  • Taking a look at the Steinhart Ocean One Black Ceramic on a Nato strap.
This is an inexpensive nato strap that comes with two extra spring bars and a spring bar removal tool. Both extras were very helpful as you can leave the factory spring bars in the bracelet to hold in the end links. I have worn this strap everyday for about a month at work and in scuba training and have had no problems with it.

Excellent review/video. The combo with the NATO strap works very well ;-) . Knowing that you dived with the watch is a bonus. Thank you

One thing I will add re taking off the bracelet (having never done this myself until recently):
Get yourself a loupe so you can see what you are doing. I took a small, old 4x stamp-/coin-magnifying glass and strapped it to a pair of reading glasses. Looked awkward, but worked great and made manipulating the spring-bars way easier.
Re NATOs on a Steinhart: I find that my 42mm looks better on my wrist (17cm, just under 7inches) when I don't use the second, short strap as intended. What I do is put the "holes-end" of the strap through the loop of the short strap first (wrapping it around my arm), then put the holes-end through the actual buckle. This will move the short strap from under the watch to the underside of your wrist and lets the watch sit more closely to your arm/wrist. This is especially noticeable on thicker NATOs, not so much on thin ones where the additional "layer" under the watch won't be as much of a factor.

Wow that's very unusual, someone on youtube that bought a diving watch and USES it to dive!!! Some youtuber-watch-snobs should really learn a bit from this video! Very nice review btw, keep it up man! Cheers!

Since this video, have you gone any deeper now? It is hard to find a review with someone who has actually taken this time piece diving.

Sorry I didnt reply sooner. I've been off youtube for a while. I've had this watch on a few open water dives. usually about 40ft deep. The watch did great. I may make a video speaking about using it for actual diving. On one dive, I came up and found that I left the crown unscrewed and there was only condensation on the inside. No real water ingress.

Absolutely for the price you do get a lot of watch .watches costing over £1000 use the same movement , the wayches really do pop outcat you .videos dont do any watch justice

I need help choosing between the ceramic bezel or the aluminum which do you think is best??

Spring for the ceramic. its worth the money. This watch is going to last a long time, and the ceramic on my watch has not scratched at all. And I do not baby my watch. From what I have read, the aluminum scratches much more easily. So consider it an investment considering the longevity of the watch.

But good question. I too spent much time trying to decide between the two. The aluminum also isnt as glossy looking as the ceramic. The aluminum has more of a matte finish, so that might be a consideration in accordance with your preferences.

Depends on what you like. Some people prefer the way aluminium fades and scratches over time. Ceramic will never develop any sort of patina because it is so durable. OTOH, I think the black Ocean One still has those weird silvery markings on the Ceramic bezel that will "vanish" in certain lighting conditions. I'm not a fan of those and would only go for a ceramic one where the markings are etched into the ceramic and then filled with paint/lume. Those are much easier to see and they aren't affected by different lighting. I believe the 39mm has those etched markings, while the 42mm has the "vanishing" ones.
