and i'm really enjoying your content and your commentary. Thank you for expanding my knowledge of this beautiful game! I plan to watch every single one of your videos, i find them very instructive and entertaining!

If I have learned something is that Tal sacrifices a queen and 3 pieces in every middlegame, but 20 moves later he ends up up a pawn in a winning endgame.
This game made me laugh so hard. Tal just forces his opponent into the most obvious moves, gobbles up his pawns, exchanges rooks, pushes his own pawn and then makes his opponent resign. Just too easy for him X'D
Also, with the pawns the way it stands when black gives up, when he takes the rook with his own, they both will get a Queen at the same time (black immediately promotes his pawn after white does so) !
I am a chess noob, only discovered about Tal a couple of months ago. By playing very offensively and giving up pieces (trying to imitate Tal) I managed to win some games against a 2000 elo engine in chess pro.
@@hauntinghaze5161 you will still lose your queen if they move the other rook to check but you can then exchaneg queen for rook and you are in a better postion

You can't go wrong with a Tal or Fischer video. Thanks for the effort.

As a general rule, you don't accept Tal's gift. Except you want to see fireworks on the board.
Beware of Greeks when they bring gifts... and also of Mikhail Tal :D
