Groups are best with 450 Bushmaster. Likely going with that. But handgun hunting is a real treat. I have harvested deer with 44 magnum revolvers and it is an interesting experience. So I understand the attraction.

I love handgun hunting and I've fallen in love with the 460 round. I love the 14 inch barrel, it really cook's out of their. I also bought a Taurus Raging Hunter in 460. All are sweet revolver's.

Ide love it if these hand Cannon revolvers ( and even normal .357s.. etc) were offered with carbine stocks sort of similar to the skeletal stocks Crosman makes for Thier 2240 series of Airguns , which allow you to lengthen a barrel and build your little air pistol into a badass carbine. Ide absolutely love to have a revolver/hand carbine with a scope mount and rail under the barrel sort of like the TRR8

No offense but I wouldn't trust a Simmons scope on a 460 magnum so would go with the 10.5" barreled model.
Go with Leupold or Burris on those handguns.

Thanks for taking us along. Things never go as planned. Suggest you use LockTite on your scope screws if you're not already. For hunting, if you can, take both the rifle and pistol. If the animal is close, use the pistol. If not, then use the rifle. Safety hint: Don't follow a wounded boar into the woods. Good luck!

The caliber i would take hog hunting is 10mm. Specifically a glock 20 with a 6in barrel or a glock 40, with a good red dot on it.
The 460 will also be a good choice if you can train with it enough before hand and get a better scope that can withstand the recoil.

Mr. "Revolver guy" got to go with one of those hand canons. I'd adjust the scoped one over a few clicks and roll with it. Thanks for sharing the video

Start with the AR then the other as you drop hogs… I took a well sorted 445 SuperMag and 357 Max in my Encores… that AR in Bushmaster is a beast

Man, I think it would be real fun with the 10.5 revolver with the big horn lever as a nasty duo

450 Bushmaster, and 10.5" incase things go south!

I would take the level gun and the 10.5 as my backup. If the opportunity arises I'd use the 10.5.

I had an encore pistol in .460 and I have the .450 Bushmaster now. I have killed several deer, so have my daughters and several family friends. Having the .450 in a semi-auto platform is pretty slick.

450 Bushmaster. They both hit hard but that 450 is much more accurate and that get’s my vote. But I’d be reloading some of those cast bullets you have in the 460 and seeing how they shoot. I think they’d be a much better bullet for pigs.

Great suggestion I didn't because I do not like lead in an AR don't want to clog up the gas port. I guess I could make sure it is thoroughly clean after each session though gas port cleaning UGH ☹

I have that 10.5 Smith with a Leopold pistol scope and it’s a hog killing machine with the Underwood 360 grain hard cast 1900fps! Another great ammunition choice is the Federal 300 grain Swift A Frame for a hollow point option and if you want to use hand loads the A Frame bullets can be purchased. I bet both of these bullets would preform great out of that Bighorn. I would take both guns. Get you a Leopold for that 10.5 it’s worth the cost. What a great combo to take with you on a hog hunt! I want one of those levers really badly.

Very nice toys. Sorry I commented too soon. You shoot the AR the best. I would still go with the 10 in revolver for your hunt since you shot that better of the two.

  • @KurNorock

To all the people saying the 450 is not accurate, you are wrong.
Accuracy comes down to the shooter and the quality of the ammunition and sight device.
Any of these guns are far more accurate than the skill of the shooter. All you have to do is get the right ammunition and practice with the platform.

I know you're a "Revolverguy" 😉 but seeing the accuracy of that 450 Bushmaster, that would be my first choice 👍🇺🇸 Maybe carry the 10.5" for anything from zero to 30 yards?
    Flamethrowers!!! 💥😯

    • @Dayattherange

Yeah brother the accuracy was surely there with the 450 Bushmaster.

I’d yank the scope off the 8 3/8 and go that route.

Seems like a light load for 460 to me. For 285gr bullets i would expect it to reach 2100ft/s out of an 8-10in barrel.

When shooting single action try cocking the hammer with the thumb of your support hand then you won't have to re-adjust your grip between shots

  • @jamespugh

Got say group wise the 450 bushmaster give you 60yards dead boar 🐗. But sitting in a deer stand over a feeder I say 10.5 inch take ur shot close . Lever gun would be cool theo .
Seen this on Big-E discord you talk about heavy hitting pig 🐖 rds

Then you come up with the 450 bushmaster so I've changed my mind. I have the 450 and it is deadly and it ain't no pipsqeek

  • @BOOMER-rs5qn
    @BOOMER-rs5qn 2 роки тому

It sounds like you hunt hogs for meat, like me. That Bushmaster is accurate and hard hitting. You don't want to be making any bad hits on those hogs. They will run off to die a slow death. Do yourself ,and the hogs a favor, take the Bushmaster.

10.5 inch even with open sights it was a much better group I think the reason the chronograph wasn't reading the 8 and 3/4 too much fire and gunpowder was confusing it

Lose the scope on the 8 inch, and give it another try.

  • @Jeff-mv4yy

30 to 60 yards is too close for me to get to a mean old hog. I'd be shooting the 450 . If you want to shoot the pistol, do it from a tree stand :)
