I started using this same stuff about three years ago after finding evidence that mice were trying to get into my garage, tool shed, and probably house. I also have a few citrus trees and those can attract rodents especially if I'm not quick enough about picking up the dropped fruit. I began spraying Tomcat repellant around the outside perimeter of the house, garage, shed , citrus tree trunks, and fence perimeter around my yard once a month and since then I have not seen any evidence of mouse activity. It came to halt immediately. Is that scientific proof that it works? No, but to me it's pretty strong anecdotal evidence. The other thing I like is that it's not poison, it's just a mix of peppermint and garlic oil which rodents don't like to smell, so I don't have to worry about the dog being in the area where I sprayed. I'm sure she notices it but she doesn't seem bothered by it. I buy the big gallon size with a spray wand and with once a month applications a jug lasts about a year.
I'm surrounded by cornfields, I have a problem with mice getting in my vehicles. I bought some of this to spray around the engine compartment, steering column, etc. So far, so good! If you have a Nissan with the soy based wiring harness, I suggest using this spray anywhere it's exposed.
Love Light Blessings Didn’t work for me unfortunately. She had a rat in her car and it worked. They have gotten into my attic. Sprayed around my perimeter and it didn’t work. Still trying to get rid of them with an exterminator.
Taye R oh my it’s been so long too smh my landlord put down traps with peanut butter worked but months later they are back so gross he doesn’t want to call the exterminator because of a so called contract that they will put him in he said they are only going to put traps down with peanut butter anyway I don’t get it smh in time they start accumulating I’m seriously thinking of moving and unfortunately having to have to leave allot of stuff behind as they might be on the furniture so gross
Love Light Blessings since this started in January I did a lot of research about it and roof rats are the hardest to get rid of. Like you said, they come back. I have the bait stations, glue traps, bait traps and I have even bought poison not given to me by the exterminator and I am still dealing with this. I own my townhouse and it is the middle unit and neither of my neighbors are having this issue which I don’t understand. At least you can move without. the additional hoops. I have spent over $2000 on this as well as having to replace my mattress and unfortunately still dealing with this. So, I would definitely move. Rent here in California is more than my mortgage so it’s more affordable to continue to fight this. With that said, I am still grateful to be able to have a house to stay with the way things are. I hope you are able to do what’s best for you,
Taye R thank you I’m thinking of purchasing a home as well my neighbors here are so very nice with me too but there’s nothing like having your own have a blessed day
Whatever you use to repel rats and mice you have to do it regularly, daily, nothing is a “one and done deal.” I’m using this spray and Fresh Cab packets and steel wool and expanding foam. So far it has chased away the rats in our RV. But believe me I will be checking daily and adding fresh spray and packets regularly.
I will definitely give this a try. I seem to have the problem every 6 months or so. The first time was really bad and we had to pay someone. After that if we saw one we would put down sticky traps right away and we filled cracks with steel wool and canned foam. The tomcat sticky traps work great and I will still use them as needed but this would be awesome if it works.
Give it a try you have to use it every 30 days or so. I had mice in my attic I could hear scratching noises and now I dont I also use the sticky traps also.
The truth! Hadn’t seen or heard any activity for a month!!! Went and grabbed 2 more cans… ps. The peppermint may cause headaches sheesh! 10.00 in Cali….
Some mice or one mouse got into my lance truck camper the cab and the engine area. I just put this spray I and around all of this unit. The funny thing is I have to sleap in it tonight. It smell like crismas in here. Hope this works. The mouse traps go up tomorrow
This repellent is a great tool in the fight against rats and mice. If you have an indoor problem this will force them out. Strong peppermint smell will longer for a few days, gave me a bit of a headache. Its a one and done or the end all solution. You must do a follow up application ( maybe 3 or 4 times). Once you're able to get them back out side the key is to keep them out. Block all entry holes with brillo pads and then ....i hate this part but it has to be done, throw down some pet safe poison baits around foundation and in their tunnels. I hate killing them but these guys carry diseases and destroy the home so..... Not many options on the table.
