I like the Crickett for beginners........it makes them take their time when loading and unloading. My girls had one and now their kids are shooting it. I put a shotgun turkey scope on it with the circle crosshair in it and a squirrel doesn't stand a chance. Easy head shots and with cb short ammo, quieter than an air gun.
I bought my son the cricket over the savage I had no idea it had a feed ramp. Shoving the bullet into the small chamber is what he and I really diliked about it.
The length of pull was very easily lengthened on my Savage Rascal to adult size by cutting out, sanding smooth and painting flat black three stock extentions from 3/4" plywood, glue and deckscrew them together and then use black duct tape to fasten the 2-1/4" extention to the end of the black plastic stock. It is not pretty but is invisible from a distance of 10 feet and it works!
Its a sweet little gun and worth the effort to get it to fit right. And it’s not permanent, so you can still return it to its original length of pull if needed.
@@RegularGuysOutdoors My modified Savage Rascal is 11-1/2" from trigger to end of stock; same as my Marlin Model 25. Some folks might like the Rascal longer yet with 2 or 3 more layers of 3/4" plywood but I wanted the minimum length that worked for me, a full sized adult person. I have several other 22 rifles including a couple of semi-autos, a pump and a bolt-action magnum. Right now I am having great fun with the single shot Rascal. The small size, light weight, good accuracy and ease of use make it a keeper!
Considering getting my twin grand daughters the Rascal (gotta have one pink/purple). My youngest son got a wood laminated Crickett back in 96ish and my grandson got another Crickett when he was 3 yo back in 11'. Other advantages on the Rascal is the 3/8 dovetail for scope. Cricketts you have to buy a mount. Just built my grandson a AR15.
Thanks. I've been debating between the Cricket and Rascal as budget friendly youth guns. This helped a lot. BTW - I will use it to dispatch trapped animals and want something very light weight. Hopefully it will be shot by grandkids in the future!
Great Video; But you can put a but pad on the Rascal to lengthen the stock as you did on the Henry I like the Rascal with the wooden stock.Still only 3.25 Lb.
The buttstock on the Rascal is very small. I don't think there is a factory slip on pad for that small of a size. It wouldn't be too aesthetically pleasing, but I bet you could use the buttplate as a template and cut some wood or plastic to size, screw it to the stock and screw the buttplate into it. I am sure someone more creative than me could come up with an option to lengthen the stock a little.
@@RegularGuysOutdoors It would not be hard to make one in leather & have a place for some extra rounds at the same time. If I get one it would be for around the barn and yard so even 1" to 1-1/2' would be enough . Easier to shoot a chicken or duck in the head than chasing it around at 71 yr old. I will make a wood peace up than make a leather cover so be able to take it on and off if some one younger wants to try the rifle. The wood peace would be tacked inside the leather with some fancy brass tacks, to give it a nice look, and every thing laced to the rifle.
@@hildtonmcconnell5626 Now you're talking. The leather covers the wood extension, shell loops for handiness, lace up for a secure fit...gonna look good.
Some years later now but info is still up to date. I have decided on the Savage Rascal for my two grandkids (7 & 8). This review sealed it. thanks!
The little Savage is a steal!
Thanks guys. Trying to decide between cricket and rascal for my six year old. You sold me on the Savage.
That Savage is a really good gun.

Thanks for noting the difference between the cricket and rascal, I wouldn't have known about the feed ramp.
The Rascal is a really nice little gun. Eric got a lot of rabbits on our last small game outing with it.
Love that yall did a review on more than 2 rifles
Thank you! Glad you liked it.

The Crickett has some useful features. It can be loaded, but not cocked, should a young'un(or adult) forget muzzle control.
Thanks guys, well done, exactly what I was looking for
Thank you very much, hope it helped in choosing👍
It did, we went with the savage

Nice review. I needed more time to read the statistics listed
Thank you, just hit the pause button for a thorough look.

Yep, the Rascal has a bunch of great features and is a lot of gun for the money.
Would have loved to see the Henry Mini Bolt
Thank you
Great vid. Thx for sharing!

I have used the Cricket with CB Shorts for that exact thing, very low noise and gets the job done.
How much are we talking price wise for each of these guns in 2021?
(Nice job on the video by the way)
Very good, Thank you very much
I would love to get the Henry simply because it isn't single shot
We certainly wouldn't try to talk you out of it, the Henry is smooth and accurate.

There is a link to a file for a 3D printed stock extension for the rascal online.
good info.. thanks guys
Already looking forward to my grandsons to get a little older.
Lots of good options these days, but I think that savage rascal leads the pack.
Was thinking about getting the savage for my boy whos turning 11, would you recommend that or something a little bigger
If it fits him, its a great one and very affordable.
Lucked out; I just bought the Rascal. The music is irritating!
Rossi liked those 40 grain bullets.
That Rossi is an accurate bargain.
epic mullet
thanks, the front isn't cut either so it's all party-Chris
Bigger mullet, smaller groups
Country Southern Rock Music
Love your muscles!
