As an 'Under $100' buyer, I've been extremely impressed with the Kizer Justice (partially serrated version) as a "hard use" folder. It's slim enough to easily carry, has plenty of drop point blade, and has a large enough handle to grip comfortably. Has smooth washer opening via thumb studs or flipper and just feels great.
Appreciate modern medium size super steel and strong hinge combination,for whittling log's ( : with those pushing and twisting actions,which presenters rarely mention,and that twisting/pushing strength,that you can't know for certain from pictures alone

I'm new to the world of pocket knives and I've been drooling over the Recon 1 clip point. I know $105 isn't that much for a pocket knife but I've been hesitant to bite the bullet. After seeing so many good things being said about them, I might just have to.
Just got my first Cold Steel. I wanted to test the water and picked up the tac 2 boot knife. Great little knife and im looking at Cold Steel folders now just hard to pick one
They are the best. I own 2 immortals and both versions of the sr1 and i have owned thousand of knives over 30 years and cold steel knives are superior to other brands and the testing is proof
Personal I like aus8 steel it's better than mov8cr13 steel(correct me if I got it wrong). ColdSteel folding knives can take a lot of hard work they really are a multi use tool.

I was yanking your chain. This is a bug: it comes from the video edition software, Adobe Premiere Pro. This is what the software displays when it is loading the video files that are to be edited together. It should not be visible in the final cut lol It's even weird that it is actually.

These are pretty expensive for most people and in my opinion, unnecessarily so. I've been using a Kay-Bar Mule, not as EDC, but when I need a heavy duty tool. It's 40 bucks. It never fails. Let's see more affordable quality knives that working guys use.
$475 for a knife? It better come with rechargeable batteries and cut thinks automatically/unassisted. And it better at least be gold plated or gold filled.
I just ordered a Buck 110 off eBay, it’ll be here soon. I bought it to practice sharpening on my new Work Sharp Precision knife sharpener. The price was right compared to these working knives. My Buck 110 will just be used to open my mail, once I put a razor edge on it. Great video.

Personally I won't hard use a folder with liner lock. Liner locks will fail. A Tri-Ad lock will not. I also won't hard use a knife over $100. I can beat the hell out of a Recon 1 that costs less than $100. So my choice is the Recon 1 tanto. I get the best lock on a very good knife for less than $100.
An overlooked hard use knife is the Spyderco Caribbean. I have one I use on my boat, fishing, camping etc. I’d like to see you feature it and get your opinion.
No knife with G10, FRN, or Micarta...without metal liners on BOTH scales, are not hard use knives The biggest joke is a metal lock side, and plastic (resin) show side...these are not hard use knives. (eg. the Hest)

The main point of failure (in fair testing) was the pivot area, then the actual lock itself failed. Yes, fixed bladed knives also broke in many tests, some bent, but all folders eventually failed. I'm not arguing against folding knives...they are pretty much all I carry unless out in the woods, camping, canoeing or hiking. I am saying the terminology is off...folders should not be called hard use knives...that classification should be reserved for fixed blades. But we are all entitled to our opinions.
Depends on your definition of hard use. I know me and a couple of my friends who use cold steel folders do not treat them nice. I'm not saying they're stronger than fixed blades. But they're as close as you can get. Everything from prying open paint lids to batoning wood, the lock has held up fine. Hell, I even use them as throwing knives, with zero issues.
the cold steel talwar (g10 only) held 440 lbs of weight on the handle, the spyderco tatanka's blade broke at 300 lbs and the voyagers broke at 450 lbs, g10 is ridiculously tough shit, the blade will break long before the handle
Cold Steel AD-10 for me. That thing can go through a nuclear war and still stand on top. If not that, i will take The Lionsteel SR11 or ROK. This is the best video to date David and Knife Center.

Lionsteell always surprises me well. At this point they have, IMHO, the best slipjoints available in the market. Their fixed blade knives are also super. F&F is always premium. And their prices are competitive.

Great video thanks. Love my 4 max scout 62 rq cold steel knife for my favorite heavy use knife. My EDC knife is the Snubby cqc 14 from Emerson with a full size handle and city legal just under 3 inch blade I am very happy with it. I have thumped an SR1 through logs for 2 years. Batonned it hard enough to chip and scratch the spine too. For $140 I have no complaints. IMHO its a little easier to pocket carry than the 4 max models.

I know enough to state that AUS10 is an average budget steel at best. I agree the 4-Max scout is beefier than the AD10 and that was never in question. If your needs require a knife as huge as the 4-Max scout, I would seriously consider a fixed blade. Ultimately, what ever works for you man. Enjoy them blades, over and out.
Folders are for occasions where you would not be expecting to use it other than open a letter, cut a cord, open a package and for dress up occasions. Ranching, farming, camping, tradesmen, or expeditions require a more solid cutting platform. IMO only.

I wanted quantity and quality, so I have so many ranging from Ganzo, CH knives, Kershaw, CRKT, to Twosun, Kizer, Spyderco, ZT, BM, then to Reate, Rike knives, Steelcraft Todd Begg Bodega and 3/4 kwaiken, North Arm Skaha 2, and 1 custom Hoback Kwaiback. When I look at knives online, I look at budget knives, customs, and everything in between. It all sparks my interest and it's a great time to be an enthusiast or collector b/c there's so much out there. It takes me so long to make up my mind on something b/c I want it all, lol. I have a problem.
Love my Sog Seal XR. Total beast of a knife. When using their crossbar lock it does kick out the blade nicely. So nice it can open and close with gravity and the weight of that beefy blade. Definitely a knife I will never part with.
If anyone wants a much cheaper alternative to the Emerson Super Commander, try the Kershaw Emerson CQC series. I use the CQC-5k and it has exactly the same features as the super commander, just a tad bit smaller and around 1/10 the price.
Go watch some Cold Steel lock test videos to get a better grasp of how well liner and frame locks hold up to "hard use"... Calling that POS Emerson Super Commander a hard use folder is downright comical..

CRKT CK folder is the best $30 you’ll ever spend on a hard use folder.
Medford for sure the best of the best. I carry a midi Marauder. Built like a tank and the top materials are used. Well worth the cost

Idk man. The recon 1 has no liners, but I haven't seen one break yet. Look up some destruction tests.
I rather carry a small fixed blade knife, than a folder for hard use, even Esse Izula, Becker Necker are better choices.

Love my Sog Seal XR. Total beast of a knife. When using their crossbar lock it does kick out the blade nicely. So nice it can open and close with gravity and the weight of that beefy blade. Definitely a knife I will never part with.

If anyone wants a much cheaper alternative to the Emerson Super Commander, try the Kershaw Emerson CQC series. I use the CQC-5k and it has exactly the same features as the super commander, just a tad bit smaller and around 1/10 the price.
The Buck SAR is horrible. It's really hard to open and close.
Some are looking great for fishing and carving!

Go watch some Cold Steel lock test videos to get a better grasp of how well liner and frame locks hold up to "hard use"... Calling that POS Emerson Super Commander a hard use folder is downright comical..

No Benchmade Turret?!? One of my favorite newer Benchmades in last year or so and yet no one seems to be talking about it. Benchmade even bills it as super heavy duty.
