Love this I have her recipe book never thought of canning it. Going to collect all the necessities to can. Watched multiple times to get exact amounts. Thank you 🤗 and blessings ❤
I canned the PW recipe up a while back, but added the cooked ground beef because I’m trying to make freezer space for another cow soon. It turned out really good.
So timely with this video! I have tons of tomatoes ready to process and the Lobster (husband) was teasing that I’d make sloppy Joe sauce. Won’t he be surprised. 😂
Hi Rachel. Yay for sloppy joes source. I love sloppy joes and it has been awhile since I had sloppy joes in a can. Love you for sharing your recipe. God Bless you and have a healthy week. Mari'a. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
LOve your channel, Rachel. Knob Noster, MO. here. My wife, Sandi, and I have been watching you and Todd since you started. You've inspired us to do more canning. Keep the vids coming.
I must confess... we have been buying Stonewall Kitchen's Sloppy Joe starter. ( omg it's yummy) But this year I want to can our own so this was a great video to inspire me!
I made a huge batch of the Ball recipe last year because I had such a massive pepper harvest. We use lentils in place of the meat. It's a great quick meal.
I looked and I don't see a red ketchup canning video from you. I would love to see your ketchup canning recipe. I should try this one too, we do like sloppy joes. Thanks Rachel, ur the best!
After watching several of your videos for all the different types of tomato sauces with different recipes I decided to just make a generic tomato sauce which would include all the common spices and ingredients to most all of the dishes that I make so all I would really have to do is add the few remaining ingredients and you’re in business. So I am waiting for about 24 quarts to finish so I can go take a nap. Thank you for the videos. God bless and take care
Outdoor Canning Setup: Our propane cook stove is from Camp Chef, we bought it online: amzn.to/3dAOHhJ Amish Water Bath Canner: We bought ours local from an Amish shop for $125. You can find them online too, but they're a bit more expensive: amzn.to/3S6KUYd If you get one and you want to double stack jars, here's the extra plate: amzn.to/3R60dzd
I use my PH 1-14 indicator paper strips for an acid test if I am concerned about the water bath vs pressure cooker dilemma. You can get them on Amazon, there relatively inexpensive. I don't like adding too much lemon as it changes the flavor palette to me.
This is a great use for the ketchup I made last year that it turned out too runny, so I only use it for meatloaf. I’d like to use it up and try again, so this is perfect.
This sauce looks and sounds wonderful (apart from the chilli!! hahaha) and easy to make so I will try this once my pantry is better stocked with some bits I really need. Great job Rachel :)
Question Rachel being your canned ketchup has no Preservative how long would you expect it to last once opened. Also I made this sauce last year and water bathed canned it. It’s all gone. So yummy.
Hi, Rachel and Todd! I love all your posts, from canning to solar home off grid systems. You're always my first port of call. Can you tell me, as a Brit, what is sloppy Joe sauce used for? I know it looks delicious enough to eat from the jar with a spoon. (Also as a Brit may I help with your struggle with "Worcestershire" without being impertinent? It goes to a count of three, said quickly - Wu - Sta - Sha Worce-ster-shire Yes, nothing like the spelling, with many silent r's!! All "shires" place names are shortened to a "-sha" or "shuh" or maybe a "shur" depending on regional accent. Although our working Shire horses are said as it is spelled. Just to be awkward, lol.)
Hi Rachel, love you guys!! this may be a silly question...but if I cut the recipe in half, that doesn't affect the processing time, correct? 🤔 Thank you, Shannon from eastern Canada 🤗
You have a jelly jar caddy on your counter to the left of your stove. I have so many homemade seasonings and that would be amazing! Where did you get that?
I'm getting ready to can the sloppy joe sauce but I'm wondering since you saute the vegetables in oil if it is safe to water bath it? If I choose to pressure can it how long and at what pressure should I use
You have to pressure can according to the ingredient that needs the longest canning time without being in a recipe, which in this case, would be the meat. Pressure can meat at 75 minutes for pints, 90 minutes for quarts.
Hi Rachel I would love to know where you brought the canner opener for your Jars😊 Here In Australia 🇦🇺 I am unable to find happy to send you money if your able to find or come across one😃
Wishtisire sauce took me a long time to pronounce it correctly and still at times I mess up I usually call it whats that here sauce 😁 thank you for sharing this recipe I am going to try it next summer when I get more tomatoes and I will be trying the ketchup recipe to 🙂I wish a bottle of ketchup lasted me a year the way my son eats it we go through 2 64 oz bottles a month 😂
Love your channel! Haven’t seen all your videos, but was wondering if you liked the texture of hamburger once it’s canned? I was wanting to canned sloppy Joe mix with meat.

