It was actually first officer Murdock to contact the engine room with the telegraph knowing that why would they go full astern is becuase they knew they were heading to the Atlantic Ocean and they spotted an iceberg so the chief engineer says full astern and hard to starboard in the bridge titanic was no built for a fast reversal propellers she sadly hit they iceberg and sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and only 705 survives were saved and five saved in a lifeboat when the titanic fully sank on April 15, 1912 at 2:20 in the morning Olympic would have came if they had so much similarities and they would have been frightened so Olympic back out of the rescue attempt and carpathia rushed through the ice field carpathian being the closest ship to titanic her wireless operators shut for the night and didn’t rush through and ice field carpthia running at 17 knots thought they would make it in time to see the ship go down but also they were frightened if they didn’t make it and see everyone dead and only a few lifeboats but knowing it was true the carpathia still was going to save the ship but it would I taken 4 hours to get to the titanic she would arrive roughly 4:00 AM when she got to the titanic wreck site she opened gangway doors and ladder to get the passengers on and lifting up lifeboats she would arrive
