This may very well be the first time I've seen someone turn a full orchestra into something contemporary. Sure, I know there's been plenty of "orchestra plus X rock/metal band", but this is the first time I've seen them as actually part of the overall look, and getting right into it - even the conductor actually looks like he SHOULD be part of the band!
I have always loved Gary Numan but found an even deeper respect for him when he came out of hiding with a new found respect and love for HIS own sound. TY Trent for helping him find his way back. I saw him live on Exile Filmore but what he is doing now is just amazing.. Nothing touches my soul and opens my eyes more.... keep up the bone chilling work.
Gary just keeps gettin fuckin betrer!!! Im covered in chills. Such an intense performance. Beautiful chorus vocals and orchestra. Even the conductor was rockin out!
The conductor (Simon Robertshaw) also plays bass guitar in a heavy metal band. This guy rocks both genres, but the orchestra really compliments Gary's work, most of it comprising of syth strings.
@@colinwright4139 I wat at a gig 2 years ago, unfortunatelly chorus was a lipsync. Still awesome, IMO in that show (S-H-O-W, real show) final effect was that what matters so I am not angry.
One of only a few artists from his era I would still love to see live... his new stuff is even better than his original... surprisingly! The Skaparis Orchestra brings it all up to another level again... creating a brilliant eclectic mix.

Thrilled to find out that this is coming out on DVD. Nice to see Gary get away from the faded T-shirt and combat boot thing he's been doing these last years. Love the orchestra.
This was the concert that blew me away and totally changed my opinion of Numan! I was there, left hand side, lower balcony almost over the stage area. Can't wait to.see him.again!
The Royal Albert Hall was the best gig I have ever been to (and that's out of quite a few hundred gigs)... wish I'd have gone to Manchester as well... okay, wish I'd have gone to all of the dates! I could watch this show daily. Brilliant! Can't wait for the DVD!!🤘🤘🤘
If you get a chance to see him in concert, do NOT miss it. I saw this in Seattle last year. Amazing. I'd seen him,...in 1979 at the age of 12. In 2018 I took my son to his first concert, Gary Numan. I told him that he's going to have a very hard time topping the event.
Love it. It’s great how the back ground singers ..strings etc are all incorporated into to a powerful song. The conductor was all over it also. 🤘Can’t wait for the DVD
I agree but wish we could make out the background singers just a little more. I seem to hear opera voices but I can't say for sure as the instruments drown them out to a certain extent. Yeah, I love the conductor's energy.
The Skaparis Conductor Simon Robertshaw is absolutely fantastic individual. Simon arranged all the Orchestal music for Gary for the tour an incredible achievement. He is also an awasome bass player capable of delivering amazing original metal music. . He also played on original rock, blues, country and ballads on many Elias. T. Hoth Live and studio albums including Wrath widower, O Rhesus Negative, Damascus and the new about to be released Elias.T. Hoth Metastatic Syndrome album. What a absolutely incredible and brilliantly talented guy.
Excellent!! Very impressive visuals, uniquely Numan. Subtle performance from a Master Performance Artist. He makes the Macabre and the Bizarre fun! Even all the orchestral and choir performers wore the obligatory makeup, nice touch of homage for the talent of Numan. When this World ends I want his to be The Finger on The Button!!
saw him in a little club full of mostly boomers and gen x ers in nyc after jagged came out, he really is a 5 or 5000 kind of performer. was a teen then and i think he saw it with hope in a way, a new generation growing up with his brilliance.
Something to be said about an artist playing live....sounds better than studio because he is so damn good. JS Props to Numan. Thank you for going out to play for the fans.
I was there that night and so bloody glad that I was too. Oh man... He blew my mind and the roof of the Bridgewater Hall to Kingdom come! This gig went straight to no 2 in my top 5 best gigs ever. I've been to over 170 concerts from many genres of music and seen some legends and epic bands....
I've been listening to the genius of Gary Numan since the '70s, and just like so many here, have seen him in concert more than once. But never have I seen him work like he does with the Skaparis Orchestra. Every video of him uploaded to youtube, playing with the Skaparis Orchestra is absolutely world-class; the arrangements, the orchestrations, the synchronicity - all of it, genius. What's more, you can see the love and comradery between Gary, the conductor, Simon Robertshaw, and every musician on the stage, as well as the love and comradery between the band members and the orchestra members. That energy comes through in Gary's performances, which (with this orchestra) are stronger, more enthusiastically delivered, and vocally masterful than any concerts I've seen of his. - He should do more work with this orchestra, imo. Their dynamic together is perfection.