This is a good idea, to can sloppy Joe sauce. I always just make it when I need it. Convenience food! I use a different recipe, I use celery instead of green peppers and tomato sauce instead of ketchup, etc. Right now I’m overloaded with peaches and apple to can.
At about 5:10-ish I thought a tiny alligator was crawling across the kitchen floor 🤣
"I've done so much canning today, none of my utensils are clean".... I felt that so deeply! I need someone to just wash dishes for me! 😂
I hate cleaning up after myself too. I'm doing dishes too from canning apple recipes
I agree! I NEVER wanted a dishwasher put our son bought one and I have admit it has been a God send!
Husband?
Love this I have her recipe book never thought of canning it. Going to collect all the necessities to can. Watched multiple times to get exact amounts. Thank you 🤗 and blessings ❤
What I wouldn’t give to have a WILLING human dishwasher
I canned 40 pints of corn. I have a ton of tomatoes coming on. I’m so grateful. Heavenly Father has blessed my garden abundantly. 😊
It’s always so satisfying to use and empty out the freezer for the next round of preserving/freezing!
I canned the PW recipe up a while back, but added the cooked ground beef because I’m trying to make freezer space for another cow soon. It turned out really good.
What a pretty sight for people driving by to see, all those lovely jars singing of the harvest! 🍅🍅
I friends, did stewed tomatoes today.
So timely with this video! I have tons of tomatoes ready to process and the Lobster (husband) was teasing that I’d make sloppy Joe sauce. Won’t he be surprised. 😂

Thanks for sharing. A can costs $4 here and we enjoy with chicken or the standard ground beef.
Your timing is perfect.
This looks great!! Another one of your recipes is going on my to do list. Thank you.🥰
Awesome!! And btw, I am so jealous of your porch!
Rachel Thank You so much for this Video/ Recipe 😋. Love all your videos. Thanks for the laugh.."Freezer Camp" 🤣
I’m so excited to see someone else who makes their own brown sugar. So yummy!
Thank you for this video. I am loving the tomato uses and also being able to add another non-grocery store item
So wonderful he’s involved
Oooooo I need to make this
I'll be making this tomorrow. It will eliminate me freezing peppers and onions for future sloppy Joe's. YES! I am so excited! Thank you very much! 🌻
I must confess... we have been buying Stonewall Kitchen's Sloppy Joe starter. ( omg it's yummy)
But this year I want to can our own so this was a great video to inspire me!
The vinegar in the ball recipe makes it safe to can. Also, all the low-acid vegetables and other ingredients were measured.
Wow RACHEL, that sauce looks delicious!!!!
I made a bunch of sloppy Joe sauce last year. It's so good. I used a blue book recipe but tweeked it to how we like it.
What tweeks? I need all the help I can get.
i am faced with this dilemma as well; tomatoes by the hundreds. Getting the roaster pan going again. Thanks for idea of what to make this weekend
I made your recipe this summer and OMG is it really good! I won’t be buying can sloppy Joe sauce anymore! Thank you
I made a huge batch of the Ball recipe last year because I had such a massive pepper harvest. We use lentils in place of the meat. It's a great quick meal.
How much dry lentils equals a pound of hamburger? That's a great idea but I need a starting point.
Just made this. Added shredded frozen carrots and green onion salt. Huge hit in the house..
I absolutely love your porch!! I will definitely be trying this recipe 😋
I looked and I don't see a red ketchup canning video from you. I would love to see your ketchup canning recipe.
I should try this one too, we do like sloppy joes.
Thanks Rachel, ur the best!
Sounds like a great recipe.
great idea
I'm excited to try this!! I love you outside waterbath!!
Sloppy Joe sauce is on the stove right now. Getting ready to put it in some jars! Thanks for sharing this

