I’m a hip hop historian … I’m from queens and yes we have always had the best hip hop artists of all time from queens…. But I have to say respectfully it’s true that hip hop started in the Bronx on Sedgwick ave in the mid 70s .. then Harlem with the parties and Brooklyn to a lesser degree Made it popular with the parties. But queens made it go commercial nationwide and globally in the 80s …. Even NWA and ice T on the west coast were influenced by run dmc from queens ….. no lies I would love to say hip hop started in my boro of queens but it didn’t lol
Like I said in the live chat, nobody from Queensbridge (or any other part of Queens) would say Hip-Hop started in Queensbridge lol. Queens is a special place for me though. I always say that the special ingredient Queens (specifically the Southside) brought to Hip-Hop was the musicality. That's my opinion. Geography and other social factors played a part in that for sure. Aside from all the jazz luminaries that lived in neighborhoods like Jamaica, St. Albans, Addisleigh Park, etc., Weldon Irvine coming to the neighborhood and mentoring all the Jamaica Kats (Lenny White, Don Blackman, Bernard Wright, Marcus Miller, et al.) was pivotal. Larry Smith pretty much came from that camp. His production for cats like Run-DMC and Whodini was next level. No convo about Hip-Hop's greatest producers is complete without mention of Larry. And I haven't even mention Queens DJs.
@@oRuTRa45 yea I wish I could say hip hop started in queens but I would be lying lol. I remember when the bridge is over by KRS one came out and I was hating the Bronx lol
The fact that you correctly titled a livestream with no standard Edward Anderson typos less than 24 hours after confirmed video footage of *_TWO_* different Chinese 6th-gen stealth planes are released leads me to conclude either the invasion of Taiwan is imminent or World War III is about to start soon....
