- Jenn stops by Dulan’s on Crenshaw for a lesson in soul food and learns how Greg Dulan makes his family’s famous fried chicken. Pro tip: He uses a paper bag. Greg Dulan’s father, Adolf Dulan, was the self-proclaimed "king of soul food." Recorded in February 2020.

Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out our latest episode of the Bucket List!! This was filmed in February, before the pandemic, which is why we are all so close and no one is wearing masks! This is one of the last two episodes we shot for the show. (One more dropping next week!) Thanks again for checking it out! If you have a favorite fried chicken restaurant, let me know. Stay safe, sane and healthy everyone!
Keep up the good work this is on my bucket list when I visit family California 😎

Its not jus the seasoning that makes the soul food, its love, and thats a fact. Love
There wuz nothing wrong with ur Father having self confidence in his cooking and all that he did !!! Salute Father Dulan for ur Vision !!!
Now those two gentleman know what real Soul Food cooking is all about.
That smothered chicken is about the best I’ve ever seen.
Soul Food as we know it is one of the very few cuisines that originated here in the US.
Thank goodness those traditions have been so accurately passed down from generation to generation.
It’s truly the most delicious combination of ingredients and dishes you will ever eat.
It’s love on a plate.
My grandma used to make fried chicken with a paper bag! That fried chicken looked perfect!
This I will try Alma’s in Compton’s civic center, literally right across the street from the County Library. Several soul food kitchens in the South LA area are known for Turkey Chops - fried fillet of turkey breast prepared to look like pork chops. Alma’s has it for a lunch special-1 jumbo turkey chop with 2 sides (I’ll go with greens and red beans rice) homemade cornbread, and a soda for around $10.
Also, Amazon Fresh has great southern style greens in the hot bar (at select locations)! Very tender and great bacon-smoked flavor!
Great interview and super delicious looking food indeed. I've had some pretty good fried chicken all over the U.S. and to answer Jenn's question, my favorite is from Mama Dip's in Chapel Hill, NC. Hard to beat.
never heard of them i lived in durham need to get out more
I always wanted to go Dulan soul food restaurant. The food looks delicious!!! buttermilk cornbread, and those collard greens looks delicious!! I need a plate with everything.
I gotta try this place.
Man I'm in New York City now I have to go to Sylvia's Restaurant and get some fried chicken that looks so good
Sylvia is bad
I forgot to go to Sylvia's but Charles fried chicken in Harlem good
Dulan's and Jim Dandy are my two favorites!
Who is Jim Dandy?
It's good!!!
I gotta come to LA to try out the food I've never been anywhere close in that direction before.
Well honestly stay away from this restaurant I had it once that was good enought nothing was good
Really good food.
Dude ain't honestly cooked in that kitchen on a minute and it showed.
Wowwwww. Those collards look totally delish. Yowsa fried chicken! looks like the way my mom made it!
That's what I said Stella Stai those collards greens look delicious!!! collard greens are my favorite.
Why would your mother choose "Soul Food" and not something else?
The gentleman already told the story. Some people I question 😩
Killer job, Jenn! Come on down to San Diego and let me take you on an SD fried chicken tour.
Honestly I was drooling. That chicken looks amazing.
😋😋😋
Looks delicious I love soul food🤤
Gotta try it now
California got some soul 2 when cooking this classic. Food 4 thought.🌶🌽🍅🥘📚 More reasons west coast represent 2 the fullest. Besides the music and the culture.📻
I've eaten here and the food is good at both locations. Food quality taste wise changes but that's how soul food is it ain't no set taste. I had to stop going cause they do weird business like making the price high throughout the day and giving food on a Sunday that used to be served daily not to forget they are closed for a boxing day😂😂. Too expensive for me but from a business perspective they may need the extra money. Good good food overall.
Damn
this has got to be filmed before covid times
In the opening it says February 2020
@@mjfromla well im dumb
Omg im hungry at work it 1.37am!!!!! Wtf am i doing?..... Drooling man drooling. Never had soul food. Had kfcwhich is not soul food.
I'm going this weekend (again)
Dylan’s fried chicken was good, but the sides could be improved. I hated cornbread dressing made from sweet cornbread.
Kinda of weird to hear kinda hate on pops for being out going and confident because he's not sure of himself you can tell.
One of the last two episodes?! Oh no! So glad to have this back and so nice to see people sharing food and a table, without masks! We will be able to do this again...if, for now, we bite the bullet, wear a mask, social distance, wash our hands and use common sense. These guys were great guests/chefs and the food all looked fantastic! Looking forward to the next episode!
😷🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
🙏Like you but where's Lucas...That's what brought me here?
Its looks good, but I'll stay in the south.
Dulan is really nasty lowkey
That Mac n cheese don't look right.
That slave food is why the COVID fatality rate is so high, besides the food desert and lack of even low quality Healthcare