This looks amazing (and I love seeing your adorable dog)
I absolutely love your videos 😍 Huge fan from Denmark 😍
That must be so yummy! I love seeing the jars lined up on the railing!
I did alot of sloppy Joe mix earlier this summer definitely a home favorite an chicken ala king
Loved the video Rachel and Todd!
I hope one day to have a lovely porch like you.
I like t hat the Ball canning book many times for tomato products give recipes and procedures for both Pressure and Water bath canning.
I’m so happy for this! Can’t wait to make Sloppy Joe sauce!
I have a running list of things that I want to can on my ipad. I will be adding this to my list. Thanks for the idea!
That looks delicious.
I’m gonna have to try making this thanks
Thank you so much for sharing the recipe and the process, after a long day of canning!
OMG!!! Yes! I need this!
I cant wait to try this recipe! Sloppy joes and tater tots are my favorite easy dinner😊
“Freezer camp” 🤣 I’m using that one from now on.
Love it!!
Good vid. Thx
Nice. Thank you for the video. I want to try that sauce
I love your videos. Thank you for sharing
That was a Great recipe!!! I hope you don't mind if I borrow it!!! Thank you for sharing it with us!!! God Bless!!!
This recipe I will try yummy
Did 12 pints of the ball sloppy jo sauce. Love it
aghh good to know I can water bath this item
thank you Racheal
Oh boy you guys figured out a recipe im so excited!! .. (time to watch) :)
We love Sloppy Joe's. YUM!! Your calculations really were not off. Had you added the 1/2 cup water per jar you would have been at 24 pints. Great job!
Freezer Camp. Thanks for the laugh.
Please don't let one of those treasures fall off that railing! Looks delicious!
This was a great video! Where did you get that big outdoor canner from?
Outdoor Canning Setup:
Our propane cook stove is from Camp Chef, we bought it online: amzn.to/3dAOHhJ
Amish Water Bath Canner:
We bought ours local from an Amish shop for $125. You can find them online too, but they're a bit more expensive: amzn.to/3S6KUYd If you get one and you want to double stack jars, here's the extra plate: amzn.to/3R60dzd

Whoa! Where did that giant waterbath canner come from? That's amazing.
From an Amish shop here in Michigan, but Lehmans has them too amzn.to/43oOtPe
@@1870s thank you! That looks like it would definitely cut down on canning time when doing large batches.
Keep up the good work!
This sauce looks and sounds wonderful (apart from the chilli!! hahaha) and easy to make so I will try this once my pantry is better stocked with some bits I really need. Great job Rachel :)
I will be caning sloppy joe sauce, thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
I love my homemade sloppy joes. The store bought stuff isn't my favorite. Thanks for sharing your recipe, I may give it a try.

It's common mixed with cooked ground beef and served on a bun here in the US

I would like your chili base recipe
Hi Rachel, love you guys!! this may be a silly question...but if I cut the recipe in half, that doesn't affect the processing time, correct? 🤔
Thank you,
Shannon from eastern Canada 🤗
Thank you for sharing that great recipe for sloppy Joe sauce
Could you do a recipe for canning up some goulash sauce?
Stewed tomatoes makes the best Goulash, IMHO. That's how my mom made it and how she was taught too.
You have a jelly jar caddy on your counter to the left of your stove. I have so many homemade seasonings and that would be amazing! Where did you get that?
Thanks Rachel 9-22-2022♥️♥️
I'm getting ready to can the sloppy joe sauce but I'm wondering since you saute the vegetables in oil if it is safe to water bath it? If I choose to pressure can it how long and at what pressure should I use
Freezer Camp LOL 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😊
How do you can in the jars with the gusets?
Do I need to add lemon juice to this for water bath canning?
Water bath it is.. easy peasy
Any idea on the pressure canning time if you were to go ahead and add the meat and can the meat in it?
90 min for quarts
You have to pressure can according to the ingredient that needs the longest canning time without being in a recipe, which in this case, would be the meat. Pressure can meat at 75 minutes for pints, 90 minutes for quarts.
Hail!

Wanting to make this newbie here but you never said hiw much Lemmon juice to add before canning. Can you please tell me hiw much to add.
Love your channel!
Haven’t seen all your videos, but was wondering if you liked the texture of hamburger once it’s canned? I was wanting to canned sloppy Joe mix with meat.
It's so-so. Sometimes it's good when I add broth.
Can I ask what made you decide it would be ok to water bath can this without adding any acid? All the recipes I've seen includes vinegar, but I don't like how that tastes, so I would prefer to try your recipe. (Just need to be sure I can sleep at night!)
The Ball recipe adds vinegar because it uses tomato sauce, my ketchup has even more vinegar than this recipe otherwise would have called for.
You don’t add the ground beef before canning ?
I'm curious as to where I can find you ketchup recipe. I have loved everyone of your recipes I've used so far...and it's quite a few.
I didn't do a video on it
It cracks me up how my fellow Americans struggle with saying Worcestershire. :D
WOOSTER SHEER.
I it’s the Shire part that messes everyone up lol
which propane stove are you using?
Rachel, I missed it, was this a double batch? I’m trying to take notes. LOL
Question….was it 6 pints of ketchup per pot or 3 each? Trying to determine if I need 12 pints or just 6 pints. Looking forward to making this!
I was wondering the same thing
Any suggestions on kinds or brands of ketchup to use if I don’t have my own? (It was a terrible tomato year for me so no fun things like ketchup 😢)
we're usually Heinz when we need to buy it
This looks delicious! Where did you get your outdoor canner?
From an Amish store, just Google Amish canner
@@1870s thank you!
We got ours local at a shop for 1/2 this price: amzn.to/3C7yxpD
@@1870s wow! You got a great deal!
