The VH1 LEGENDS U2 special was first shown in November 1998. In early 2001, new version aired that was the same but had a new narrator, and couple of minutes added at the end to update what the band had been doing since November 1998. So most of this documentary is nearly 20 years old now.
+John Smith yeh but pretty much doesn't matter because most of what U2 does in general and songwise are all relevant at any given time period, shit, they came outta the bag, with 'boy' blowin' tons of shit-groups away in the 80s 90s and 2000s! and even IMPROVED music from the 70s, 60s, 50s etc.! I Will Follow is a hard solid rock song, off their very first album, 'boy' which they still use to this day! I believe altering it very little if at all! This band were ALWAYS LEGENDS, they don't need some dumbasses-they never did to say who-what they are-were-what ever, what U2 is for sure - unique, themselves, shit I'm 49 a true 80s kid! I grew up with U2! as their music/albums were being made! when there was just pure vinyl, which still rules, cds, digital etc SUCK ASS, you can't beat a good, and by good I mean something from a junk yard-pawn shop USED record player, some off brand that is solid-the older the better, with a mediocre needle and average turntable, and just the right speakers-is the best pure quality sound to enjoy..............don't be fooled by danish bang and olufsen record players-they suck ass, so does sony, pioneer's not bad, but I'd get an older pioneer, see what it is, is these self proclaimed tech genuis' think they know it all about everything, but in the process because they're like that, they majorly fuck up everything, bible says God resisteth the proud and exalts the humble..............these 'genuis' are like the aesop's fable where they are the rabbit vs the turtle in a race, the rabbit-these know it all tech people think they're such hot shit, in their arrogance they run fast and far ahead of the turtle, laughing because they think its a no brainer to cross the finish line before the turtle, so, as they are wayyy out ahead of the turtle, they laugh and think, I'm so far ahead, I bet I'll have plenty of time to take a nap, wake up and STILL beat him lol, they do just that-tech people-rabbit. The dumbass in his arrogance has slept so soundly and long that when he awakes he finds the turtle is close to crossing the finish line before him and has come all this way while he slept. He's like, shit! so the rabbit-tech people put on their burners and run as fast as they can, but too late, just as the rabbit-tech people were upon the finish line, he-the rabbit-tech people see the turtle making his way across the finish line! Old school always wins, technology from the past has become more than sufficient, and dependable, these idiots from the future just keep fixing what isn't broke-and forcing their shit upon others! This is why I live in the 80s and earlier pretty much! it was the best decade for everything! food-movies-music-women-etc-porn-EVERYTHING! they even made boomboxes-portable stereos with 8 track players in the side and also ones with turntables on top! along with double cassette decks and radio with kick ass speakers! you can still find all this stuff on ebay or somewhere out there!
@powerf98 What I loved about the Legends series was in the 90's I became a Doors,The Who and Beatles and rock n roll fan because of it.That's where I give VH1 credit, because it opened my mind up to listen to older music from the 50's- 70's.
Just figure out when Edge's daughter was born, cuz I think he said she was about a year old at the time of the interview. (Hope that doesn't sound creepy as hell)
meccaturbo At one time they were the biggest band. but The Police?... Really?... I mean I love them and they have an awesome back catalogue but at no time in their career were they ever considered the biggest band in the world. Synchronicity was huge but then they broke up right after

It was on in 2001. They played it the same day right before airing the live in Boston show.

Holy Heck - Neil Armstrong is Larry Mullen's dad! 2:08
Just figure out when Edge's daughter was born, cuz I think he said she was about a year old at the time of the interview. (Hope that doesn't sound creepy as hell)

Which bootleg site?
1974..not 1947
I wouldn't say U2 is the biggest band in the world. There are others as well....Rolling Stones, Police, etc.
meccaturbo At one time they were the biggest band. but The Police?... Really?... I mean I love them and they have an awesome back catalogue but at no time in their career were they ever considered the biggest band in the world. Synchronicity was huge but then they broke up right after