I sprayed it in my basement in the rafters, and all around my house and outside Also..I think it’s a great added addition to getting rid of mouse on upper level of home around dogs, and pets...I also have poison for them 😎🐀🎯🐀🎯🐀🎯
Nice video content! Excuse me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Kiamiin Meow Genie (search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for stopping cat spray minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin after many years got amazing results with it.
Some odd these comments suggest spraying daily! I watched several videos and learned peppermint smell doesn't work. I'm in a townhome and one of the owners neglected their roof which caused squirls, rats and everything to enter their attic and travel through the soffit to other units. So far, I only hear sounds at night but learned it was a raccoon. SMH. GET OUT OF MY ATTIC!
Daaaamn i was about 5o ask if it worked for you. I just saw a mouse in the apartment im in and found the hole it chewed in the floor to get inside I was hoping I'd found something that actually worked.
I just bought this hope it works these mice are active at night but I also got the sticky glue traps as well as old fashioned traps I’m trying it all I haven’t got poison yet because of my small dog I got to find a poison that won’t harm her I’ll see tonight what happens I only know when they get into my potatoes and avocados that’s the only food I have sitting out
They are slick. Night is there favorable time to do their dirty work. It's true. They seem to come out of nowhere to cause problems when they know you are not around.
Tomcat peppermint scent is truly wonderfully strong but unfortunately decays quickly ~ for best results must spray peppermint treatment daily - I buy this stuff by the gallon - ( also try air wick peppermint oil plugins - I recently picked up 10 ) - Nonetheless despite Tomcats short scent life it does work to repel - keep at bay my basement rat(s) ~ note: rats did return because I neglected the peppermint treatments - a few days ( do not stop ! ) ~ In the backyard I have four rat bait block stations - I smeared the bait blocks in peanut butter - can also use bacon grease ( rats love meats, fats and sweet food stuffs like chocolates ) - please use caution around pets - by far killing' rats outdoors responsibly - is the most effective solution for reducing invasive populations.
Update; Tomcat Peppermint spray runs about $25/gal - two nights ago had an idea to conserve it - in brief - don't want a cat or dog - because I dislike cleaning after animals - in any case did some research and discovered an array of online audio recordings of cat sounds - and recorded a 10 min MP3 version - I hooked up a media player to a pair of powered PC speakers - and set it to play on a 24 hr loop - In addition I expanded repelling rats from my basement by using ammonia cleaner but just in the room where I've heard it crunching inside the wall - research indicates ammonia smells like predator urine - so basically cat audio and ammonia cleaner can be used to mimic a cat - the rat is tricked into avoiding re-entry - although I'm still using peppermint treatments along the baseboards of the other rooms - eventually I hope to slowly conserve the peppermint treatments - the problem I discovered these last couple of nights is repetitious cat sounds are annoying - so during sleep I use ear plugs to dampen the constant meowing - so far no more rat crunching sounds - that's good - (I do poison and snap trap rats in the backyard, never indoors, because I don't want dying rats inside the walls or under the floor) - end.
After five months of viewing, reading and researching materials - I may have discovered a solution of reliably keeping rats out - affordably - using lemon scented ammonia cleaner - 98¢/64oz + an internet cat audio recording - Although I'm still using Tomcat peppermint in the front areas of the basement - as a precaution - Nonetheless - the audio title is 'Sound of Cats to scare the Rats' - 10min long - Currently I have two media players on a loop playing on a set of PC speakers (it's loud and annoying so I use ear plugs) 'Secondly' I spray a up to 3x a'day a'little a mist of lemon scented ammonia cleaner at two basement locations where the speakers are set up - Although I'm still in the testing stage - I've not heard rats chewing and scratching inside the walls since about April 17th - it's because the ammonia smells like cat pee to them in addition to the audio and natural predator fears - they stay away - The rats don't see a cat but they hear and smell one and that seems to be enough - I still have a backyard rat infestation but the basement at least seems to be a place they no longer desire to invade .
