    That’s right!!! I lived in Baldwin Hills, my grandma was one of the first black females real Estate brokers of Baldwin Hills/View Park, I. The 1970s, her name was DOROTHY WILLIAMS, she worked with DELOY EDWARDS, my grandma Dorothy is BRICCBABY real fathers Auntie. LENNY KRAVITz lived in Baldwin Hills and grew up with my uncle, who went to DORSEY….
    We also have the first black fire chief of LA in our family, and many many other legends of LOS ANGELES

      @ childhood was great they moved us out to the suburbs where we didn’t grow up with all our LA family, tight and connected… so now as adults the close connection to cousins isn’t really there

    Thank you for putting this together Kev Macc. I was raised partially in Windsor Hills because my grandparents owned a home there until they passed in recent years. My dad still talks about being friends with Ray Charles kids. I could talk all day about the area, but anyone being there can feel the historic flow of black achievement just being in the area. Let's not forget stopping at Simply Wholesome for a bite!

    • @Shortcutz625
      @Shortcutz625 Рік тому +17

      @@anthonythomas5998 the area is over 90% black, its not mixed. The residents of the area do stick together. A lot have been in the homes 30,40,50 years. My comment is in regard to a designation that cant continue if people are selling. But to answer the question people who live in that area are representative of what hard work and building wealth can accomplish. At the very least, looking at those that live in the area is inspiring and motivates some to seek the same progress and success.

    • @rks5457
      @rks5457 Рік тому +4

      Yep. And some people need that cash now and the way the market has been going for the past 10 odd years, seems like it reached a peak. It would be great if the homeowner could sell that property to a neighbor but that person would have to have enough cash. I grew up in a neighborhood in the South that got gentrified and one of the neighbors who was cash rich tried to buy out anybody who was trying to leave but enough folks left and he didn't have enough money or will to take on that amount of mortgage loans. It sucks but plenty of folks in LA I've seen who are house poor, especially those whose parents or themselves bought homes when they were cheap as hell pre 1990s. Seen a guy with a property that was worth $750k in 2012 and couldn't make the property tax payments and almost lost his house remortgaging.

    • @dondada310
      @dondada310 Рік тому +8

      So don’t wait on a trust to inherit your parents property. Buy your own house in the neighborhood and god forbid your parents pass but then you’ll have another property in the area. That’s how you add to your families wealth in your own section.. just saying because I did!..
