Great video, very informational. It’s seems like I will be having the key hole decompression surgery. My life has changed drastically and it has been 16 weeks like this and waiting another 3 weeks for surgery. Concerned about my nerves, feeling positive since it’s been a few weeks that I will recover from nerve damage. Wish you were my surgeon. Great, clear information. Thank you!
The information you share is invaluable. I have significant cervical stenosis, central and foraminal . Your videos have helped me understand my situation and be aware of myelopathy. Thank you Dr 🙏🏻
Also, on a separate note. Do you have any information or videos about the long-term effects of a pubis ramus fracture on the spinal nerves? (With chronic, but intermittent pain not only in the spine juts buttocks and legs)
My husband lost use of his legs and bladder. Spinal surgeon said was synovial cyst big hard had dark old blood and jelly substance. Is that rare. I can't find anything about loss of use of legs and bladder
@@DrBrianSuTheSpineGuy thank you for your response. Today is 6 days post op. When getting him ready for shower he has developed a large swelling around surgery area. I didn't notice it until than 4:30 all gone from Dr. Office said a nurse would call but didn't. It is semi soft. Not hot not red. Is pliable 1 in or more completely around incision. When in reclined more balloon like but after being on back in bed flattened out somewhat but much wider all around. Calling Dr. Again in morning. Could there be a leak of synovial fluid into tissue. He did have a drain for blood but was pulled before going home. It is not hot. Not red. Skin color not bruised. I am thinking synovial fluid leak. Is that possible? What is done about it. He has No brace or anything like that. Very stable on feet but slow. Still pain but controlled with meds. Should I be worried? What is done for this. I do not believe it. Is blood because there is no discoloration of surgical site or area around site. Nirmal skin color. Incision site dry clean no seepage. No bruising. Just swelling that changes shape when up VS down in bed.
What type of specialist should I be consulting with to get diagnosed? I’ve talked to spine surgeons but they only are looking to do surgery. And is it possible that the cyst protrudes to the point that you can “feel” it on the surface of the lower spine when palpating? It would have been due to a traumatic fall off a horse. Thank you.
My mother has had this done. Her scar is approx 6-7 inches in length. Shes almost 3 weeks in and she’s still in a lot of pain. She can’t sleep at night. She screams in pain all night. The scar is not the issue. We have contacted the surgeon but I’m not sure why she has no much pain. It was between L3 and L5. Surgeon says that everything went as expect but I just don’t understand why she’s still in pain? She had the cyst removed and a fusion. Thoughts?
HELP 😢, **I have Constant RINGING in the Ear 👂,, DIZZY, EYES 👀 CROSSED , Numbness on my Right thumbs 👍, Cant lay on my back , EXTREMELY light sensitive. BAD , digestion & along with Going restroom 🚻. I see mostly you talk about the lumbar section of the spine. I am recovering from a cyst removal on the thoracic section. I am 65 years old and have had a previous corpectomy in the lumbar . Basically, my spine is a train wreck. Any advice going forward ? When is it time to say enough? No more surgery.
Hi, Do you do consutations /video calls ? i find your videos very informative and just looking at a second oppinion kinda hopeless 34 year old with what i assume is facet joint pain or possible cyst (was on my mri report) saw a doctor and he just said go to a pain clinic didnt even walk into room
Hi Doctor, I have written you many times. I know you see ALOT of people though. You said at one point you thought it might be time for me to see a surgeon. However, I began getting shots. They have been working miracles until recently. It seems like they may not be working as well. Although, at this time I have no buttocks or leg pain. The upper middle of my back started itching really bad. At first they thought I had shingles. But they sent me for another mri and xrays. Originally I have Osteoporosis with Degenerative Disc Disease. Spondylolisthesis L3 L4 and L4 and 5 along with something with S1. The new tests showed (I forget what everything is called sorry) but something encroaching on T9 -T12. Instead of sending me to a surgeon they sent me to a Nuerosurgen whom said I was fine. The itching is rare, but does tingle when sitting certain positions. I asked the doctor how long I would be taking the shots and he said as long as they continue to work. He is so busy that I don't even get to sleep before he gives me the shots let alone answer questions. Can you give an off the cuff simple estimate of how long the shots might continue to work. They take care of the horrible buttocks and leg pain. I absolutely adore you for doing these videos I have learned alot, but still learning. I will be going back to rewatch them again. Terri
It can damage the nerve but it depends on how much pain or weakness you have. It is not dangerous in the sense that it is not cancerous.as a disclaimer please consult your surgeon.
Hello Dr. Su, It was nice to meeting you in person yesterday , thank you for sharing those educational about spine disease and surgery.
It was good to meet you too
Thankyou! The attention to details, of the surgery, is what I... like the most!
I love your blogs! I have had a fusion surgery and would love to talk to you about my results and current condition.
Please call California orthopedics and spine for a virtual appointment with me.
I have this surgery next week. This was so helpful. Thank you.

Thanks Dr. Su. Your video is always very clear, to the point and easy to understand and follow.
I believe this might be my my future unfortunatley.... I really hope I never need a fusion but if I do you will be my surgeon. 🙏🙏🙏
THANK YOU DR.
Could you possibly do a video on foraminotomy to treat trapped nerves from a herniated disc? Love hour content very informative 😊
Please look at the lumbar disc herniation videos and if it's for the cervical spine look at the cervical radiculopathy videos
I really enjoyed that info, thank you

It is unusual but it can happen if there is compression of the cauda equina.

You may want to try a general surgeon

@@DrBrianSuTheSpineGuythanks. She has already had the procedure and it was successful. I was just curious as to why she’s in so much pain.

Thoracic pathology is a little bit more unusual but does occur. I will do some thoracic videos at some point

I would have to look at the imaging studies. You can make a virtual appointment by calling California orthopedics and spine
I have 4 bulged disc lower b and herniated c5
Please watch the cervical radiculopathy video
NO! I better die than go into surgery, specially, for spine.😱
You mean that cyst can damage nerves around it?🤔 I thought it was a non-dangerous cyst?

@DrBrianSuTheSpineGuy the only spine surgeon I have right now is you doctor. =o) I don't trust our doctors in here.