I don’t see how it’s different from any other expanding foam. There’s no poison or anything so you might as well pack holes with steel wool and spray cheaper foam over it

Can I spray this on the wiring and engine of my new truck? I have had wiring chewed on my Toyota Tacoma and now foam chewed on my brand new Tundra. The rodents causing the damage are female squirrels looking to make a for babies.
I just applied this to every corner of my house, as well as under all of the kitchen appliances. 1 hour later, I got headache from the minty smell and decided to go out and sit on the balcony. I’M WRITING THIS comment now and watching 3 mice wandering around my kitchen through my door!! SMH 🤦♂️

@Rene A. OMG I just realized I gave you the wrong response LOL but yes the spray was a waste of money for the mice that were in my apartment. I ended up getting coarse steel wool and sealing up every little hole that I could possibly find, including purchasing some pest block foam called Mouse Shield. I also purchased some Jiffy cornbread mix mixed that up with baking soda and haven't seen them since. I think it was sealing the holes for them not to enter that made the difference.
While I was in the basement, I saw this large rat. He was so big. I was afraid to come back upstairs. That's how big he was. We stay in a nice neighborhood, there are no abandon buildings in our neighborhood. So I don't know where he comes from. Nevertheless, this big rat keeps coming back into my house chewing up wires and cable chords. I had to keep calling the repair man for my internet and TV service due to wires being tampered with. This thing is driving me crazy. It's like the rat came from planet x; it's so huge. I have tried two exterminators. One put paper cardboard traps in my house it didn't do anything; the rat broke loose from the cardboard traps and dragged them all around my house and this same so-called exterminator also put feeder traps on the outside of my house which didn't do anything; the rat ignores the feeder traps and comes into the house out of the cold to get food. It is also chewing up the carpet on my basement steps to get into the house. It bit a big hold at the bottom of my fake durable garbage to get food out. I tried everything and I'm tired and am about to go crazy. I even put moth balls all over the place but it ignore the moth balls and probably play with them. That's just how useless the moth balls are as a deterrent lol. Before I called the exterminators, I tried to set traps the size for a prehistoric monster and put bags of poison out from the store. The rat must can read or have a high IQ; because he doesn't come near the store bought traps and bags of poison. I'm also running out of patience with the exterminators who fail each time at exterminating this rat. I will try tomcat repellent spray. Can somebody suggest what else I can do? I appreciate your advice!
A small animal steel live trap would always work (make sure it it usable for a rat and not the small mouse ones or to big either, you can usually get them at home depot and even return it after you are done using it if you are cheap like me lol), then just bait the trap with lots of foods rats like. (Grains, bread, cheese, rice, oatmeal, fattening foods with high salt/oil like chips, cooked mashed potatoes) Once you catch them, release them a mile away in a nature setting. Then go back in the attic after and make sure to place A TON of peppermint cotton balls and possibly rodent repellent to detour any other unwanted guests. If you see any holes leading to outside in your attic please make sure to get them covered up with steel mesh so no one else comes in. It's better to use live traps instead of killing traps as undetected dead rats in your attic will attract more pests to your attic such as cockroaches, flies, maggots and possible serious diseases from said creatures. Even if the killing trap is contained, the dead body excretes fluids and poop as it dies and bacteria thrive on that kinda thing in very short amounts of time. It's also much more humane to use live traps as rats have a good sense of pain receptors as well and like I stated before it's just better for you sanitary speaking to catch them alive and release them a mile away.
I just used this for mice in my house....it got under my dishwasher and chewed wires. Now dishwasher won't work. But I heard that mouse ran out as soon as I sprayed it.
I moved to the desert and this helped so much for my car and my house! I spray it In and outside the house when I leave to work! Thank you!
